☢WARNING! This video is NOT for the technically faint of heart! It's super technical!!☢
You can buy my SNES modules, here:
    ►8Megabitz: voultar.com/in...
    ►Super Stacker: voultar.com/in...
You guys are ALWAYS asking me about programmers. Here's the unit that I use primarily for EVERYTHING. From old, UVPROMs all the way to "fixing" PS3's by reading their NAND/NOR memories.. I have a special kit put together that's incredibly affordable! Of course, it supports all of my cartridge mods! You'll be hard-pressed to beat this for the price. Check it out:
I use the INL Retro Dumper to dump all my games:
♰ I don't condone piracy! As you'll see, I am dumping the games that I legally own! ♰
    Okay, let's get started...
In this installment, I showcase two products that I've designed that ease the process of creating SNES "repro" carts that rely on original hardware. My methods greatly differ from what's commonly done in practice. No cartridge rewiring, no desoldering MASKROMs, and the modifications are 100% reversible and do NOT destroy an original game.

Daamn this is amazing and a lot easier than replacing maskroms or building a repro from scratch by using one on those new PCBs, but for someone like me who only owns a few SFC games and want them translated is not cost effective :/ the dumper, then the programmer, then soldering the small flashrom chip is much complicated... if only someone would sell the prebuilt PCBs already flashed and soldered so i just have to solder the PCBs to the original maskrom it would be PERFECT.

Your solution Voultar is very elegant. I personally wouldn't clip that OE pin and go the route you mentioned: to desolder it. But that's probably just a matter of taste...
Question: That second small 16 pin TSSOP is a demultiplexer right? I mean it has to be one...i'm just not super sure.

Hey Voultar! I have a question for you, if you can answer it to me, of course:
I have a SNES PCB model EA-1A3M-30, which their original MASKROM is FIFA 98. Since nobody cares from such a crappy game, and I already repurposed their shell do you think that it could be used to make a repro?
I was thinking in Final Fantasy IV (japanese translated). It's very similar to one of the revisions, the SVHC-1A3M-10 who FFIV uses. It has 64kb of SRAM, a MAD-1 decoder, a CIC D413B (PAL of course) a CR2032 and the 36 pin maskrom.
    It could be?
    Keep going! Cheers!

My problem with using flash memory is that data won't be retained indefinitely, unlike on a masked ROM or PROM.
I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to soldering. Can your technique be applied to PROMs and are there PROMs that match the required specs? If so, is there a PROM programmer you'd recommend?

So could this dumper be used to rewrite Chinese bootleg cartridges like turning a copy of Pokemon Cock edition into Pokemon Yellow for example?

Man, I hate how I'm not very familiar or savvy with this sort of work. On one hand, I now want my FF IV and V cartridges converted (and yes, I still need and want to get VI, but I'll worry about that later). But, on the other hand, anymore I don't even necessarily care about playing the original hardware of these older games; I can't afford, to mod an SNES console (if mine is even right to be able to be modded), and what I would prefer to do, I also can not afford an Analogue Super NT..... I've been working with two different things for emulating - raspberry pie, and modding a second SNES classic edition that I acquired - and things have been working great for me in the last few years. Now, I do have a big-ass TV/projector display thing, that supports a lot of video connections (coaxial, composite, s-video, component, hdmi), but where that beastly thing lives, is an undesirable location of my home, and anymore I don't have any other display methods for the older consoles :(
Anyway, I love watching this stuff, and it definitely makes me wish any of this was feasible for my needs or interests.

No mistakes.....just happy accidents..... how about that? You see that solder bridge hiding there? He's a happy bridge.... we will just add a little TITANIUM FLUX here.....move him there...how about that??

For the stacker, I would have thought you'd have a hole routed out in the stacker PCB then solder in the chip upside down on the bottom of the board, to keep it thin. If the PCB house is any good, you can use that hole for pin alignment as well. Maybe for V2? Thinner PCBs = easier to solder the stack together. Also, why not a 32mbit chip, instead of 2 16mbit chips?

I was wondering about the 32Mb chip too. Perhaps a pinout related issue?

@@mrbiffo6729 I'm guessing the size of the chip could be an issue, but that's just a guess.

Fascinating as this is 100% a method people will use once the EEPROMs start dying on a large scale for these cartridge based games to restore their original carts to working order. I love your humour and detailed instructions you give in your videos. Keep it up bud, you're clearly a gem for the retro gaming community.
