I love the Slytherin vibes you’re giving off in this video!! Also I think it’s really great that you’re prioritising books you love because it is so easy to pressure yourself to read outside of comfort zones. ❤️❤️
Mimster2000 thanks my love! 😊 Yesss exactly! I’d like to do both, a mix of adult fantasy and some out of comfort zone books. But we’ll see if the wheel allows for that haha ❤️❤️
Hi Cody. Another joy-to-watch video!! I really enjoy all your videos, especially reading vlogs, the longer the better!! Here's to a bumper reading year, I wish you all the best for 2020 xx.
I love how your able to post more frequently now with your videos. I wanted to say thank you for getting me back into reading half way through this year and to why I loved it in the first place. For introducing books and authors that I can’t wait to start or have started in 2019 and moving them into 2020. Also, a thank you 😊 for introducing me the booktubers community and good reads. Hope everyone has a great new year in 2020. Looking forward to your goals content next year!x
I hadn’t even thought of setting reading goals that weren’t just the number of books to read within a read, you’ve thought of so many! Theses definitely inspire me for my own goals for 2020 :)
Awesome goals! So happy you want to read more nonfiction. It’s one of my favorite things to read. It would also be a good place for you to increase your audiobook listening because if you’re not used to reading nonfiction, the audiobook can help keep you at a good reading pace. If you need any suggestions let me know. I have many lol. Also, same with Lord of the Rings. I tried this year but life got so busy that I couldn’t concentrate on it. I’m hoping to retry again in January or February (hopefully lol). You should just make a reading prompt for each goal for the wheel to make it easier to try and complete them
Great goals that will fit with the Wheel of TBR without hassle! I'm also determined to read more nonfiction this year so I'm hoping to finish The Happiness Project and start I Am Malala, Slow Death by Rubber Duck and the Call the Midwife trilogy. Love you and happy new year!
Good luck with all of your goals! I’m so happy to hear that you’ll be using your library more. It always makes me happy when I hear booktubers say that.
Bookish Realm thanks my love! My library is so good I just have zero chill haha. Excited to utilise it more this year whilst hopefully not getting carried away. Good luck with your goals too my dude!
Hearing you say you've never read LOTR gave me so much relief, I've never read them either! Good luck in 2020 with your reading goals! Also! Buddy reads would be amazing, I'd love to buddy read some with you :)
Buddy reading is always fun! I think Discord or even a Goodreads group would work great. And picking a pick from your TBR each month would be interesting. P.S. I love Lord of the Rings!
Love the idea for a group buddy read - especially if they're backlist books or if you're waiting long enough for your library to get a copy of a new release.
Love this. OMG, I want to read LOTR toooo this year 😁😁 I need to start the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series. Its on my 2020 tbr. Ohhh Queen of Nothing, do stick with it, it's a slow burn in the beginning! I need to read The Secret Commonwealth too, I still need to read The Amber Spyglass yet though 😂 eek me too with Stephen King! I can't wait to read Rose Madder cause of your description of it, and also cause Bobbi has hyped it! YES!!! Buddy reading! Let's buddy read LOTR also, me Gav and Bobbi are gonna buddy read Rose Madder in Feb! Jump in! 🎉 Missed your face, love ya always ❤️❤️
You've got some great goals. Robin Hobb is my fantasy queen and Tolkien is my fantasy king and I hope you love them both! I need to read more Sanderson and that's in my plan to read in 2020! Same with Wheel of Time. I need to use my library more, but my library rarely has titles I want and it kind of takes awhile with interlibrary loan, so I get frustrated with it. We'll see if I can make it work. I feel you on needing to be more chill with readathons. I haven't gotten to do too many in the last few years, but I've done a lot on the last few months and I just keep stressing myself out with it. I love buddy reading, so I'd love to join in from time to time. I still have yet to figure out how discord works properly, but I'd be willing to try if that's the route you go with. Best of luck with all of these Codie!
Yes to the buddy reads!! :) I don’t have many reader friends IRL. So I don’t get to buddy read and I would like to give it a try. I think it would be fun:)
Hey Codie a way to help you to possibly make sure you are reading books that fit your goals is to add some new prompts to you wheel of TBR that specifically has to do with your goals. Good luck with your 2020 goals.
