- ( tfl-studios.com/ ) Check out our new spot to find ALL our content, from news to videos and our podcasts! The Rivian R1T is billed as one honest-to-goodness truck, even with its all-electric design, quad-motor setup and large battery. With all that stuff making for one heavy rig, can its payload still allow Rivian's new pickup to actually work as a truck? Let's find out!

Up till now there has been some good coverage of the Rivian including Long Way up and another outlet doing the trans America but the coverage still has been very limited. TFL is up there now in having the best Rivian content for those like myself who are interested to see how the first EV pickup to market performs. This video is a great marriage of the newest pickup tech meets some good old school pickup work. Great content TFL!
One of the rare good and well written youtube comments. Thanks
TFL does some great work!
Because TFL is a car channel, not a tech channel.
Rivian PR people obviously not too smart for not providing a tester.... I tried to order one, but waiting close to 2 years is simply not an option...
FR...
Tommy knows how to grab the audience and keep us entertained...
This guy right here is the prime example of the real difference between people who actually use trucks for work and the people that have pavement princess trucks.
He's not concerned about hp, torque, or every little spec number, huge lifts, crazy off road tires or any of the other dumb crazy stuff that some people put on their trucks.
His mindset is...will it do what I need it to do.
Bulk of these will be pavement princesses
@@robertryan7204 They are built to be...
@@kanalvoll5416 Built to be? Batteries are fragile elements. Think of the Smartphones, Tesla fires
Pretty sure the rivian trucks that went from the tip of South America up to the US on an expedition were not pavement princesses.
@@Deetroiter depends where they drove. One off expeditions are not indicators of durability over time. Some Samsung smartphones operated quite well for a while, until more than a few burst into flames
Wow David is really a cool guy, actually review and doing research about it! Please keep doing videos with David. Awesome video guys!!!
Yeah.. + definitely some more tests with Rivian R1T..
Always love the videos with David guest starring/hosting!
The 100 Gallon Electric tank in the skit at the end of the video. 😂😂
I agree!
Yah he sounds very genuine
Great to see some type of test without without a fleet of support vehicles and spare parts. Speaking as a man who built a loading dock on his own property and knows a little about work, having David involved in the testing gives it a 5 star rating. Thanks again.
Lmfao ...ok beta
David is perfect for this type of stuff. You should have him on more often.
This is why I needed TFL to review the R1T, first time seeing this truck in real-world use. Excellent video and excellent truck.
truth
Agreed
All the other reviews are from paid shills or investors. TFL are the only guys I trust. Let’s hope they stay honest.
This wasn't a real test... this was a single trip not a hard day's work
@@Cameron-ls3qt used only 8% of the battery what more do you need?
The R1T has a few design elements that I wasn't really sure about when looking at the online configurator or pictures, but seeing them *in* the environment really softens up my impression of it. I think it looks good.
Black out that center headlight bar and just leave the two side bars & oval lights. Seen posts from people online, they look great!!
Rivian is impressive, you guys making that plywood bedliner was a great idea
Not really.. if I have to line the bed with plywood to avoid damaging it then it isn't a good bed. I get their excuse, but it still isn't great optics.
@@cldude691 Its not their truck and its not a journalist vehicle/test vehicle either, someone wants it back at the end, it makes perfect sense to protect it for them. If I loaned my vehicle and it came back damaged or marked up I'd be pissed too
@@FracturedGoblin its called being considerate.
@@cldude691 I line my bed with a plastic bed liner. What’s your point? If there is one it’s not valid.
@@cldude691 not their truck. they need to baby it cosmetically at least.
I'm 70 plus years, been around trucks, heavy equipment , logging and construction since I was 10. I really like the rivian, good looks and great features. 300 miles per day range is plenty for a lot of working guys. If I were young it would be on my shopping list. I hope they succeed. Also a good, simple, real world review. Most of us don't dream of rock climbing in Moab.
You have a lot of wisdom than most tech savvy people I have seen. You are right about 300 plus mile range.
