@@itsbonkerjojo9028 You have to watch Mother couple of times before you can appreciate the subtleties. It's bit like the Usual Suspects where the main character seems to be stupid but he is not, he is just pretending to be stupid. Here, he is manipulating his mother to go and kill the old homeless man. If you look for the director's hint, you can see when the boy goes from stupid to normal and how he uses his mother to get our of jail. This movie make you think and re-watch and that's what make it so great.

I agree, and vice versa as well. I appreciate that the interviewer was actually looking directly at Director Bong while he was speaking despite not understanding anything he said.

@@brokeguy5607 The movie wasn't about the mother even though the title suggested. Like all his movies, you have to watch it many times to get the story. The movie was about the boy who was retarded but gets hit in the head while in prison and becomes normal. He then orchestrates a plans to get out of prison by using his mother to kill the only eye witness to his crime. It's bit like the Usual suspects. Watch it again and look for the clues. How he manipulates his mother by making her feel bad about what she did when he was 5. He sent her to the homeless guy knowing she would kill him. Look at how he lays next to his mother before and after the prison. There is a reason why the director showed both events. These are all subtle hints and they are brilliant.
