  • Edgar Degas: A collection of 658 paintings (HD)
Description: "A man of many talents, Edgar Degas was a famous French Impressionist painter who depicted the Parisian life in beautiful images. Edgar had a fascination for human figures and many of his paintings featured dancers in unusual positions. During his course at École des Beaux-Arts, which was a popular art school in France, he spent three years travelling in Italy where he studied and copied the arts of Da Vinci and Michelangelo. After he returned to Paris, he started making portraits; however his innovation with techniques did not go well with Salon, a group of powerful artists who presided over art exhibitions. In the next few years, Edgar was part of a group of avant-garde artists who dwelled on how painters could take a modern approach to art. With the outbreak of Franco-Prussian War, Edgar enrolled as a National Guard. But, he escaped much of the bloodbath that followed for the establishment of the Third Republic by travelling to New Orleans. After he returned to Paris, Edgar along with his fellow avant-garde artists formed the Society of Independent Artists, a group which aimed to exhibit their art without the control of Salon. This group came to be known as ‘Impressionists’ for their style of art, although Degas himself was more comfortable with the term ‘Realist’ or Independent’."

As a ballerina in the paris opera, I have a deep love for Degas work and have a print framed and hanging on my wall. Although ballet has progressed immensely since his time of paintings, the fact that an artist took the interest and talent to paint the the ballerinas touches my heart. I look at his print of his artwork with great admiration and appreciation hanging on my wall. The wide range of his work is so remarkable as well. This artist has a special place in my heart.❤Degas 8:20

Degas and Singer Sargent.....I absolutely love their work. If I never see another artist work ever again. Those two would undoubtedly sustain me for life.

With the impressionists we achieve the top of art Just like in the renaissance which means eventhough they changed the rules of the academic style . The Academic painting would be with certain rules and an Evolution of tecnique in geometrical style use of colors and detsils with perfdction in Michelangelo and Raphael painting. All changed not only the painting in the open air BUt rules and tecnique lesving more Freedom to painters in subjectd of their every day Life in Paris. And Then again the perfdction through s group of artists unknown BUt full of ideas and Energy to invent and pursuit s new style. So again the perfection which Is achieved tecnichally and emotionally . Impossible to Paint Better and to be so prolific and peefect. Top of the art.