@@venunarla A little honesty helps. With all the lies demanding 600 mile ranges in EVs even fooled me, until I verify the facts and check back my ICE experience. I always budget my ICE to have a range of 200 miles because I don't trust the specified full tank range. In a traffic jam, the fuel get burned rapidly. Checking specs of F150, the longest range is only 500 miles, at 20 miles per gallon, a very unrealistic real world range.
@@othmanskn yeah lot of people overestimate what range actually they need. 300 miles is a comfortable range. Except for the occasional 2 or 3 long trips in a year , most find 50-150 mile range is most they use per day…and those 3 long trips….with current ev charging speeds at 200kw, the long trips don’t look that bad either, they just 1-2hr more time for 1000 miles . So it doesn’t make sense to crave for more batteries which add only add weight
I know they say this isnt for ranch/farm use, but I think its perfect. Usually ranch trucks arent doing too much mileage on a daily basis and just go around the property, and by charging on the property they technically never even have to go to town to grab gas.
Yeah a work truck model would make total sense and I’d imagine if they can ramp up production volume they’ll do one but I’m sure it’s extremely difficult to come out of the gate as a new company with a high volume low price vehicle in year one of production.
And if you have on-site tanks, it becomes a security issue - especially in rural Canada where you don't have the same ability to defend your property that you would in the States. EV's would solve that problem!
Depends on the farm. Won’t do any good with livestock. Will it tow? Yeah but the battery depreciation won’t be good for long trips trying to charge with a trailer full of livestock.
I’m a Tesla owner and live in Texas. I wouldn’t recommend electric for livestock one bit. Otherwise yes. It’s great.
Only if it had a real usable bed....... 4.5 ft doesn't cut it on any farm
@@willrector9716 If only it would fit 4x8 sheets of plywood or a bunch of 7' logs. Oh wait, the video showed it doing both.
The pickup truck industry has gone primarily to short bed pickups, because those are what sell, meaning thats what most people want.
Tommy and David make a great team. One of the best videos TFL has done yet!
That gear tunnel thing looks really useful. What a good idea, I can see that being implemented on other trucks.
Unless other trucks stop using ladder frame shassis then they will never be able to use a gear tunnel. On the Rivian it is possible because it is a body on frame vehicle.
@@migueljardim8177 the lack of a driveshaft or exhaust, and fuel lines help too.
@@RedWingsninetyone Yeah that too, for example the Ford F-150 lightning has a ladder frame shassis so it will not be able to have a gear tunnel.
@@migueljardim8177 a body-on-frame chassis is the same thing as a ladder-frame chassis, no?
I had the privilege to drive along with one of the Rivian test drivers a while back. The acceleration and cornering is amazing on its own considering the weight. But what struck me the most were the offroad capabilities. This guy drove up a 30 degrees incline over rocks and mud without any issues. And then on the way down, which was 45 degrees, he stopped in the middle. Put the car in reverse and drove backwards up the hill. I have never seen anything like it.
Instant torque is a wonder.
I believe that having all the weight on the bottom is the EV advantage. You can stop on a steep incline and not have to worry about it flipping
This is what makes TFL (and all its channels) awesome! That acceleration reaction from David was incredible!!
Everytime I watch your Rivian videos it makes me want one even more.
Good on Rivian for getting you a vehicle to test. The fact that it is an employee’s truck shows the dedication everyone at the company has to seeing their company succeed.
Love how Case managed to avoid having to do any heavy lifting by holding the camera 😂
😂 I’m pretty sure Case can lift a log and Tommy at the same time. And David can lift a log, Case and Tommy at the same time. And he’s past his prime…
He did when unloading at the end.
Big fan of EV's in general. But I honestly have to say that after watching what's probably 100's of such EV reviews, your series of Rivian videos are probably the most informative and useful. When it comes to convincing non EV drivers of the merits of EV's, specs & not standard test drives are all very well, but putting them through their paces in real world conditions, greatly enhances the education of non EV drivers. Well done guys! 👌👍
I know TFL prides itself on being first, but providing in-depth real world analysis is so much more important. These reviews really help move the needle speaking from someone who has used your reviews to buy last four vehicles.
Rivian, TFL is your best real-world marketing campaign...period.
