Ms. Hanson Once again you have provided an educational and in depth presentation. Your hard work and willingness to share your extensive knowledge is most appreciated. Thank you
Degas in his days already latched onto "digitizing" images for editing & experimentation, he would have loved photoshop for color variation, spatial placement, copy-and-paste, rotation, texture modification, etc. Nonetheless, without imagination & creativity, photoshop is still only just a tool. Degas's pastel paintings are out of this world, timeless, that's why he's a master. Thank you so much for this lecture, I have learned a great deal about Degas and his less known landscape.
Why do curators insist that pastels are sensitive to light? They are not, in fact they are hardier than most mediums. If anything, it is the paper they are on that is affected by the light. They need to make that distinction.
Are you afraid to say “spiritual”? It’s not just a material object; he’s trying to portray the spiritual aspect perhaps not painting mouth nose lips etc. Just a thought, good video cheers

They really promote the idea of art as therapy, as moral uplift, as the work of geniuses. All three might be true, but not as true as they promote it.

This lecture is execrable.
Her insistent use of vocal fry makes one feel a sense of boredom with the subject.
Quite an irritating fake voice
She’s the best lecturer at the museum. And she’s a diiiiiiime. You leave art history baddie alone.
