So, most of the official costumes have been so-so to pretty decent, and then Cream shows up and she's flippin' adorable, and yeah, surprisingly well-made! Shame she only made the one appearance.
Ah yeah, I remember those Olympics TV ads... I always wondered why the Sonic costume was so awkward-looking when the Mario costume was significantly better. "Oh mama mia, you make-a me koo-koo crazy, Sonic!"

Only halfway in but felt like id comment xD
The first tails needs the fur brushed. Like holy heck that looks ratty. Also what's funny is these heads may or may not be attached to helmets. Just from how they'll be big enough to sit on the shoulders. It's really odd.
Also with the stiffness of some. The thing is. That's most likely foam that's been shaped. So it doesn't provide much mobility. And whatever mascot companies made whichever. I'm certain it's either foam core or a hoop system.
Also with the sonics with the uhh. Gaping mouths. Thing is. Performers inside need to breathe. Yeah it looks really dumb sometimes. But this looks like they commissioned a ton of dirt cheap costumes. And they're all made from the same patterns. As for the hands in the mouth. My guess is that they didn't put any mesh into the mouth to hide the person inside. Or they didn't put any mesh at all. But I'm 1000000% sure that is why they're doing that. Because it's easier to do that then to reshoot if someone's face was noticed.
Also wanted to add. The foam and faux fur falls apart over the years. So there's a chance most of these are unwearable now. Hoping that sega has these stored properly as well. Because if they're just throw around, they'll warp and damage even more. Plus they weren't cheap so I'd assume they're kept somewhere safe. And I'm certain patterns have been tossed... But maybe we'll have even better costumes to come!

@@Hayjabugga it wouldn't. Since the nose is basically a solid foam piece :c hence why mouths have holes in them. Companies use mesh then paint over it c:

For the 30th Aniversery SEGA should bring back the first US Classic Sonic and the E3 Modern Sonic
They should also bring back the western Sonic mascot Sega used for visiting cancer hospitals called "Chemo-sabi" Sonic. He has a cool western 10 gallon hat and gun holster.

Ah, Sega Republic. I miss that place so much. I legit have a framed photo of me and the Sonic Mascot costume that sits right next to my desk. Makes me happy that I live in Dubai but also sad that it got replaced by some shitty VR place.

I love to see one of the official mascots for real. I got to meet an official Mario mascot at a con in Belgium which Charles Martinet (Mario's voice) was attending, and that was pretty cool. So, to meet an official Sonic mascot would be great as well.

I remember seeing this video when it was unblurred. It's definitely a Great video covering the Sonic costumes. Didn't think it could get blurred out though from insurance, but still does have great audio coverage with the found footage. Also did like "It Comes From The Green Hill Zone" for that one Sonic costume.

I actually went to Sega Republic when I was younger during summer break!!! I was lucky enough to take a photo with Sonic!! I had no idea Amy and Tails ones were available!! It’s a shame that the Sega Republic got re-themed, RIP Sega Republic (2009-2017)

Thanks for featuring the 2016 video, long story short 2017 was when E3 opened for public for the 1st and after seeing sonic the hedgehog in action, I had to get pictures and videos of the mascot during E3 2017. Also have seen it in action during Sonic 25th Anniversary party. Also ive been up close in person with japan one because that one was used at Gameworks. But I could go on but after seeing this video, had to share some info and experience od seeing the suits in action.
I was really pleased to find your video. It's very hard to find good quality video like it because quite often people tend to jiggle the camera or zoom in on whoever is with Sonic or the statue or whatever they're standing with.
You were quite lucky to capture the mascot actually entertaining. A lot of video like this just don't bother.
Which is a shame because a lot of E3 and gaming convention media just gets lost because nobody bothers to film it.
@@BadnikMechanic thank you, another reason why some don't record video is they can be greeted by disclaimer signs on pictures or videos. Bur before e3 I did message them about videos ans pictures. Ended up getting the go right ahead and have fun. Also aside from dream was to attend E3, but another was to see the official Sonic the hedgehog mascot in action. So it was a moment I wouldn't forget.
Yeah what I mean is.
Normally the stuff they're trying to sell, so games, toys etc (depending on the convention) has a 'no no no please don't film' sign.
But stuff like the outside of the booth, or big displays, mascots, they're ok with. Just people either don't realise or assume no filming means utterly everything.
Which is why a lot of the time when people do film the 'cool stuff' it's kinda poor.
@@BadnikMechanic Overalls amazing video. I will also share was able to track down a few of the suit makers, like 92 us one and seen in a movie was made by 1800 Mascots. The one used in Sonic and Mario might have been made by kcl productons because they made the nintendo ones for the nintendo commercials. The inflatable one which was seen in japan and used for us too was made by costume specialists.
The Boom Sonic Costumes and the most recent modern ones, I'm pretty sure they were made by Rainbow Costumes.
Or at the very least all the performers are from Rainbow.
I used to be scared of meet & greets with mascots as a kid, now I LOVE meet & greets! I wish I could’ve been alive during the early 2000’s convention. I would’ve LOVED to take a pic with the gang and especially Cream
I really love both the Tails and Amy Boom costumes, I really hope in the future Sega reuses them by modifiying them into they’re ordinary Modern Designs

I can proudly say that I have officially worn a Sega made Sonic outfit in the 90's here in Sydney, Australia. It was hot as hell. It was stiff and restricted which made movement very difficult. LOL They later replaced it with a softer material rather than the hardened plastic stomach on the original one. It even had an internal fan!

Yeah this can happen. Often some cast get their shoes and gloves mixed up.
But if you look again at that photo. There's a few more problems with it.
1: Sonic has Tails' Tails.
2: Tails has another pair of hands under his armpits.
3: Someone has deleted part of Tails nose.
4: Someone has deleted part of the background above Tails head.