Tommy is becoming one if my favorite
Auto journalists. Been nice watching you grow Tommy keep up the great work.

I love that look on David's face. He 'mirin that Rivian after the exciting pull you just did.
I loved that farmer! His reaction to the speed of the truck was amazing. Probably how I would react 😂
David is one of the best regular guests they have, along with Toby.
This is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, I will probably only love it from the distance, I'm to poor to own one, but just knowing this beauty is real makes me happy. Hope you are here to stay RIVIAN 👍
Great review Tommy. Your partner there is very real, entertaining, practical and a gentlemen. Great truck as well. Love the pass through for carrying tools.
I love David! The Yak Ranch videos you guys do are some of my absolute favorites. I am thankful that Rivian (and Chad!) got you guys a truck to test! The R1T seems to be an EXCELLENT truck.
It would be nice on these videos to find out what the actual payload that they hauled was. That looked way over payload, and it didn't care, which is awesome! Impressive truck and great video
I think they got the payload figure wrong though, I read on the owners manual that the bed payload was just over 1700lbs. It was hugely impressive what it hauled though.
We tried, our scale was on the fritz. It was a LOT of wood tho. I do mean a LOT 🙈
@@TFLoffroad it looks like it! I was impressed for sure
Ive hauled enough logs to know that they exceeded the rivian payload before they got into it themselves
Around 19:00 they said it’s about 1500
I think you guys, unintentionally, just made the best commercial for Rivian.
Kudos to Chad and Rivian for making that happen. It’s exciting to see the real truck in action. Good video showing the wood cutting and strap management technique!
I love how David was hollering for you to slow down! It still amazes me that the average person is only just now getting to experience performance like this! 0-60 in 3 seconds has really only been experienced by hardcore (and probably fairly wealthy) auto enthusiasts until now! My Model Y (LR AWD) is hands down the fastest car I've ever driven! It still gets me every time I stomp on it! EDIT: I have some friends that have pretty quick cars (WRX STI and Mustang GT) with similar 0-60s and the instant torque still has them grinning from ear to ear! It's definitely a unique experience!
Why oh why is it that you motorvehicle Y T ers insist on focusing on the acceleration of vehicles.? ! Do you/they not know that to accelerate hard is to burn lots of charge/gas ? Why the emphasis on acceleration compared to chargetime length, power of pull, load carrying, longevity, etc.etc. ?
What is it about being able to 'blast' someone at the lights? Is that all it is; a macho oneupmanship?
@@linmal2242 Because Motersports? And showing performance comparisons to different makes and models is fun. Like what a stupid question 😒
The fastest car I've ever ride in was a VERY built Hawkeye STI which absolutely blew my mind. I can't imagine what some of these electric vehicles can do. I can't wait to ride in one.
You should ride in a big turbo car.. same feel, but with engine noises
@@FJB2020 Probably the fastest car I'd ever driven prior to my Model Y was a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 which is twin-turbo charged and coincidentally does 0-60 in the same time as my Y (4.8 seconds). I love the sound of an ICE vehicle (which sometimes I miss) but the feel is very unique in an EV.
Hey Tommy, you did a really great job with this truck. Go deep in the characteristics and the technology of the pick-up. Rivian has to be proud of what you're doing with their puppy. You really make me get in the ben wagon of the ev's!
This is the best Rivian video review I've seen, TFL is crushing it! Rivian, if you are reading this, all of those overhyped press events you did with other journalists were pointless, we just needed to see how it works in day to day use like this video.
Personally i only see a few small flaws with this truck, the biggest being the low power in the outlets for an EV. Really there is no reason it's so much weaker than the ford f150 which gives you 2KW on a gas engine, then 7-10 KW on the hybrid/lightning.
David is way awesome! Always great to see him on TFL!
Best Rivian R1T video on RUclips (so far). Well done, TFL!
YES YES YES!! This is why we wanted TFL to get an R1T!!
First off, come on Tommy. Did your dad not teach you how to use a ratchet strap?
2nd, this was an EXCELLENT piece of content. I’m planning to buy an R1T and this is the kind of stuff I need to know..
