Wonderful tribute. Tangerine Dream was also my gateway to electronic music, and I traced my way through them to Klaus' work (and many others). What's really unique about Klaus Schulze compared to a lot of the other EM pioneers is that other artists have their imitators who have copied their musical styles, but the only artist that was remotely similar in style to KS was Bernd Kistenmacher. However, he was a huge influence with artists such as Steve Roach and Kitaro, but it's remarkable that they didn't try to imitate Klaus' unique style. Truly a one-of-a-kind who will never be replaced.
There are a few others formerly. Mario Schönwälder in the beginning or Adelbert von Deyen. Michael Hoenig with the beautiful "Departure from the northern Wasteland" also.
Timewind and Wahnfried 1883.. And Picture Music, ToTem are my favorites from Klaus! He was an innovator not to be duplicated! His sequenced melodies were hypnotic and mind expanding... RIP!
What a shame! I hope that when the end came, he didn't suffer. Many times, I have used SILENT RUNNING from the TRANCEFER album to help me unwind and go to sleep. At least his wonderful music lives on. This video is a great tribute, by the way. Well done!
This has hit me hard. Countless nights getting lost and trancing out to his music as it took me to other worlds, other dimensions, other realities. Now rest in peace Klaus and thank you.
Moondawn was the first LP I bought by Klaus... it was my introduction to this amazing & talented artist.... he will be sadly missed by many fans but we all have his many excellent albums & works to hold on to .... RIP Klaus....
Moondawn was my first klaus album ,what joy to pick up this classic albums from in my case a underground record shop loving cared for by long haired music enthusiasts, live with Arthur Brown album has always as still does fill me with joy n amazement , he made music timeless for us, l am so glad l heard his music's and it made sense. Perfect. Peace brother 🙏
R.I.P Klaus, massive influence on me musically and I’ve travelled to many outer and inner worlds because of his albums. He’ll be sorely missed but I think he’ll still be in the universe somewhere making synth music in the stars. Stay well Dereck, Si ☮️🎶🌟
Great sorrow 😢 The legend is gone! The chapter of the book of music is closed! 🎹 He was one of the greatest 👑creators 🎇 It shaped our sensitivity and emotions 💜 Thank You, Master! Rest with God! R.I.P. 🙏🕯💐
Rest In Peace Klaus Schulze....., one of the first music from my childhood.., it did a lot to me always ... Irrlicht was the first album I had, and then Cyborg.., just great music to get lost in. Klaus made the "Mirage' album years ago when his Brother died , fantastic album Thank you Dereck for this video !!
RIP Klaus!... I couldn't believe it when I saw the title of your video Dereck!... Klaus Schulze has been an important presence in my journey to appreciating electronic and cosmic music. I think even before I started getting into the most famous of them all (ie, the pioneers Tangerine Dream), Klaus Schulze was really the first to show me the way!. I can remember very clearly having my mind blown by listening to "Mirage" in a darkened listening room, and being taken on a mind tripping journey to somewhere that I've never been before in my life!. That was a very powerful and intoxicating experience!, and there have been very few times that I've actually reached similar levels of other-worldliness to that! (though it certainly has happened on multiple occasions to be sure!). I think "Mirage" and "Timewind", and to a certain extent "Bodylove", represent the pinnacle of his early output for me, though it's all worth exploring for sure!. I have all but one of the albums that you showed, and many others that you didn't, but still, I know there are just so many others out there, that it's impossible to get them all! (besides, a little Klaus, usually goes a rather long way!... ). One of the more obscure early projects that Klaus was involved with, was a collaborative effort called 'Code 3', which put out an album on the "Kunstkopf" label called "Planet of Man". This album can be considered the perfect definition of the term 'Cosmic Music' to my mind, and is a real head trip to unfamiliar planetary realms!... an absolute collectors item!.
Mirage was the first LP of Klaus Schulze's that I heard, back in, what, 1976 or '77? It was as if the heavens opened and my mind/spirit were opened up to the One consciousness. I had already been into Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, and Vangelis. For some reason I waited to buy any of Schulze. But my god, when I did!!! He is totally responsible for me writing/playing music despite the fact I had been into synth bands since the early 70s. His music is and always will be my sacred music, my sacred space.
