Dude. That's a driver. I live next to Tahuya 4X4 trails and own two jeeps. (and 2 K-5's, and a rock buggy) I build em all day long. The YJ is good if you want to leave it stock and not blow a wad. The leaf springs are solid, and tried and true. But slightly limiting on doing cheap builds. A pair of lockers and a bit of lift to cover tires, you're done, eith a good driver that is more than capable of getting you in trouble. Awesome rig. The TJ and later, with the control rods and coils are the builders that can go where you point. But cost bank to get them dependable. Br good, have fun.
Good on the dad for getting his kid a new car. I love old jeeps and old vehicles in general but airbags and crashworthiness have improved so much in the ~3 decades since this car was made. Love this jeep, looks like every party involved got some good out of it!
What memories this brought back. I bought a 92 YJ brandspankin new off the lot in Columbus OH. Black, soft top, full gauges, no radio, no ac, full carpet, running boards. Loved it for 275,000 miles (she was a Flintstones Jeep by that point, but yes I really got 275k out of her!)! Same 4 cylinder which was notorious for bad wrist pins. I attribute the engines lifespan to Amsoil. In my 60 years, 45 of them owning many 4 and 2 wheeled vehicles and quite a few different Jeeps - my YJ is in the top 3 all time favorites. I put a 2" shackle lift on it, squeezed 32x10 Dunlaps on white American Racing wagon wheels in there and she was unstoppable. Looked like a big ole Tonka Truck! Great vid as always Isaac!! Love seeing you take what many consider bone-yard material and getting it back on the road! Thanks for all the great videos!!!
Love the old Jeep. I had one with the 4 cylinder and one with the 6 they were both so much fun in the mountains in British Columbia. And repairs were cheap and easy. Would recommend a bench vice on the front bumper and carrying spare u joints and a good hammer
Lean the hood against the windsheild and it will give you more room to work and the prop rod out of the way. Good video to be wearing a JYD shirt, channel your inner Kevin.
I loved my 1988 Jeep YJ.2.5 4cyl . It was the first car i bought new. Was $8999 with 0 options. Didn't even have AC or a back seat. AC was a dealer installed option anyways, they didn't give with AC from factory back then. It had 4.10 gears and crawled great. The manual 5spd had to rebuilt and eventually swapped in a fuel injected HO 4.0 i6 from the mid 90s. Eventually sold it in 2004 for $1500 😢
Love you dude. You have taught me so many things, over so many years of watching on both channels. Its something i greatly appreciate and look forward to seeing every week... I teared up a bit seeing your dad at the end of this. RIP, and my genuine condolences. Seeing you keep going is inspiring, and thank you again
I'm sorry mate, for the loss of your dad.. the pain is truly deep and hurts.. I lost mine in june of this year.. my heart goes out to you. Sending love and prayers. Hang in there man.. BTW love the content and cars and camera
Howdy Isaac, Joel Schuder here.i always dig your view on stuff it's more genuine than most.i know this don't go with the topic but the power tour through your prospective is as close as I'll get.and Rollin with you would be the way to go.thanx .. keep em rollin my friend. Adios.
What a silly question lol, jeeps like this sometimes get put away for months or years but as soon as you give a little love they come back to life as if being reborn. Congrats on the buy and have fun with her from a fellow yj owner 😊 ps I have let mine sit for a bit calipers and hoses are what look at when sitting that long.
499.00 finally so good luck has headed your way. Good for you and good luck with your Jeep. Thanks for the fun video always enjoy them. Be well Bill in Fort Wayne Indiana
Love a good YJ! I have a 95 YJ with a 302 swap in it. Essentially the running gear out of a 1st gen bronco. C4 Trans into a twin stick dana 20 t case with a 8.8 rear axle. It's been unstoppable in most situations. I love this project!
This is so cool watching someone that I’ve watched since before I could drive work on a jeep like mine. I have a 97 tj that I blew the motor in. I swapped in another 4 cylinder out of a 92 yj and had to swap over some stuff to make it work. Crazy to think I can watch a video of one of my childhood hero’s work on something I have worked on. It’d be awesome to see a build on this thing.