3rd, I love watching y’all driving around north Colorado. I’m always trying to figure our where y’all are filming.
BRING ON THE IKE Gauntlet!!
You know Roman tries, he even pushes Tommy uphill.
'Ratchet Strap' ? What the hell is that; have you not tied a load on using stout ropes with truckies knots? So much easier and simpler and more versitile !
Me too lol I've seen videos on trails that I've been on and I always wish I see them out filing when I'm on the trails lol
@yo yo What do you mean you can't use the bed? They just loaded it all the way up with logs for firewood!
I had to pause this video because, Tom, it's good to see you pushing logs into the back of the truck and struggling like a man. Alot tougher than driving a hellcat through 6 inches of water. Which you told your dad not to do. Lol
The problem with putting the tire underneath is that when your stuck in a muddy 4*4 trail it can be nearly impossible to get the tire from underneath where a lot of SUV/trucks put it. (ask me how I know) you cant put it on the back since it has a real tail gate. So really the only good option is under the bed but yea you gotta unload all your stuff if something goes wrong. Still better than digging in the mud and jacking up your truck just to drop a spare from underneath. Solid video guys
Right. This and the 2 other complaints made were pretty minor things in the grand scheme. If you get a flat and have to unload stuff, 98% of the time you’re only gonna have a few things in the back that won’t take long to unload.
Obviously in this case it’s annoying if you had to unload all the wood, but still better to have decent clearance with the air suspension and a tire in a tucked away spot in my opinion
I know exactly what you mean. But it wasent my tire but i screwed up my rim on a rock.stuck trying to get the spare out from under the mud in the cold and that day it was extremely windy. Lets say never did that again
Yeah that's why I keep a spare in my bed because even if there is space I doubt I can take off the spare underneath with all the mud and rust around the bolt 🙃🙃
Wow beta cringe in here....lol
@@TC-kf9zw 😂
nice to see Rivian in action, thanks Tommy & David. Especially Chad for loan out his brand new R1T!
Loved the entire thing! Pretty impressive only used 8% of energy. I guess the towing is the only drawback and price. Great job as usual guys! Thank you for this content.
Down hill with heavily loaded truck with regen braking will recoup most of the energy used climbing the hill with unladen truck.
@@borysnijinski331 This is the most important details, usually missed by ICE fanatics, ignoring regen in calculating range. What goes up, must come down.
Best truck review I've ever seen. Every truck TFL does should have these guys take it through this test.
I’ve been watching these guys for years. The content and production quality are top notch!
It's bloody awesome to see tests like these. Where bakkies are actually used... Properly!
Awesome work! Can't imagine being the guy that owns that truck watching you guys making it do work! Great job on the video and kudos to Rivian for letting you put their truck through the paces. My favorite TFL truck so far
I was thinking the same thing. I hope Chad (I think that was who they said the owner was) gets a discount for being a media vehicle.
He works for rivian. He’ll be ok
David is awesome! How great to have him on this episode 👏.
You probably shouldn't change a tire with a full load in the vehicle anyway. Jack isn't rated for that. Also, you don't want to load to shift.
That is a good point, but there are still circumstances where camping gear/plywood could still safely remain in the back while changing tires.
@@TFLoffroad you’ll need to unload part of it but a good plug kit and and air compressor can get anything but a shredded tire to a tire shop
Tell that to an 18 wheeler drivers and he’ll laugh at your face.
@@TFLoffroad Could Rivian consider an optional full spare option for frunk?
@@mattbrew11 I've had tires go from a simple nail hole that wouldn't make it another mile, let alone to a tire shop.
Great spending time with that there gentleman at his Yak Ranch, good content, and he's a hoot with a bunch of gems in his commentary!
The last 15 seconds or so of this video are just hilarious. “Tommy what did you do with the motor?” 🤣
Thank You Chad, for loaning The Fast Lane Truck, your pride and Joy. Great review.
