- And now for something in the same vein as my other "side C" works, but a bit more specific: 3-3 Night, specifically 2 player mode, which hasn't been touched since launch. I've been waiting to see what the team did with it for a while now but it seems this is just the final version of the level. (MIGHT be changed in the future but I'm not holding out hope)
Which is a shame since, let's be honest, this is the same as the daytime version of 2 player mode, and strictly easier than Distant Duet Night single player.
I wanted to make this harder, but also in a fitting way.
Adding more characters seems... strangely inappropriate in this setting. So I'd better have a good reason to add one.
The Parrot here, I guess, kind of acts like the bridge that connects these two despite them being on opposite ends of the hospital. It flies between the two like I'd imagine it might in the in-game world.
And the way it mimics the melodies from the other patient is like the bird carrying a message with it to the other.
Known Issues:
Production isn't exactly my strong suit. I'm pretty new to FL Studio and I just downloaded my first plug in. Maybe I used it wrong, but I think I probably could've recorded a better whistling sound myself. (If I update this, I might just do that)
Also, things begin to sound cluttered towards the end (offset by the fact that this is a 2 player song) though the idea here is that I'm going for that delay pedal kind of effect? Though I'm not a musician so I can't really talk.
If an official version does get made and it's like... super amazing, that'd be nice. But if it doesn't, this may persist.
EDIT: This level does NOT work in double speed or half speed. The files I used don't get pitch shifted or timestretched so that's an issue. I haven't considered that mode but yeah, that's... certainly a concern.
Also, I struggled a lot with that title. And to be honest, this level did not need one. But hey, I got it, and I'm running with it.
Side note: You know one funky swing pattern that's peppered throughout the level? I struggled a lot with it's timing for some reason.
I think it's as close as it's going to be, but the tick is like 0.7777? I don't know. It seems like it should be 0.75, but if I do that, it either starts off the beat (which would make the last section sound very off) or it doesn't end in the right spot. I don't know. If you have a better way to make that beat work let me know. It was a head-scratcher while making the level.

Video from which I got that parrot sound: • Parrot Calling Sounds
The bird is such a beautiful addition here, masterfully done
Thanks. I like the sound, but mixing is something I've very little experience with. Definitely could sound better I think.
@@kingheron109 It already did
It adds a new row with it's own (heart)beats that switches between P1 and P2, and when it does, you hear a bird sound (tweet tweet) as a warning. Challenging, but also fair. By the way, I think blind people may play it, since the switch warning is a sound and the music is modified in order to fit with the extra beats.
Also, I like the fact that, in the last part, the parrot flies in the Mr. Stevenson or Mrs. Stevenson's side, depending on the player that treates it.
In my opinion, a great level. :)
_"It's like I can hear my wife's heart beating through this bird."_
It was at this point that I realized da parrot's rhythm is da same as da _other player's_ rhythm but slightly delayed. Genius 'n it sounds amazing!
I only noticed that after reading your comment. Damn, what a creative idea!
The birds extra notes fit and flow super well. The idea of it mimicking the heartbeat fits well with the idea of it being a parrot. It also has cuss to each swap, it sounds super smooth and both looks and feels like it could be in the actual game.
I like how it rests on the heartbeat line lol
my ass actually thought this was official
good job
Yeah like it could be the night version
I'm a little bit late but this is absolutely gorgeous, incredibly well done, it feels like an official level. Good job.
This is so cool! I think when done right, harder versions of night shifts can be so cool! I can tell you put a lot of thought and attention into detail with this! Well done!
that's... how...
whoa what
Genius way to make both players experience both rhythms
This is soo good. Period. end of argument.
very very late, but the swing you struggled to find the correct value for is actually double swing, so you'd have to make it a freetime.don't know the exact ticks, but it shouldn't be hard to figure out
Late as it may be, still appreciated. Thanks.
I would use .3333 and .6667
the 12-34-56-7 doesnt work with 0..333 or 0.6667, it requires split parts to make it exact
@@samkid123 yeah that's. what i said
this is sick i love the gimmick and additions to the here, especially the choice to use the specifically parrot to relay the heartbeats
my only feedback is that im not sure how much i like the instrument used with the parrot, maybe a guitar or violin would fit better but idk thats not really my expertise hahah
deffo gonna try play it later