That is one hell of a score. Even as 2.5 you could flip that for a few $k just how it sits. You need to give us a peek at the frame for rust issues, but based on how well the body looks, it might be in decent shape. Nice work! Im jealous 😂
First, nice find! Second, insanely jealous something from the 90's isn't all rotted away like up here in Mass.( my buddy picked up a 10 yr old Chevy p-up w 12,000miles on it, frame and crossmembers gone from the cab back. That took some welding let me tell ya.) Third, AMC used to call those 4cylinders the Hurricane Engines(Jesus wept) ! I guess that makes the 6's the tornados, and the 8's Armageddons, LOL! Great video Ike, I'm glad it went good for you, and keep up the great content, it's keeping old dogs like me from sitting on the porch!
Great to watch this video. WHAT A GREAT DEAL Dude. Bloody hell you dropped lucky there. P. S,,, when you do the night time drives,, just use one of your magnetic 12v led lamps above your head or next to the camera pointing at you so we can flipping see you dude.. As I said, great video. Can't wait for the next instalment. Oh,, please give it a good scrub. Forget all the patina rubbish on this one please.. Make it nice and clean and shiny as you can, man.. ✌️👍🇬🇧
a jeep is on my bucket list but around here literally every jeep i saw on craigs list was over a 1000 not running missing critical parts (usually engines and transmissions) wrecked or just rusted out
Excellent video Issac :) yes my Cousin Nancey has 1994 Suzski Samaria 2 door Jeep in black color plus hard top also convertible top also take doors type she bought brand new and got 31 inches tires and 4×4 also 4 cylinder to basic no Air Conditioning and 5 speed Manual transmission! Also 2017 Jeep Cherokee 4 door it 4×4 more options too in Black body and grey Interior plus V6 motor and Automatic transmission she off road both to!
Bought a 95 Wrangler for $500 two years ago. It had been sitting for about 6 years and owner said he just couldn't get it to run. $400 pcm and a new fuel pump and it's good to go, not to mention it has absolutely ZERO rust!! 4cyl with 5spd is what mine is.
Since you liked it I can tell you more had a I think 203 gear drive transfer case 350 automatic transmission I did a spring over axle conversion It was back in the day so I had to fabricate all my mounts total of 21 inches of lift It was nice 3-in body lift also
Had a 96 yj. loved it, when I had to sell it, my young son, hugged the tires, as it went down the driveway, for 3000 should have never sold it way better shape, tried to save our home from his drug mothers forecloser? Then she re nigged, on the chapter of paying outside bills. while I was paying all the bills. It had after market air, but never used it, for I drove even in the winter mostly with just the top and no doors. Just a tarp over it when it would rain or snow, and wore comfy clothes. Just miss this great land buddy, Jeep less now. Mine was given to me by my bestie hunting bud, and should have never sold it. just to keep our home. Great video. see ya.
That’s a fun little project! 👍 I’m trying myself to find some inspiration to get my ’89 Volvo 745 glt 16 valve running.... Just one rusty spot and it needs a new clutch... Best wishes from a cold and rainy Sweden! 🇸🇪
Would love a series on this one bubba... used to have a YJ myself. Had the 4.2 6cyl with a 5 spd. Unfortunately the crappy BA-10... but I loved it! By the way....lean that hood all the way back! It'll rest on the window frame.
I have a 94 and definitely the most fun vehicle I’ve ever driven. 2.5 are nearly bulletproof. Nearly 250k. You’ll kill that 2.5 with a/c. Replace the fan with an electric fan and you’ll get a tiny bit more hp.
It's a good 4-cylinder but it's a good thing it doesn't have air conditioning, because it would rob that engine of what little power it has, and let's be honest that thing doesn't really need power steering.... I agree , would make a cool series.
Perfect as is.... Those crank sensor are unobtainable... got coworker that drove in for oil changed dies in parking lot, hast found sensor yet been 4 months. wash daily it. perfect as is.
10:33 The engine releases it's own confetti in celebration of it's first start up in years.
At 10:27 the battery moved all by itself in anticipation! 😂😂😂
you should turn this into a series. definitely could be a good off road build
Totally agree with you on that mate
Dude. That's a driver.