Yes buddy read! I'd prefer through goodreads or smth since I don't have discord haha. And idk how your local library is, but library will actually put popular new releases up for holding like a month or two before it comes out. Doing that usually saves me a lot of time on the waiting list since I requested it so early! And I usually have like 3-4 books checked out at a time, and request a new one online when I'm near finishing one. So when I return the one I finished, I can pick up the one I requested! This helps so I'm always reading something I'm excited for, instead of sitting on it for awhile.
Very cool plans Codie! Love it! And you know what I’m buddy reading with Gav and Jade in January?! SKYWARD! Omg we are going to tackle some SANDERSON! Are you proud? 😏 And YES I will 100% buddy read with you! Would be so much fun! 🖤😘
The angel's game is, in fact, a prequel. The next two books in the series are direct to The Shadow of The Wind. And I LOVE THEM. The Angel's Game have a Stephen King vibe that I absolutely ADORED. My resilutions are SOOOO similar, it's scary!
I'd definitely be up for some buddy reads. I had a lot of reading slumps this last year and I think buddy reads may help keep me going if I feel another slump coming. 😁
I waited sooooo long to finish the daughter of smoke and bone series but I finally did this year and the last book didn't disappoint! Deffo read that one soon! x
Girl I've only read the Hobbit too and not the Lord of the Rings. I'd love to read that along with you. I highly highly recommend Pride and Prejudice as a start to more adult classics. Its my all time favorite romance novel. Cant wait to see what 2020 brings!
I read a lot of romance this past year. It did not exactly go over well. My favorite non fiction book is Felicia day's book "you're mever weird on the internet. (Almost)."
Good luck with these. I really need to get my physical tbr down. After watching Becca and her tbr shelves I decided to count my unread books. I too had over 300 omg. Funny how 300 books doesn't look like many lol x Catherine
I have a discord for boneathon and its great for general bookish chats/buddy reads! So easy to use and it can all be categorised, the option to mute certain channels etc so it's entirely tailorable. You could maybe just choose a book from your TBR choices and announce which one is the buddy read book at the end of your Wheel of TBR videos? Easy enough to link the discord then
All those books sound so good. My next year book goal is to finish the one series that im in the middle of (Falling Kingdoms series by Morgan Rhodes). I think that buddy read is a really good idea and Discord is a great place for that.
I would LOVE a group buddy read! I adore hearing other peoples opinions on why they do or don’t like books because it makes me think. Also, as someone who currently has a stack of books due back at the library: The Too Much gene is Real. 😂😅
I’d love to buddy read some books with you! Specially backlisted books cause everybody’s reading new books in their bookclubs and it’s becoming slightly repetitive and it will suit me more personally cause it takes a long time til it reaches where I live 🙄 looking forward to see what you’re doing about it and good luck with all your reading goals, I’m sure you can manage to achieve all of them 😁
Yeah I love the idea that you have a book every month for you and your views to read. Maybe even buddy read with you and becca and make maybe a wee book club?
Buddy reads sounds so fun! I really need to read more non fiction as well. Oh and Lord of the Rings has been collecting dust for far too long on my shelves! I've also only read The Hobbit 😬
I'd love to join in on buddy reading books with you! We have really similar taste, especially in fantasy so I think that would be great 😍 I wish you a wonderful New Year!
I love that you used some of your goals to balance out other goals. Like the one with the hyped releases and the library books! I also put the attempt to reduce my readathoning on my goals for next year.
Not sure if anyone else suggested this, but what about somehow adding these as prompts to the wheel of tbr? If they aren't already one of the possible prompts I mean.
