Great video, getting to the lookout has been one of my bucket list trips since I moved to NC. One thing I learned from your video is I didn’t know you could have a fire on the beach. Makes things better when I go during the off-season. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for the comment! Yeah I think the rule is the fire has to be close to the water and can’t be up on the sand where the vehicles drive. It’s an awesome place and we’re planning to get back there again. Thanks for watching 😄👍🏽
Really well put together video; currently getting logistics together to ride my fat tire bike on the beach or as close to it as possible the entirety of the North Carolina coast
Hi, Loved your video! You should try Ocracoke Island. The ferry is free from Hatteras. You should plan to stay a few days and experience the island if you go. Great restaurants and shops in town and they even have a brewery if you are into it. The national park campground sits right over the dunes and is only 2-3 miles from town. We love it there. The beaches down there are so much better than up here. Thanks for sharing your Lookout adventure!
@wgibson86 I typically camp at state parks. I don't have a vehicle that can take me directly on the sand. Hopefully, soon, I'll be able to do that one day.
You guys seem like an awesome family making some amazing memories. I live in North Carolina and have never visited this island myself, but after watching your video this morning, I'm making plans now. A month ago we purchased an overlanding trailer, and that location looks perfect for the type of getaway I want my kids to experience. The flies at the beginning of your video concern me though. Do you have recommendations about where to stay to avoid the flies?
Thank you! Yeah the flies are bad but I found that close to the water they stay away. At the south end of the island there is plenty of camping space near the shore and it was much more pleasant. Also the fires have to be built on the shoreline close to the water so it works out best there. Hope you enjoy your trip and thanks for watching ours😄👍🏽
Very nice video man, we love cape lookout. We've camped on the north and south side of the island and have found that there are far less bugs on the south, even by the dunes, BTW I would have totally eaten that bread. Thanks for the video.
I was hoping that bread was going to work out because I would love to try that!. Great video! We have a home nearby but don't live there yet but camping on the beach is definitely on my list of things I want to do. I have watched some other videos and a lot of them have a huge amount of money spent on equipment etc. I am looking to do this comfortably yet simple and not have to take out a mortgage for camping gear. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks! Yeah it’s a great experience camping on the beach out there. We saw a variety of camping setups so definitely it can be done on the cheap. Enjoy!
Thanks for sharing. We are looking at a trip out there toward the end of spring. What time frame did you all go? Apologies if you said what time of year and I missed it.
Awesome, should be a lot of fun. We went on May 1st and got lucky with some really great weather. The bugs weren’t that bad yet either. Have a great trip!
Awesome trip guys! I have always wanted to do that but just haven’t made the time. What time of year was this? High summer? Gotta say though I was waiting for the fishing rods to come out but they never did, oh well not your thing I guess.
Thanks! We went the first weekend in May. The locals said that was the perfect yime since the bugs get pretty aggressive in the summer. Yeah it’s definitely a fishing mecca but you’re right it just isn’t our thing. Great tome either way😄
Had my wife almost convinced to take this trip and then you mentioned nobody having to get up to pee. My wife’s wheels immediately started turning and wanted to know where do you go to the bathroom. I’m a woodsy camper and understand the burying the TP in the woods how exactly is a persons business handled on the island ?
Lol! I didn't even think to mention that. My wife and daughter used the privacy tent and folding camping toilet with a disposable bag for #1 and I just used the side of the tire or went in the water. The bag has a powder in it that absorbs the liquid and then you just toss it in the trash. There are trash dumpsters at the entrance and at the lighthouse. For #2 there are public bathrooms at the entrance of the island and next to the lighthouse at the south tip of the island where we stayed. Hope that's not a deal breaker for her😁
finally a video with some info on the trip/cost etc. Not just a camping trip video.
Glad it was helpful 😄👍🏽
Thank you for the great information! We have made our reservation for this Labor Day!
Sure no problem. It should be a a great adventure. Enjoy!😄

Great video, loved it. The ash bread looked pretty ashy to me! I actually never heard of that before or it's process, pretty cool.
Thanks! Yeah the bread got a little too done but surprisingly it was still tasty. 😄
Awesome video
Thanks!

Great video man! Thanks, I’m planning a trip now.
Great Video, we are doing similar experiences with our H2 on Long Island N.Y.!
Thanks! Wow I didn’t know you could do off roading out that way. We live in Philly so we’ll have to make it up there. Where are some good spots?
Prepping now for going to CLNS later this month. Very helpful video! Thanks!
Awesome thanks! Have a great trip 😄👍🏽
this is really well done
Wow thanks!😄

When you get the permit to drive on beach, there is a list of prohibitions that include flying drone on the same screen.
Thanks for the tip

Great video, thanks for sharing. Glad you addressed the bugs, that was a question I had. What month were y’all there?
Thanks! We were there the first week of May so it was really nice conditions overall.
Yes sir, looked fantastic. Thank you
How difficult was it to get a permit to fly your drone there?

Came for the trip. Stayed for the Melba toast, 😂 nice vid. What time of the year did you guys go?
Thanks 😂😂
We went the first week of May when the weather was perfect. We were told the bugs get intense in the summer.
Had my wife almost convinced to take this trip and then you mentioned nobody having to get up to pee. My wife’s wheels immediately started turning and wanted to know where do you go to the bathroom. Just bite the bullet and get the porta potty for them. I fought it forever, but there trouble free and odor free with chemicals.
What time of year was this?
It was the first week of May and we got lucky with great weather 😄