Thanks very much for making this tribute. And you are spot on, that Timewind is a KS classic. RIP Klaus, you took me and I'm sure many others on a cosmic musical journey.
My three heroes all gone , bowie, zappa now klaus , I Brought moondawn in the mid seventies and never looked back , he was an original artist who wrote and played what ever came into his head , always pushing the boundaries not everything worked but when it did , WOW . So R.I.P Mr shulze you wonderful amazing genius
By any measure, the greatest exponent of the electronic sound. Truly a legend in the pantheon of modern music reproduction. His music will live on forever. Such a talent, totally unique. He can never be replaced. Thank you for the wonderful tribute to Klaus. May his soul rest in peace. We lost one of the greats. At least he gave us one final album to enjoy - Deus Arrakis coming in June. Sadly, he didn't live to see its release.
I am glad I saw him live in concert in 1983, 1985, 2001 and 2008. Klaus Schulze was mainly an improviser, so his concerts were always very different and interesting.
KS was a personal icon. Her laid the foundational stones of electronic music and all the sub genres that have followed. I wrote him once and he replied. Thank you for taking the time.
Very good tribute and good to see your collection of lps ,just listening to Fm delight from EM =Trance album , incredibly beautiful track pure Klaus ! R.I.P
Big loss, Klaus was indeed a pioneer. Going to give some TD a listen tonight. Dereck, your song "Love From Above" has been hitting home personally lately- more relevant than ever in this crazy world we are in. Love ya, -Babylonseeker
Just find out about KS passing ten minutes ago. Im at loss. The music has a special place in my heart since decades ago. RIP Klaus your music will live forever.
Well done, Dereck. I had to go back and rewatch your Vangelis video again after watching this tribute to Klaus Schulze, as to my mind they are something of a piece.
Thank You Dereck for remembering Klaus. I’ve known for many years that his illness kept him from playing, and being a bit of a fan of his music concerts I knew that he would eventually past away from my intuition spirit of faith. RIP Grandfather Klaus Schulze.
A well known & respected musician especially in the genre of electronic music.... I became a huge fan of his around '76 in fact the very first album I heard & it was my introduction to him was the album "Moondawn" which I had bought as a young teenager & it absolutely blew me away... from that moment on I was hooked.... great video Dereck....
Thank you for showing and explaining your impressive album collection. Yes, another one of the great fathers of the Berlin School has left us.... And a few days later also Legends like Vangelis and Dave Smith 😔 best regards from Germany
Thank you for this video a beautiful tribute to an amazing and uncompromising artist. KS was a true one off - a pioneer and innovator years ahead of his time. RIP Klaus and thank you for all the amazing music….
Lovely tribute and great collection, Dereck! It's a testament to his scope, influence, and inspiration how he was able to reach across generations, (you and I getting into him at our respective times as teenagers) and hopefully succeeding ones well beyond. RIP to a pioneer. -Carm
Klaus made clear what the real goal of electronic music should be, to use technology and new sounds in order to dig deep in our minds as a meaningful self-exploration, true electronic music lovers will treasure his lesson, R.I.P.
Thank you for this video. I learned yesterday that K.S. passed away. How many hours i have listen his music ? I don't know. Some many travels in dream i made with his music. A lot of musicians must thank your work. RIP Klaus Schulze.
true pilot of purple twilight. a god of electronic music, i love all the ones you showed (minus picture music, sorry klaus!). his stuff with lisa gerrard is great too, something to look for. RIP.
That loss shocked me... as an appreciaciating guy of the Quasimidi Polymorph, the more I feel sorry for losing such an amazing guy. Bless you, all the best, and find your way out there to reach for the universe. Safe journey, Klaus! See you then/there!

I’m a late Klaus Schulze fan. I love the sound of analogue synthesizer. I did not know he had so much album. Thanks for the info and tribute.
Of course.
His discography is massive. More than 100 albums across 50+ years.

My all time hero and the reason I bought my first synth.