I think your goals are super realistic!! I love it. I’m always down for a buddy read. And I am the queen of audiobooks so let me know if you are curious of which ones are good on audio
I’m the same with non fiction and I pick the same as you spookily enough. I go for talking with serial killers 😳 and as I have had depression and anxiety disorder for so long with a whole host of other stuff I try the self help books too ( not that I think they help as I’m still no different) 😫)
Lilme_78 thanks so much my love! ❤️ Yesss I forgot that Steph is using discord, I’ll ask her! 🙌 I feel you on those self help books haha. I hope you’re doing okay my dude! Ahhh the wishlist, ok I’ll give you the link hahaha. But NO OBLIGATIONS! www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/2PVPGJO7940YN?ref_=wl_share ❤️❤️❤️
I’m similar to you, I’m a bit hit and miss with YA fantasy. I do like it though I just try and steer away from the hype! Otherwise it sends me astray. AH, so happy you’re gonna be reading Hobb & The Blade Itself! If you have any questions about the reading order of Abercrombie or Hobb pls just ask, I’m up to date. Enjoy! I would absolutely love to buddy read books with you! Discord would be a great platform for that. I love your goals! Also, Angel's Game is definitely a companion novel, some connections but not a sequel at all.
Yess, definitely give non-fiction a try! Recently, I loved Everything is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo or Rising Strong by Brené Brown - both great audiobooks that are on Scribd :- ) Waiting a bit for reviews and using your library more is definitely a good idea :- ) I finally read a Stephen King book - The Institute - and I loved it and so I definitely recommend it! Good luck with all of your goals and also taking things easy :- )
audiobooks have been the best thing to happen to me this year and I wouldn’t be surprised if I have ended up reading over a third of the books this year on audio! and it means that I’m always able to have at least 2 books on the go!
To make it a pinch easier on you I'd suggest making each goal a wheel prompt so at least once and a while they'll come up as part of your TBR and not as something extra.
I had a goal to read 10 nonfiction books in 2019... I actually read 2 and a half. Haha. I'm setting the same goal again this year. I have loads and obviously I bought them because I was interested so I just need to actually pick them up!
My goals are: to not buy any books (I have a limit of 7 books but charity shop books are unlimited lol), just read ones on my shelf, read the books I’ve written on my must read in 2020 list and to READ THE PRIORY OF THE ORANGE TREE!
Hey Codie, I wish you luck in your 2020 goals! You're going to fall in love with Overdrive! You can borrow as many books/audiobooks as you want. We do have one goal in common from my 2020 Reading Goal video which is reading more big books. Looking at this video, I have more big books to add to my list.
Would love to buddy read some stuff next year. I've had Robert Jordans Wheel of Time book 1 and the Joe Abercrombie one on my bookshelf for absolutely ages....too scared to pick it up..... daunting reads!
Merphy Napier does a buddy read on a free server and I can't for the life of me remember it. She is on Booktube and every TBR video she does she mentions it. I might try to do some of the buddy reading but I don't read particularly fast, but the boys are almost 1 so I can read a little more than I have been.
Yay for goals! Looking forward to seeing your progress. ABookOlive has soooo many nonfiction reviews and recommendations, I've gotten quite a few from her. I've also gotten a lot of recommendations for nonfiction from Stuff You Missed in History Class podcast. Good luck!
Yes I also love buddy reads! I love to way Merphy Napier does her buddy reads, it's trough discord and every month she picks maybe 5 books and we vote for what book we would like to buddy read 😄
Would love to buddy read stuff with you. I can only read stuff I’m extremely keen for, so a situation where we can dip in and out easily would be amazing.
I am working on my reading goals too. I would love to do buddy reads. I have never used discord but would be willing to learn. Another thought is creating a Facebook Book Club like some other BookTubers do for buddy reads. Since I haven't read a lot of series, I hope that if we read a series it would be the first book in that series. I would love to try different genres too.
i stopped going to my library as most of the decent books you had to reserve them and they would cost between 60P and £3 for requests outside and I found buying the books myself worked out cheaper. i do use overdrive but again most of the books you have to go to holds. as for the buddy reading id lovvvvvvvvvvve to do one with you
tracey vince wow that’s crazy that buying the books is actually cheaper! I’m so lucky coz my library is really good and I need to take advantage of it. Yayyyy I’ll need to figure out a way to do it! :D
I love goals videos, and buddy reads are always something I try to participate in. BookswithEmilyFox did her monthly "big book" challenge and buddy read with whoever wanted to through Goodreads. Merphy did Caravan and Discord. Elliot did small groups on Voxer and Instagram, and she also did a Facebook group.