Tommy, if you find the time...could you go into detail on Rivian's Suspension system? I know many engineers at Rivian came from McLaren and the R1T has a suspension similar to a McLaren 720S with air and a cross-linked hydraulic system. #2nd big ask would be for more in-depth of what makes up the "off-road" package? I don't think I've ever seen an R1T without the $2K off-road package, but many of us are questioning if we need it or not and what exactly (pieces-wise), are added to the underbody? Thanks, y'all are doing a fantastic job with the R1T!
I have been wondering if I really need that off-road package myself. The truck can still be had with the 34" all-terrain tires and with the up to 15" of ground clearance without it. My existing Toyota truck has done plenty of off-roading without any additional body armour underneath.
The $2000 off road package is simply the two front tow loops on the front and the underbody shielding. The 20" AT tires/wheels are a no charge option in place of the standard 21" all season tires/wheels.
@@cruiser97eric1 you don't need the offroad package, unless you face serious trails often.
They all come with off road mode just like they all go into sport mode
@@MrJnt19 off-road package, not “mode” is what we were discussing
Wow the suspension held up incredibly well on that load! Most small trucks I see with big loads like that have the tires rubbing the wheel wells lol!
It has air assist. If you put air assist on any smaller truck it would handle the same load just as well
No you dont. That load was lighter than you think and even the smallest trucks offered these days have 1500lb+ bed capacity. The trucks youre seeing are old, from the 80s or 90s, beat to shit work trucks
That farmer just seems like someone you’d wanna be friends with. Salt of the earth type a person.
Tommy do a cost of ownership analysis that may take a little sticker shock out of the equation. I spent $60-$100 a week in fuel when I was commuting. Over 6 years of ownership the gas and $75 oil changes might make a $70k sticker price more digestible compared to traditional less expensive alternatives.
Great show!
That's why EVs are so expensive. They are charging you up front for the savings, but the savings don't really show for 7-10yrs. Most Americans don't keep a vehicle that long, and only tesla has cars on the road that old. Battery replacement is alot more expensive than engine replacement.
What happens when your battery pack takes a dump in approximately 10years? I can change alot of oil for 25 grand. Also what's the life expectancy of the 4 motors? Not sure I'm sold just yet
@Chris C Solar Panels!!!!
@@jimmytedrow4146 I hear rumors of charging stations where you pull in swap batteries and then you are on your way
@@kylestyleracing that would be a game changer!
Excellent demo. R1T lived up to it well. Great way to protect the bed too!
Adventure can be a lot more than just trails cross country!
I have to say, there's a lot more to Rivian than I thought. Very impressive. I would take this over a top shelf GM or Ford truck. I feel bad for Chad though. You guys took the "new" out of it!
Hats off to the guy who loaned the truck. Brave guy.
"Why would you need any more than 15in..... I don't know, Merica!"
I laughed at that lol
I personally love the idea of the flap between the bed and the tailgate. I hate the big gap between the bed and tailgate on my F150 when I haul dirt/gravel/yard waste stuff.
I really love this truck I think you did a amazing job on truely testing the truck I really hope you guys keep doing more electric trucks like these because they are fully tested and done right
Thanks for the video, guys! I liked the Rivian so far and i really enjoy to see David. A lot of respect and admiration for this guy 🙏
Really excellent review Tommy and I really like the ranch owners it gives you more insight into what real use of a pick up truck.
The Rivian has been very impressive. I love TFLs content putting these new trucks to work.
I watch all the EV content creators, and your real world videos of the Rivian were the best I’ve seen!
This video answered any questions I had left about this truck.
I have been against electric trucks and suv's since day one, but this company has me believing in their product for an everyday pickup or suv. I would like to see a review of the SUV version R1S. Great review. Good to see you doing real world test and not just climbing rocks. Most will not do that.
GMC Hummer EV also has a long list of good specs.. these 2 are going to make the A 'murican trucks great again my favorite full electric pick-up trucks so far even tough (Cybertruck & Ford F150 lightning might be cheaper who knows when those will spun out) until then.. i still like Rivian or Hummer ev.. is not just the looks is the overall useful package for the money & do it all with one vehicle concept.. gotta love them, i would be happy with any of them both are great.. hat-off full respect for all people involved building them ! (*_* )
This series where you've been visiting Happy Yak Ranch and putting these trucks through the ringer has been INVALUABLE to a relatively new millennial farmer in the market for a new truck. Thank you for these! Would LOVE to see more! For instance, the "Will It Fit" for the Frontier was great but I really need to know if it can handle the farm/logging work I do. Thanks yall. Keep up the great work!
