hey just so you know the lemmings are from the second game called lemmings 2 the tribes and its the clown and highlander (cause it was made in dundee in scotland) tribes that I can see in the footage and also there is a lemmings statue in dundee that I got a photo of when I was up in dundee this year

The reason you can see the performers head in the US crash costume is for comical effect because of the ads being comedy based.

It is a rather absurd event that was caused by a patron, and then blow out of proportion by the family.
It is quite the rabbit hole, but i recommend looking for clips or articles on the subject, it is quite amusing in a morbid way.😅
@@ErectedGasCan Thanks. That video is quite interesting. A lot of the comments theorise that the kid had tried to unzip Tigger. I probably wouldn't be too happy if I was a mascot and somebody tried to take my head off or unzip me.
@@nicholasgawler-collins5754 Me neighter! And some article i read stated that the mascot suit was pulled in such a way that the person inside felt as being strangled, anyone would react a bit erratically when denied brething.😅

One thing I found about looking at mascot costumes was that the more generic ones, like a monkey or dinosaur, especially the cheaper ones, are seen more so as people wearing costumes, but the ones with a real identity, like Sonic the Hedgehog, are seen as the character, not as a costume.
When you couldnt figure out who chun li was dhe was the first costume i noticed and i was like oh chunli no ryu
I was actually kinda surprised to learn that the likes of Olaf and Bad Mr. Frosty had mascot costumes at any point.
And yes, I would like to see you cover the KCL Productions mascot costumes in a future video.

It probably would have been too dangerous and a bad idea in the long run but purely for authenticity's sake, since the SEGA World Sydney Sonic's Costume seems like he doesn't need a handler (or at least to the extend of Sally), I think HE should have hold Sally's hand to "keep the illusion". I mean, As a kid, I would have wonder who is this random guy holding Sally's hand? Sure she's a princess and has subjects but I don't know, since they were an item at the time, Sonic holding her hand would have seemed more natural and also rather adorable but I understand it might have cause safety issues.

It's weird how you talked about PaRappa, which is my favorite character ever, but it's interesting how cute and adorable the costume is.
The (non-mascot) cast of that episode of Bad Influence seem to be totally ignoring the mascots. I can feel that they're beginning to feel a bit put-off by the mascots' unblinking stare looming over them.

Those Lemmings that appeared in the christmas special, their appearance is based on Lemmings 2:The Tribes, One of which is clearly of the Circus tribe style.

The description of the Bonk mascot performance reminds me of this convention I went to when Funimation was pushing their odd adult gag dub of Crayon Shin-Chan. They actually flew in a mascot costume of Shin from Japan and had the actor inside run around the halls and give away cardboard Shin-Chan masks. He "signed" mine. And yes, the mascot costume was made so it could pull down its pants and expose its fake butt because Shin-Chan.
Also, it should be known that the American Crash mascot commercials were actually popular enough that they actually spawned two ripoff ad campaigns. One for Kellogg's, which featured Eet and Ern, which actually were kinda fun and had a certain charm to them considering they were copies. Then there was one for the Milk Council where they had someone in a milk carton suit with an exposed face, like Crash's. Only those were PAINFULLY unfunny, and it was just as painfully obvious they were trying to be the Crash commercials.

Revealing the actor's face in those old ads was because they were going for "Tongue-in-Cheek" -approach to advertising around that time. It was considered the "cool" -way.

I would like to see a history of Mario mascot costumes as well as a follow up to the Sonic one. Also, I noticed there was a mascot costume of Bubsy in some of the footage you showed. Why didn't you talk about him?

Oh, I must have been a brief mention as I missed it.
The Japanese costume is really cool for being so accurate to the character's design, but I'll always have a soft spot for the US one. Something about the performer's face being exposed with it really captures the chaotic nature of the character, and it makes for fun interactions at expos from what I've seen.
Hey there's another video game mascot costume that was used before the character's name is klonoa from a very underrated series of the same name created by namco and if I remember correctly there was a costume of klonoa used at Tokyo game show 1997 and another one at Tokyo game shows 2001-2002 but it used another design
ya know you should do a retrospective on the japanese crash bandicoot commercials......there are so many of them it would make for a nice meaty video and it would be hilarious to hear your descriptions of them and opinions on them

PaRappa the Rapper is a very good mascot costume.
I would definitely want to see a video about Sony costumes. From those I know, over the decades, there were official promotional costumes for Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, Kratos (God of War), Lara Croft (Tomb Raider), Journey, Fat Princess, Helghast (Killzone), Aloy (Horizon Zero Dawn), Nariko (Heavenly Sword), PaRappa the Rapper, Clicker (The Last of Us), Kat (Gravity Rush), Sackboy (Little Big Planet), Sir Daniel (MediEvil), Ape Escape, Sweet Tooth (Twisted Metal), Puppeteer, Knack, Diggs Nightcrawler, Tearaway, Androids (Detroit: Become Human), Zombies (Days Gone), and most recently, Spider-Man (2018), Ghost of Tsushima, and Concrete Genie. Otherwise I also know there were costumes from Last Of US and Infamous made for commercials. Those are all the ones I’m aware of, who knows what else there’s been over the years

I really like version of Bad Mr. Frosty in ClayFighters 63 1/2. I really love the characters in that game.
Both the American and Japanese Crash costumes were memorable, they even brought back the American costume for CTR nitro fueled

Why didn’t you mention that Samus costume during the Bad Influence segment of the video? I know you can’t see her that much, but it’s still really cool they made a Samus costume, despite how dark and creepy the series is.

Badnik Mechanic @ 8:22 you can see her behind Sonic and Tails. And @ 10:55 behind Bubsy and the Lemming. It’s understandable that you didn’t see her, because she’s always obscured by the others. She was most likely there to promote Super Metroid which would come out three months after the Bad Influence episode aired.