Awesome rig.
The TJ and later, with the control rods and coils are the builders that can go where you point. But cost bank to get them dependable.
Br good, have fun.
Pretty much a deal of a lifetime, Congratulations Isaac.
I have a '91 Wrangler, 2.5L 4cyl. The Jeep continues to run like a top with almost 200,000 miles on the rig. Onward!
My'91 Wrangler came with the factory AC. I usually use the 'window down' air conditioning.
the 2.5 has 4:10 gears in the axles.....replace the 2.5 with the 4.0 and a stick and you have a monster
Good on the dad for getting his kid a new car. I love old jeeps and old vehicles in general but airbags and crashworthiness have improved so much in the ~3 decades since this car was made. Love this jeep, looks like every party involved got some good out of it!
Isaac you just proved knowledge is power! Great find!
Bollocks! That sticker on the back is gold. British word for cahonez. What a lil bargain! Loved this vid.
RIP Dad, thoughts are with you bud.
❤
I would love to see you and all the cars & cameras crew give your work shop a makeover. Total clean out and update. I would love to watch that series.
Dang...$500 for a not rusted out, not crashed, and still has engine and trans Jeep??!! Slammin deal! Thanks for the videos! 👍👍

Wow Ike you sure were lucky to find this Jeep want to see more of this.
Those YJs are very good vehicles, would love to have another one!
Love the old Jeep. I had one with the 4 cylinder and one with the 6 they were both so much fun in the mountains in British Columbia. And repairs were cheap and easy. Would recommend a bench vice on the front bumper and carrying spare u joints and a good hammer
Clean it , keep it and enjoy it.
Very Awesome score. 👍❤️👍
I lost my dad too this year. 91. Love the video's! Especially the Volvos!✌
Wow, ya stole it! 😎 Can't believe a battery cable terminal was all that was wrong with it. 😅
@ClickOnProfile_5 Likewise!
*REPORTED*
Lean the hood against the windsheild and it will give you more room to work and the prop rod out of the way. Good video to be wearing a JYD shirt, channel your inner Kevin.
What a steal man! Id clean it up and modify! Thats a perfect price point to start a rock crawler build!

You lucky dog. I'm happy for you. It's nice when things work out better than expected.
So excited for you. Great find and lucky on the quick restoration! If I had more time I'd love to try to find something like this

Nice to see you get a great deal and without a lot of work too, nice one Isaac .
Cool video and my favorite part was where you tugged on the "Oh Shit" handle ✌️
If anyone can get it to run, it's gotta be You! Wow what a Sweet Deal!!!
That would be fun with a worn-out small block.
We have frame problems with those jeeps in Maryland
Finally a jeep! Sweet find !
😊 thanks 🙏 for the video bro 🎉....JJ.... Jonjon....
That is a cool machine! And speaking of that, maybe the alleged "engine trouble" was an overheating issue... have fun with it!

Yeah do a couple reviving jeep videos, cant wait for the powerwash! 😄
I did a motor swap on one of these same year 92 in the late '90s Chevy 3/4 ton axles 327 V8 It was a beast 40 in tires. Food for thought
Since you liked it I can tell you more had a I think 203 gear drive transfer case 350 automatic transmission I did a spring over axle conversion It was back in the day so I had to fabricate all my mounts total of 21 inches of lift It was nice 3-in body lift also

Some people have all the luck, lol. That's awesome, see you soon.
Might we be seeing a hearse for Halloween? Nice score on the Jeep. Fun machines on and off-road.
Possibly!
You got pretty blessed on that one . Like it keep up the great work
nice score! it was good meeting you at Smokeout this year, I'm the guy that had the cast on his arm after breaking his thumb fishing...
Damn. Wish mine was $499. But swapping my old 4 banger to a V8 tends to raise the cost a bit. Raises the fun too!
been looking for one thats not rusted out. thats a crazy good deal
Killer deal. Those are still very desirable
He shoots....he scores!
Looks a lot like my Jeep. My 93 has a 2.5 in it and has over 380k miles on it. Runs like a sewing machine. Would love to see this one fixed up.
happy bday glad you got something nice for yourself ;)
Man, you are gonna have a ton of fun with that Jeep!
That’s a fun little project! 👍 I’m trying myself to find some inspiration to get my ’89 Volvo 745 glt 16 valve running.... Just one rusty spot and it needs a new clutch... Best wishes from a cold and rainy Sweden! 🇸🇪
That as got to be the bargain of the year.great video
Holy Cow Man! That jeep is going to be fun!
Your garage is messier than mine awesome !!!!!

Would love a series on this one bubba... used to have a YJ myself. Had the 4.2 6cyl with a 5 spd. Unfortunately the crappy BA-10... but I loved it!

OHHHH MAN!!! I could only dream to find an early 90s wrangler, always wanted to do a Jurassic Park replica lol
Great find.

You’ll kill that 2.5 with a/c.

Wish I could have one! Great video!
Definitely a froad’n truck series right here! Bet that thing is decent
Hope you're having an excellent weekend Isaac
That’s awesome you can get something cool like that for so cheap. Here in California NOTHING is cheap 🤑
It's a good 4-cylinder but it's a good thing it doesn't have air conditioning, because it would rob that engine of what little power it has, and let's be honest that thing doesn't really need power steering.... I agree , would make a cool series.
Good score! 👍👍
My son had the 93 yj with the 2.5 manual. Wouldn't go much over 65 but it was fun
Dude you sure come across some cool bargains!! Congrats on that Jeep! 👍
I hope you have a great birthday!
Very nice jeep 🚙 👌 😊
Digging the CJ in the background.
