I went through ARR when the free trial only went up to lvl 35 and before they pruned out the MSQ.
my only complaint is that they made me cough up money too early to see the rest of ARR, I wanted to see more asap lmao

Even though totorak has been changed, having the final boss killed while you're in a cutscene is actually the real sprout experience, glad you're playing the game as intended.
Do you recommend playing this game? I tried it 1 year ago but the original quest bores me to death
@@warcrimeconnoisseur5238 ARR (1 to 50 and its patches) is a drag, but everything after that is genuinely great. Push through it, it sets up a lot of important lore for future expansions.
@@warcrimeconnoisseur5238 if you're willing to put yourself through 80/100 hours of slogfest then yes, otherwise no. (and to be perfectly honest there are thousands of games with much better storylines with much less time). Also highly raccomend to play with friends.
Ah, the wonders of ARR. The man can make a 30 minute video, compiling tens of hours of playtime, and by the end of it I can still go “yep, still not even close to the part where it all clicks yet”

asmon has always been more of the latter so honestly it was only a matter of time before he clashed with the xiv community

He deliberately would hype it up every time he was going to play, like "FF14 SOON BOIS" constantly, putting "HUGE FF14 STREAM TODAY" in the title, and then wondered why people were getting frustrated when he would sit there browsing reddit or reacting to YT videos for like 4 straight hours. This isn't just FF14 fans, people had been complaining about his overly long "intros" for ages. Yeah some rabid FF14 fanboys are partially to blame, but he did cultivate that sort of environment around the game to begin with. I also don't remember anyone saying he had to read out all the story content, I'm pretty sure that was something he decided to do himself from the beginning.

As someone with ~3k hours played, I can say "Final Fantasy 14 is Second Life with MMORPG elements" is the most accurate description of this game I've ever heard.
3k hr=125days=0.34 years
A third of a year. A third of a year of your life. 4 months. I'm not saying anything for or against. I'm just putting it into perspective.

@@mcfarvo I think it's the case of not having enough content, so far he's only used stuff from the first half of ARR in this video, which you can imagine would be very limiting.
But then again this video is supposed to be an introduction, so it may be limiting on purpose? It's no way close to the length of his WoW videos after all.
How could this HOPE to be as good as the WoW videos when FF14 has no Race Wars and no Genocide to participate in?
FF14's main appeal is the MSQ which doesn't make for great videos since it's 600 hours long.

That's proof that ff14 content can stand on its own if it's done well.
Also the amount of people stalling and not progressing their MSQ is proof that it being the "main appeal" is false. More people have ended up spending time on Glamour than you can imagine, that and the social aspects as well as activities like the Golden Saucer, or even fishing.

After watching the wow series for many many many hours I was delighted to see a new mmo series
Sad part is those comments about ARR are right. Once you get 50+ and hit the first expansion the game seriously starts to open up and you get why so many love it.

Just a correction after the calamity the heroes are sent forward in time and not back in time. Doing the bahamut raids shows why the world did not end.
Also, Gaius is not Cids father :) He was more like his mentor.

Just over a year after I started playing, and I relate SO DAMN HARD to this video.
Right down to only paying attention to the story at level 45 and the Toto-Rak boss being killed while I'm in the cutscene.

Yup... ARR is a snorefest + the longest post-MSQ content out of all the expansions that follows xD Dungeon runs get pretty crazy pretty fast with wall-to-wall pulls. Which is... literally what it means. The tank pulls as much mobs as it and the healer can handle and mow down 4-5+ mob packs at once. Ironically, these wall-to-wall pulls are more hectic than the actual boss fights early on (at least, for the tank + healer). ARR (the base vanilla game) is building up the difficulty slowly so you can get eased into it. Besides, this game is more about social interactions + having fun in general which it has in spades :D Oh, you should definitely visit the Gold Saucer (basically, a casino with some crazy stuff)!
