I am deeply moved and impressed by this documentary on Newari people and their identity. I strongly feel that all the educated Newaris outside and inside Nepal become aware of their dying cultural heritage, and so they must pull together all their intellectual and material resources to help revive the identity and heritage. I love Newars.

The Newari language should be recognized as a classical language of Nepal. It has its own script , rich heritage and old literature. In India also Tamil, Telegu,Oridya,Kannada, Malayalam, Sanskrit languages are considered as classical language. In addition to the Bengali language, the Bengali speakers are also seeking the classical status of their language in India. In Europe also Latin,Greek are considered as classical language. These languages literatural tradition is old and are not borrowed from other languages . In Nepal ,Newari language has followed all the creteria to be considered as classical language. It is important for Newaris to stand up for their language to be classified as classical language.

The Jyapu community is the most active among the Newars of Kathmandu valley. From farming to pottery and from playing music to taking part in festivals, their activities are invaluable to Newar culture. From farming to pottery and from playing music to taking part in festivals, their activities are invaluable to Newar culture
Jyapu literally means "competent worker" in the Newari language and is numerically the largest group of the Newar community.
Some of the prominent Jyapus are Maharjan, Dangol, Awale, Suwal, Duwal, Singh, Prajapati, etc.
They have provided significant contributions to Nepali society and have been seen as the backbone of the Newar community.
Today Jyapus are known to be the descendants of the Kirat dynasty, the first settlers, and rulers of the Kathmandu Valley.
When the Kirat dynasty came to end at the hands of the Licchavis, the majority of Kiratis left the Kathmandu valley and resettled elsewhere. Those Kiratis who were left behind or opted to stay behind became part of what is known as Newar today.

Newars community was formed by assimilation different races and linguistic groups. Kathmandu Valley is a civilization & no civilization can be formed without assimilation of various Tribesmen in the beginning.

Due to cultural and political influence, newar people language and culture are shadowed by state dominant people culture. We need to form group and discuss plan and action to revive our language. We cannot go back to old ways but we can go forward with the flow of time. We have to define ourselves in a new way and move forward, also remembering our history. We can change our citizenship but we cannot change our identity. Nepal mandal is birthplace and soul of newa people. We should start raising awareness. #JayMaaBhya
