How do you make removing and then replacing the core look so easy? That part always takes me the longest because of the stupid tumbler springs! Does the 1100 not have tumbler springs like the 5200?
No need for a follower. Turn the core to where you can dump the key pins, dump em, turn the key 90 degrees, pull out the old key, pop in the new key, rotate back 90. Load in new pins and rotate back to locked position.
monolithicjoe hopefully you just pinned it wrong and didn’t put the plug back in backwards. If it’s just pinned you wrong you can pick it to open it. If it the plug is backwards if you don’t have a bypass plate in it you can use a bypass tool to open it. Only other way is carefully with a dremel cut the bottom plate off to get the cylinder out.
Is there any practical solution when you screw up and the top pins pop out of the bible and lock into the plug? Try to push all 5 of them back in has been fruitless. Toss the cylinder??
@@cottydry if there’s no key pins in it try using a key blank to push them all up. You can use it like a bump key. Other wise put a plug follower in the back and hammer it out. It’s just the springs that are stopping it.
Great video what pinning kit are you using?
It’s a master lock and American lock pinning kit from eBay. I also the American lock service kit
Great video! I learned a lot.
Glad to hear it!
Earned a sub , good info learned alot
Thank you!

Kvothe Arlidenson they use the same core. Same springs and pins and everything. Ive rekeyed hundreds of these so I guess I’ve just gotten fast at it.
where do i but that tube that keeps the springs in,? whats the name of it/ ty
Plug follower is what it’s called
@@BoredLockpicker no links?
I don’t sell any of this stuff. This one is called a peanut follower or peanut plug follower
Very impressive, no tweezers.
I pretty much only use them when I'm loading drivers. Or gutting locks on video.
remember to add a couple security wafers....
The Reverend why bother on one that's just going to be used for picking. That said I was surprised it didn't come with one those usually do
Bored Lock picker It makes the cylinder more interesting. creates drag.
How does it create drag?
friction. makes everything fit tighter in there.

I followed everything you said, but now I cannot get the new key to work so the lock is locked. Any suggestions?
monolithicjoe does the key turn the plug but it doesn’t open or it doesn’t even turn it?
It won't even turn, as if it has the wrong key.

monolithicjoe any luck with it?
Bored Lock picker, no. I tired to pick it but with no luck. I'll try again, don't want to dremel it just yet.
wait those things can now take 6 pins?
wow. Why did I waste my time looking for a 5 pin cylinder for one of these?
Jack Davis yea the come drilled six pinned 5

Are there any key pins it at all or just top pins and springs?
@@BoredLockpicker I have the removed key pins. I just can't simultaneously push all 5 top pins far enough into the bible to rotate the core.

U did not have to remove the core from the cylinder to rekey that... just turn it 180 and dump pins put new key in and then new pins
But if I don’t disassemble it and then reassemble it the title would wrong
I see... your right
