You mentioned a furminator, that is one tool you should never use for this breed as it will damage their undercoat as it cuts it and as you know they rely on their undercoat in the cold and hot weather as it helps keeps them cool in the hot weather and warm in colder weather. Avoid the furminator and tools like that that'll cut their undercoat.
Another way to make sure your Akita doesn't absorb shampoo into their fur when bathing is to dilute the shampoo with water, about a 50/50 mix. That's what I do with our 10 year old after being concerned that I wasn't getting all the soap off of him and it works like a charm😊😊
Would you recommend trimming a long coated Akita ? Also would you mind making a video on the temperament difference and stuff with a long coated Akita inu opposed to a regular one(Japanese not American)
How often do you recommend bathing an Akita? My bear starts to feel gross after a few weeks without a bath but some people say not to bathe them but a few times a year. He does not have any skin irritation as of right now from bathing him every 3-4weeks.
I agree to a certain degree about their cleanliness, my male is the epitome of the teenage boy. He will get B.O. just like one while my female is very cat-like in her hygiene and rarely is odorous.
Hi, I have some mixed responses from people regarding an Akita's shedding. I was wondering, when the Akita does not have its blowout season, do they still shed during the rest of the year or is it little to none?
Hi Will, what is the best way to prevent food and play aggression with a new akita puppy. With play aggression i mean possessiveness over a toy and al that kind of stuff. Im going to get a Akita puppy next year and i would like to prevent a lot of behavior problems and you made a lot of video already that are very helpful but i missed these subjects which are also very important.
Hi Priscilla, we have a video all about resource guarding on one of our other channels: ruclips.net/video/3gpDAxeNhJ0/видео.html I think you might find this helpful! We also answered some viewers questions on play aggression in a different video: ruclips.net/video/WBaCfGN3mLg/видео.html Let me know if these are any help in your preparation!
@@fenrirakitashow1658 Hi Joe or Will, Thanks for the links to the videos the were indeed helpful. I was actually kind of surprised about what you call food aggression in English dog behaviorism. Because in the Netherlands we have of course different names for this but i did not expect the name resource guarding but later when i thought about it, it made perfect sense. Sometimes i kind of wish for in example dog behaviorism that the names for behaviors would be a little bit the same and that the names would not be so different from one other even in another language. But we have to thank the language barrier for reason that is not happening.
This is a very generic video. With a title like “how to groom” I was hoping to actually see you groom the Akita, or at least show the tools and things you’re talking about! I have no clue what the couple of tools are you mentioned and you didn’t post any pics of them or show them. I’m sure you’re very knowledgeable with dogs and their grooming needs. Perhaps showing the bathing, blow drying, tools, etc. would be more beneficial to your viewers.

Hi haven’t seen y’all upload lately I pray everything is fine 😊
Where are these professional groomers you speak of because honestly I live in the north east of the UK and I'm being turned down left right centre
I have a white akita dog and I love her so much...
So majestic..
The furminator will also cut their guard hair! Never use a furminator on an Akita.
