    I'm dumb and forgot to put both the link to Mr Coddlestone's video of the special legacy intro and the link to my ASMR channel in the description. It has been fixed and the links can now be found there! Sorry about that one.

    It could be argued that the Warrior of Light is so apt at learning the skills of a Job because they have eight lifetimes and additional souls worth of memories to pull from to learn with.
    Personally, I feel that in every age of the Source when 'a hero rose up to stop the evil Ascians' that might have been 'our' WoL. Possibly failing because the rejoinings happened and reclaiming a part of their soul in the process.
    We may be winning now because of attrition. Our soul/self having finally gotten strong enough to tip the scale. The Ascians do note that Zodiark only needs one rejoining to break free, too...

    One thing I love is the developing sass and wit of the WOL. Around Shadowbringers they really give you more dialogue options and the stuff from the Alliance Raids especially are hilarious and gives so much personality to your character.

    What about the WoL’s aversion to drinks offered to them? Wouldn’t that count as a minor aspect of their personality since it’s seems unaffected by personal choice?

    • @SaltExarch
      @SaltExarch  2 года назад +3

      I think the idea that the WoL has an aversion to drinks offered to them is a very valid interpretation of the cutscene of the dinner with Aymeric, but I would like to point out that that is the only cutscene in which the WoL demonstrates this behavior, and that that particular dinner was taking place under very similar circumstances to the dinner with Nanamo that lead to her attempted assassination. On top of that, the WoL had recently been poisoned themselves. You could interpret it as the first sign that the WoL has a newfound aversion to being offered drinks, or it could just be them being specifically wary of that particular situation turning sour, especially considering Ishgard's political climate at the time. Also, there are future dialogue options you can pick that seem to suggest the Warrior of Light is happy to accept drinks they're offered in celebration. So I don't really think I can call an aversion to being offered drinks a general part of the Warrior of Light's personality, rather I think it's another thing that's left up to the interpretation of the player.

      @@acgearsandarms1343 As mentioned, the Aymeric cutscene is really the only hint at something like that in the game as far as I know, outside of possible optional dialogue that I might have glossed over (but it being optional already means it's up to the player to decide).

    In Stormblood, just before Bardam's mettle, as a male au'ra, Hien has a line that says something along the lines of "you are not from this land, but your ancesters were" thus emplying that au'ra WoL comes from a tribe (or just parents) that left Azim Steppe at some point, similar to Sigurds tribe. I haven't done dark knights story to know if there are other interesting tidbits to add though.
    Just an interesting observation on WoLs past. I wouldn't be surprised if there are other little details for other races in specific areas.

      Elidibus turned into The Warrior of Light for two reasons as far as I've reasoned.
      First of all as a foil to ourselves. We were the Warrior of Darkness, it needs a Warrior of Light.
      Secondly. After the Sundering Elidibus was cast adrifit for a while. We see this in an echo in 5.3. At the point he still felt responsible for all his friends, his fellow Ancients. He had withdrawn himself from Zodiark for the reason to help and felt that he needed to keep that hope in a future alive. He latched on to the first person he felt attuned to and that turned out to be Mr Final Fantasy himself.
      As such, when he finally confronted us he did so in the only form he could recall was meant to be a warrior for hope, for good... for Light.

    • @SaltExarch
      @SaltExarch  2 года назад +1

      Thordan basically just freaked out that we were freakishly strong, a very standard reaction that I go over when talking about the WoL's strength. I don't really think he "saw" anything beyond that, he was just convinced he had just become unstoppable and then you turn around and defeat him.

And at the end when he widened his eyes i think,he recognized something or someone in us that something probably being this "Azem" guy the Mr.Exarch talked about,cus when that scene happened i too was wondering who my WoL truly was and the conclusion i came up with,was that maybe he was some sort of secret god in the FF14 world,i even assumed that maybe he himself too was an Ascian that deffected from the ascians or someone from Alakahali's people or is it Akahali?...Either way those were my 1st thoughts my 2nd thoughts was that maybe he was a reeincarnation of the Original WoL from FF1.

    The idea that azem rejected the summoning of hydaelyn is something the community states as fact that vexes me. WE DO NOT KNOW THAT FOF SURE! We only at the time of that recording they hadnt answered yet. And that there was a period of coexistence befofe zodiark forced hydaelyns hand.

    • @acgearsandarms1343
      @acgearsandarms1343 2 года назад

      To be fair, why exactly wouldn’t Azem be opposed? Given what we do know, it may not be said outright, but seems kind of in line with their solution. They’ve always been a person to solve problems themselves with friends. Azem was strongly against the plan of summoning a god like entity with Zodiark. So much so that they left their office during a time of crisis. The cost was half the people and some of his closest friends. Then another half of the survivors. Sounds like good enough reason to be adverse to summoning anything on such a scale, regardless of intent.
      I think it’s because it’s the likeliest answer, but hasn’t been proven incorrect. Can’t really win against that unless the devs come out with a definitive answer to put the matter to rest.

      The guy with the black hair is the general representation of the Warrior of Light, because naturally they can't make cinematic trailers personalized to each individual player with their own character. But yes, the character you play as in FFXIV *is* the Warrior of Light, and the game's story makes this abundantly clear.