Great goals! Also the pronunciation of Jean in the Scott Lynch books has been addressed by the author and he's said 'Jean' is 'Zhaun,' in the French fashion, rather than 'Jeen.'
king every other month? bold, i love it
I love the Slytherin vibes you’re giving off in this video!! Also I think it’s really great that you’re prioritising books you love because it is so easy to pressure yourself to read outside of comfort zones. ❤️❤️

Buddy reads are like the new book club-I’m in! 🤗
Awesome! I love the idea of buddy reading 😊
I hadn’t even thought of setting reading goals that weren’t just the number of books to read within a read, you’ve thought of so many!
Theses definitely inspire me for my own goals for 2020 :)
happy new year and happy reading, beautiful! friendly reminder that i love you and im proud of youuuu! 💖xx
Yaaay, buddy reads are fun!
Codie’s slytherin is showing 😜
A buddy read group is such a good idea! 10/10 would join 👌🏻
Hope you have a good New Year!
A buddy read group sounds amazing 💖

Byzans sounds like a good app for buddy reading... I’d love to join in 😊 Happy New Year Codie!
Elizabeth Mackay yayyyy! I’ll check out Byzans 😊 happy new year my love! I hope you have a fantastic start to the new year ❤️
Love the idea for a group buddy read - especially if they're backlist books or if you're waiting long enough for your library to get a copy of a new release.

Hey Codie a way to help you to possibly make sure you are reading books that fit your goals is to add some new prompts to you wheel of TBR that specifically has to do with your goals. Good luck with your 2020 goals.
I really need to read more non fiction too! yeeess fantasy ^^

Love to see more adult fantasy!
Very cool plans Codie! Love it! And you know what I’m buddy reading with Gav and Jade in January?! SKYWARD! Omg we are going to tackle some SANDERSON! Are you proud? 😏 And YES I will 100% buddy read with you! Would be so much fun! 🖤😘
I’d love a buddy reading system! I’ve never done it before! It sounds like so much fun!
loving the Slytherin vibes haha
I hope to get to more Adult Sci-fi this year or just science books...
being more chilled about everything is also one of my goals!
I definitely relate to having no chill during Readathons. "It's not real life Amanda, relax." Maybe we need a support group? 😂
I’d definitely love a buddy read group ❤️
The angel's game is, in fact, a prequel. The next two books in the series are direct to The Shadow of The Wind. And I LOVE THEM. The Angel's Game have a Stephen King vibe that I absolutely ADORED. My resilutions are SOOOO similar, it's scary!

So many great goals! I would love to do the buddy reads!
The only non-fiction you need to read is my biography, it’s an absolute page turner!
This is a great video but I'm soo distracted by your jumper. It's so pretty!😊
Clara Byrne haha thanks so much my love! 😊❤️

I love that you used some of your goals to balance out other goals. Like the one with the hyped releases and the library books! I also put the attempt to reduce my readathoning on my goals for next year.
Goals for 2020. Read a book every week. How it’ll go? Idk but I’m gonna go for it and hope for the best!

I think your goals are super realistic!! I love it. I’m always down for a buddy read. And I am the queen of audiobooks so let me know if you are curious of which ones are good on audio
Hey my angel of the pages 🤗👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼
I’m the same with non fiction and I pick the same as you spookily enough. I go for talking with serial killers 😳 and as I have had depression and anxiety disorder for so long with a whole host of other stuff I try the self help books too ( not that I think they help as I’m still no different) 😫)
Oh I haven’t forgotten as well....wish list as my angel of the pages gift is still outstanding... PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE Codie 🙏👼📖🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Yes I am up for Buddy Reads whoop whoop. Speak to Steph as we are using discord for her contemporary book club xx
Loved the video Codie 🌹 thank you
Lilme_78 thanks so much my love! ❤️ Yesss I forgot that Steph is using discord, I’ll ask her! 🙌 I feel you on those self help books haha. I hope you’re doing okay my dude! Ahhh the wishlist, ok I’ll give you the link hahaha. But NO OBLIGATIONS! www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/2PVPGJO7940YN?ref_=wl_share
❤️❤️❤️
I’m similar to you, I’m a bit hit and miss with YA fantasy. I do like it though I just try and steer away from the hype! Otherwise it sends me astray. AH, so happy you’re gonna be reading Hobb & The Blade Itself! If you have any questions about the reading order of Abercrombie or Hobb pls just ask, I’m up to date. Enjoy! An exciting reading year awaits you. :D
PS: The Blade Itself is brilliant on audio, the narrator does so many voices and variations so I’d definitely recommend them!
