Owned Akitas for three decades.. Excellent point. Exercise itself in my experience prevents the majority of unwanted behavior from ever surfacing.

??The majority of people work, including their spouses, therefore when you have a new puppy I would love to see/hear training tips for active people who are gone for 8 or 9 hours a day. I love love your videos, but what about those that don’t have the means to put their dogs in doggy day cares a few days a week, pay for someone to walk your dog several times a day as suggested. I know tons of people who have dogs and probably the wrong breed for their life style but it works. Please, no remarks that you simply shouldn’t own a dog. Thanks

My akita inu never had it either. I'd leave her alone for hours at a time and always monitored her via security cam with real-time speaker. So if she did something 🤔 I'd just speak to her via the speaker com. Now when I brought her out of state for the first time. I did see anxiety. In March of 2020 I went to my relatives and left her outside in the backyard . She pushed thru the door came up the basement steps and walked thru the shotgun to find me in the sunroom. Then when I went to visit my dad and stepmom. My step mom didn't want her in the house so I tied her up to a pole in front a wood fence with her lead(leash). Where i was and where she was we couldn't see each other. Not even a full 10 mins in the house and neighbor comes knocking holding the handle on her harness. She done bit through her leash. First time I'd ever witness her having anxiety away from me but it was MAJORLY CUTE!!!!!

I plan on getting an Akita some time in the (not foreseeable) future, so I'm kind of binge-watching most of the channel's videos so I can plan ahead. And I mean I won't be getting the puppy for at least three more years. But better be safe than sorry. I want to be well-informed about what I'm getting myself into.

Thank you! Exactly what we do. Work her out and give a Kong toy before we head out. Had some camera’s on a while back just to see how she behaves when we’re out. Ate her food from the Kong and went straight to sleep for 3 hours. One thing she did when we were gone was sleeping on our bed (not allowed). Since we close the bedroom doors that problem is solved. She is however always ‘overly happy’ when we come home. Like she goes bananas with licking and engaging in playful behaviour.

Thanks for the video! I was beginning to wonder if my Akita was having separation anxiety but I think he just needs a little more exercise in the morning. This was a really good video to help determine if your dog really has seperation anxiety.

Yeah, tried just what you're suggesting. My dogs will leave any good, yummy right where you put it if they think I'm leaving. You could put steak in front of them and they are more worried about me leaving than that steak!

I just adopted a female Akita. 3 years old. I would love videos on introducing them to cats. I have two cats. One is well into her senior years but she’s been well integrated with bigger dog breeds (German pointer and beagle) but I would love to hear your perspective on how to introduce them.

She was socialized with adult felines 🐈 due to my gay dad being a cat lover. And so im thankful for that. She still has the prey drive of a undomestixated canine but its rarely to chase cats. They are so freaking quiet. One time walking in my apartment complex(camp) we snuck up on a unsuspecting cat and the way the cat reacted when it realized JUST how close we had gotten to it without hearing 🙉🙉 was like oh shit. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I got a 12 month old akita (male) and got a fox terrier she is (13 years) currently she is on heat i have separated the two and now my akita has been all depressed dosen't want to eat he's food has been about 3 days and also howls at night, any advice only reason for separating the two is that he has gotten really aggressive towards her since she has been on heat. would they get back to normal once her heat passes?

Have a look into long line leads, this can give her some freedom but you still have her on the lead. Also check out our videos on dog aggression over on our distaste training channel, Fenrir Canine Training: ruclips.net/channel/UC6z0E8nSfCvelwA3bon_phg

Have you any idea of how needlessly repetitive this video is? The first five minutes, in particular ("REAL separation anxiety" versus "obnoxious learned behavior"), pass without any real advice from you. Please, in future write a script and keep to it. I almost shut you off several times.

Okay so look I have a Akita. All he does is sleep sleep sleep doesn’t wanna walk when I do walk him he gets tired and wants to go back him he is 6 months 90 pounds but he’s very protective and does not like strangers but loves kids and Loves who ever is apart of the family also it’s so crazy because when you realize how smart these dogs are you’re going to be surprised for example. If he sees me sitting on a chair. He will want to sit on the same chair the same way I sit he will sleep how you sleep (side/stomach) and so many things. This is insane and I hope my dog stays calm like this. Yes he’s only 6 months but he really isn’t bad after All WAY WAY BETTER then the damn stupid husky I had. Smh never again if anyone has any answers to why my Akita is so damn calm please let me know he’s just the calmest dog you will see

I think you just got one that likes to chill. My first Akita was like that somewhat. My new one is a little more mischievous. He loves to be outside and go on hikes. It's funny how they all have very different personalities.

    • @phetmoz
      @phetmoz 4 года назад +1

My Akita is very paradoxical in this regard.
He's never, ever been destructive inside the house and he's super calm unless there is something suspicious happening outside, then he'll alert me until I come and check it out.
Once we're out on a walk though, he's extremely enthusiastic, curious, mischievous, spontaneous, alive. Also hugely dominant and suspicious.
I think it's super important to drain your Akita of his energy because he'll put that energy somewhere, it doesn't go away. For Akitas, frustration due to lack of energy drain, translates IMMEDIATELY into aggression and an overall scattered mind.

@@alimansour9122 As long as they have a good shelter and a place to keep warm they should be alright. My first Akita started out being an indoor dog but he perfered to stay outside especially in the winter. They love the snow! I built him a big dog house with blankets but he would spend most of his time sitting in the snow. If he wanted in the house I'd bring him in. My new Akita was born this past March so he really hasn't seen much of winter yet. I'm excited to see what he does. I'm sure he's going to love the snow too. I live in northern Indiana the climate is similar. Although you guys get a lot more snow than we do sometimes. I think your Akita will do well in the snow. My new Akira is a lot more social and loves to be with us in the house with his family so I don't think he will want to stay outside as much.

@@joefugate7014 my akita was born April so yes around the same time. He has his own big wooden house and his house is in the garage it’s a nice area but it does get cold for me I guess I just sometimes get worried because he can’t be inside he gets really curious and starts destroying everything even though he’s the nicest gentle dog best dog breed by a long run.... in the summer he does have his own window Ac. But this is the first winter and i did get him a heated blanket but it does stay in the single digit weather from 1 to 6 degrees should I be worried?
