- Juayua is one of the towns along the picturesque Ruta de las Flores in western El Salvador. We explored the town center, the church, and a couple of other interesting things to do in Juayua.
We hiked in the tropical forests to explore the Siete Cataratas or 7 waterfalls near La Majada, another smaller town close to Juayua. The trail made the hike exciting where we crossed gushing rivers, climbed steep trails holding on to tree roots, and of course, the waterfalls. We visited the first 3 and skipped the last 4, as we were not convinced about the trail that required climbing through the waterfall. Still, it was an exciting and fun hike.
Our guide Cristian also arranged for Sopa de Gallina, a traditional Salvadoran dish, for our lunch, at his home. It was a mix of home-cooked soup, chicken, and tortillas.
We hitchhiked on the back of a truck from La Majada to Juayua.
We came back to Juayua again, the next day for the Juayua Food Festival. It was a gastronomic fair with loads of exciting foods that included different kinds of meat, seafood, vegetarian dishes, drinks, cocktails, gourmet coffee, desserts, and more. It was a fun event where we could walk around from one food stall to another, watch the chefs cooking and find our dishes and beverages.

Hello Paradise Catchers ...!!! It's a pity that you can't climb the seven waterfalls , some tourist guide took a rope to help the tourist climb the all seven waterfalls through the water but anyway you enjoy the trip and that it's what it count , I was at Juayua food festival one time and it's was fantastic with the seafood and meat , beautiful couple enjoy my country ...saludos..
Hi Francis. Yes, that’s what we had expected, but on the day of our visit, we didn’t see any such option of ropes 😕. But you’re right, what’s important is that we enjoyed. And oh yes, the feria gastronómica was also awesome 😋
Every video it’s an adventure….I can’t wait to be there
So true! We had so many different experiences in El Salvador 🇸🇻. Hope you get to visit soon 😊
pretty nice
Thank you! 😊
Hey leave some food for the rest of us 😁 glad to see you having a good time, I had no idea you had to climb that waterfall in order to see the other ones, first time I hear about that one and quite frankly it sounds made up, I think you did the right thing skipping that one, til your next video
Haha thanks Eric 😃. To head to the other waterfalls, usually there are ropes/ rappels, but on the day of our visit, there weren’t any, and seemed like climbing was the only option. So we skipped because it’s important to listen to your instincts 😊. Working on the next video - coming soon!
Greta video!, do you mind sharing yogur tour guise info
Thank you. We did the 7 waterfalls hike with Cristian Pulunte. This is his contact number: +503 7729 9173. Enjoy! 😊
You did not go to the Main waterfall there
Hey, are you referring to the Chorros de la Calera? The entrance to that waterfall was closed at the time of our visit. We also confirmed this with 🇸🇻 police in Juayua.