*How well it can handle. Not if. I'm sure it can if the Maverick could
I wish I had this truck when I was hauling logs myself! It would just be absolutely ideal here in the UK.
It has a 4.5 ft bed.....?.... no not for hauling anything except a dog maybe
@@willrector9716 except the UK doesn't have full size pickups like here in North America, all their midsized pickups have short beds
This is an amazing video. The thing I see with a lot of these Rivian videos is that they are always showing the HP, Acceleration, etc. But no one shows what the intended purpose of these trucks actually are. Well done with this video
We need more David content.
Great video and pretty impressive truck.
Great job TFL!! As someone who has trucks because I need them and work them hard. I have always appreciated the IKE towing tests for actual real world testing, but some of us do more hauling with our trucks than towing. That being said I always love when you guys go to David's ranch and a truck gets used as a truck and the bed gets loaded up and it gets used as a truck. Keep up the great work you guys!!!!
Suddenly, all the best Rivian videos are all coming from TFL. I loved this video and witnessing the R1T doing some serious work. Maybe I missed it but I would have been curious to get a weight on the truck when it was loaded with all that wood. I loved how the suspension handled it without squatting at all. Keep up the great work TFL!
David is such a cool guy! You guys should get him on more videos!
This has to be one of the best videos TFL has ever produced, well done guys!
Truly enjoyed this video. The comedic end scene was hilarious, it added some laughter to an informative video. Great job TFL!
It was one thing that could be useful on the Rivian that you didn't test, the onboard air. If you have a pneumatic grease gun and the Rivian, you would have an easy day lubeing a tractor or other farm equipment.
I forgot about that, when he mentioned the location of the spare tire being one of the things he didn't like, with a loaded bed. But with the on board air, maybe have a patch kit handy, and maybe you can patch the tire and pump it back up without having to get the spare. Which brings up another point, maybe in a later model, they might provide an access point to that air outside of the bed. Because even being able to patch the tire, you still might have to unload the bed a bit to access the air.
It depends on what cfm the compressor is. Air tools use a lot of air.
I think most guys use cordless electric grease guns now, in construction anyways.
Vids at David's Yak ranch are always a fun watch! Thanks for giving us your perspective, and for letting TFL hang out at the Yak ranch David👍
RIVIAN = Winner! 👍
I have a cyber truck on "order", however I am thoroughly impressed with what I have seen so far with Rivian. I am seriously thinking about tossing my Tesla hat and buying a Rivian! And Kudos to the person(s) at Rivian that was confident enough to allow TFL to have free reign with the truck. That alone speaks volumes about your truck and company! Great decision!
They said it was Chad that let them molest his truck.
Hands down, this is my favorite TFL video ever. Informative and entertaining. David and his real world ranch chores added a level of authenticity to the review that was much appreciated.
Tommy and David, this was great footage and testing of capabilities!
"A hundred gallon lectric tank" David is too funny. Nice video you 3, looks like you had fun and a work out to boot. Good thing Roman did not need to come and push it out. Be safe. Thanks Chad for letting them molest your truck.
You all did a great job with this review. Thank you for the time and effort in this!
A couple of points, Tommy said, that this Rivian is not really intended for work like picking up firewood etc. Then my question is, then what is a 'pick up' for?
The tailgate hinge wells,.. you're correct David, if debris gets down in those 'hinge pockets' what happens to the hinge mechanism if this pocket becomes full say snow and ice, for example
does the hinge just break? I've seen this very thing happen to a mid sized front end loader, when snow packed itself down around the lift cylinders, turned to ice, and busted off this cylinder / ram
like a carrot, when the loader bucket was raised. There was nowhere for the ice and snow to go.