I would love a buddy read!
Buddy read would be fun.
Some really awesome goals! If you ever wanna do a buddy read I'd 100% be up for it, I've never actually done one so it'd be fun
audiobooks have been the best thing to happen to me this year and I wouldn’t be surprised if I have ended up reading over a third of the books this year on audio! and it means that I’m always able to have at least 2 books on the go!
I’m up for buddy reads :) discord seems a good way to go
I think it’s pretty standard that if there’s a waiting list for a book at the library then you can’t postpone the due date
scott lynch says jean is pronounced “in the french fashion.” :) love your channel so much, can’t wait for all your 2020 content. keen for buddy reads!
That's how it's pronounced in the audio! When I saw "Jean" and not "John" in print after reading the first via audio, I was so confused 😂
To make it a pinch easier on you I'd suggest making each goal a wheel prompt so at least once and a while they'll come up as part of your TBR and not as something extra.
You should add library book to your wheel of tbr
Yes definitely down for buddy reads discord would be awesome
I had a goal to read 10 nonfiction books in 2019... I actually read 2 and a half. Haha. I'm setting the same goal again this year. I have loads and obviously I bought them because I was interested so I just need to actually pick them up!
I am planning on reading some more classics in 2020 so would love to buddy read either some Charles Dickens or Jane Austen especially in the new year
Yes I would love a buddy read❤
I’d love to buddy read some books with you.
Mitali Rajput yayyyy! I’ll try to figure something out :)
My goals are: to not buy any books (I have a limit of 7 books but charity shop books are unlimited lol), just read ones on my shelf, read the books I’ve written on my must read in 2020 list and to READ THE PRIORY OF THE ORANGE TREE!
i would love to join in some buddy reads!! also need to finish the cruel prince series this year lol :)
Hey Codie, I wish you luck in your 2020 goals! You're going to fall in love with Overdrive! You can borrow as many books/audiobooks as you want. I love your goals hope you can do them!! ❤️but love you wheel tbr lots !!
Grace Taylor thanks so much my love! Good luck with your goals too ❤️
Great goals! I'm especially interested in the nonfiction books you'll pick up.
Merphy Napier does a buddy read on a free server and I can't for the life of me remember it. She is on Booktube and every TBR video she does she mentions it.
I might try to do some of the buddy reading but I don't read particularly fast, but the boys are almost 1 so I can read a little more than I have been.
Would love to buddy read!! ❤️📚
Yay for goals! Looking forward to seeing your progress.
ABookOlive has soooo many nonfiction reviews and recommendations, I've gotten quite a few from her. I've also gotten a lot of recommendations for nonfiction from Stuff You Missed in History Class podcast. Good luck!
I am currently reading it and plan on reading The shining and doctor sleep on audio next and then pet cemetery
I hope you’ll enjoy them! The shining, IT and per cemetery are 3 of my fav Stephen kings :)
Yay, I love The Blade Itself!
I would love to buddy read depending on the book
Would love to do some buddy reads!!
I wrapped up all my books and by end of 2020 if still wrapped i have to put to charity (she says knowing probs wont 🤪🤫)
Okay but where is your sweater and necklace from though?!
Yes I also love buddy reads! I love to way Merphy Napier does her buddy reads, it's trough discord and every month she picks maybe 5 books and we vote for what book we would like to buddy read 😄
I love buddy reads or book clubs so if we can figure it out I would love to read books more outside my comfort zone and join in ☺️💜
candyflosskitten23 yayyyy! I’ll try and figure out a way to do it 😊❤️
Would love to buddy read stuff with you. I can only read stuff I’m extremely keen for, so a situation where we can dip in and out easily would be amazing.
I’d love to buddy read books with you!! 😊
Always starting new series too, it's picking up the sequels that's the hard part!
Also I love your top. You look lovely in green. ♥️
Beth E thanks so much Beth! ❤️
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned Caravan - it links in with discord and you can set a reading plan and all that good stuff anddddd it’s free!!
