In this video I show how to install steel driveshafts on the Traxxas Maxx. It's the same process for the V2 as it is for the V1.

I've been bashing for years and thought I knew it all, until you showed me the grub screw inside the axle. No wonder I had trouble changing bearings.! 👍
Thank you so much! I couldn’t figure out where the tiny set screws went and how those pins were supposed to stay in on the 8654 spindles. Huge help!
As a lifelong mechanic, I love how Traxxas thinks about ease of maintenance and repairs. Its impressive that it only takes a few minutes, one nut and two screws to replace an outdrive. I'm loving the Maxx with those Fling Kings! I have a set of the Renegades on my LMT, I'm def going to buy a Maxx just to run them on it.
As a random dude i think its absolutely stupid that they charged 600 dollars for this truck and put plastic driveshafts. Metal should have been included total idiotism.
They gotta get that upgrade cash. Lol
I put those high velocity drive axles on, I got the widemaxx kit, so had to get the ones to fit, what a difference definitely RECOMMENDED these ! Seemed to be more " raw" with power, you will see what I mean!
I love you channel so much info new to the hobby learned so much from you thanks keep them videos coming appreciate you bro
Thanks!
Muito explicativo o vídeo parabéns 👏👏
big help, thank you!!
Nice drive shafts and install
Olá, amigo gostei do seu vídeo o mais pratico que achei para tricar os eixos dianteiro, o traseiro que não achei ainda como trocar?
Se inscrevi no canal 🇧🇷
The only socket Ive found that fits in the JConcepts Agressor wheels is a Snap On socket. You could also grind down the outside of a cheap socket.
I wondered what those grub screws were when I installed my axles in the maxx v2. I’ve been bashing the snot out of my maxx and changed wheels several times till last night and I put some buggy wheels on it and one came off on a 60mph speed run. Haha will the regular grub screws work? I have some from old pinions
I'm about to do this this weekend- that'll make two weekends in a row with projects helped by your videos, so thanks! One question, why does the outer bearing you showed look so jacked up? Is that a mangled washer or does it just look weird in the video?
That was something that wrapped around the axle. Like a vine or something. I'm happy that my videos have helped you out. You are going to love your Maxx!
@@outsourcedrc the other video that helped was the 45 degree ramp build, so you KNOW I'm loving it now haha
I have 0 Issues with the original Widemaxx Plastic Shafts. They survived even 6S Abuse + E-Revo 2.0 Tires. I broke 2 in 1 Year with crashes. First Run Sledge Yesterday 1, Steelshaft broken.
Grain down the end of the socket it works
I actually left the original inside bearings (bigger of the 2) on accident, so there's actually 3 at each corner now. Didn't seem to hurt anything but wasn't Intentional either. Also my set screws wouldn't reach the pin in the hex so the wheels are the only thing keeping them in.
Do you think leaving in those bearings prevented you from tightening down those screws?
@@outsourcedrc I hadn't considered that, very possible!
hello bro i need help, how do i set the brakes on the traxxas rustler vxl 4x4 remote.?
I am not sure what you mean. They should be set out of the box. Maybe do a factory reset on the transmitter?
The cups of the hubs are too long and strain the differential bumps with maximum suspension travel. I recommend shortening them by 2mm on a lathe
Can you explain this?
This is the easiest way to replace the driveshaft.