You also also said that your foot was not on the brake at all when going down the hill, ( see at 17:45 ish ) yet the brake lights were illuminated, do the brake lights come on when regenerative braking is on?
P.S. Oh by the way, YES I think the R1T is a truck that I could sure get used to, and would like to own. Contrary to what some might think, I think, with a few modifications ( those hinge pockets ) this truck will be great for my type of daily driving and use. Thumbs up!
Love these sort of tests, I’d love to see the Honda Ridgeline tested in these conditions
As a guy who is very interested in the Ridgeline, I really want to know how much “truck” can I really get out of it. This would be an interesting test to gauge against other trucks.
The ridgeline????...lol what a joke!!!!....its not even a real truck and real men don't drive or buy crappy wanna be so called trucks

The old man was fun to watch and you clearly can tell that he is fully engaged in the video, great job! I still hate the old music.
Keep up the great videos Tommy! Love the coverage. TFL is the best automotive coverage out there! This Rivian really has me intrigued!
That tailgate hinge cover is outstanding when unloading mulch. Very nice... I would take that tailgate over my 2020 2500hd one.
Hard to admit but the rivian is very impressive!
Live in normal Illinois about 5 miles from rivian plant where r1t is made. Seeing them all over town very impressive truck!!
The hinge passage filling with gravel, dirt, sand is an annoyance for sure. The OG Cybertruck had a t channel floor which would be an even worse of a nightmare. Looks like it’s time to buy ShopVac stock cuz everyone will need an upgrade to clean their beds after use.
Thanks Chad!!! I hope that my tweet plea to Rivian to get TFL a review truck helped. Kudos Rivian. Good job Tommy and Dave.

16:20 where they're sliding sideways near the cliff face is what crab walk was made for. I wish more trucks implemented 4 wheel steering.
It's so interesting to me to see these guys going all electric tools. A lot of people I know are very against electric tools for some reason, so it's nice to see an actual farmer be all in on electric. The thought of just having your truck plugged in at night, with all your batteries in the bed being charged simultaneously is so futuristic to me lol.
Battery powered tools work really well if used everyday. Not so well if sitting on a shelf in one's garage for months at a time.
We changed to electric years ago.
Expenses went down. Performance went up. Plus the absence of noise, mixing gas and fumes is awesome
@@mattbrew11 yeah I don't get it. I do live in the south so things go a little slower here lol. I've already switched to all electric at home, my lawnmower and everything is all battery powered. I like it a lot. I can hold conversation with the wife while I mow the lawn, and I don't have to store gas cans any more.
Low-running tools (like drills, impacts, sawzalls) are great battery tools.
But I don't like battery tools for high-running tools (tools that rotate for long periods, and/or must overcome strong resistance) like circular saws, chainsaws, weedwackers, lawn mowers, vacuums, or snow blowers. Those things eat battery juice, and lose effectiveness quick, so I prefer corded or straight gas.
I love electric battry impacts, ratchets, lights, & bandsaws though. They last a good while during normal use.
I wasn't convinced about the looks of the Rivian when it first came out but it's growing on me.
Those real world tests are the best to give me an ideia of what's capable. Thanks TFL. I wonder if it support 35 MT tyres without any problems for the software to manage everything.
I believe so, those are actually 34” tires on 20” rims if you can believe it! 👌🏽🤷🏽♂️
Looks like there's room for 19inch rims with the right shaped barrel and no wheel weights attached near the calipers. I'm sure with the right offsets and widths you could do 35s easy.
@@joobaggs6886 19s are car wheels
@@joobaggs6886 yeah why 19” what you really what is a 17” wheel. But it wont fit.
@@Fparrish to get 17s to fit you'd need to swap to smaller brakes which aren't good for a 7k lb truck with over 800hp lol.
Great advert for Rivian! A proper test review, loved it! They have set the benchmark for sure. Great video.
A very elegant truck, it's starting at $67k and there's a one year wait time though. I'd be scared to get it dirty and scratched up in the beginning 🤠😜
Check around, pretty common to have to wait at least 8 months for a truck these days. Over a year for a 1 ton diesel.
I would bet you the cost of one if you order one today you won't take delivery in one year.
