    Great timing on this vid. I just ordered an Abus/American/Master rekey kit. The little tips, such as which pin length spools work best on, are why I watch your videos.

      I'm still a bit of a noob when it comes to rekeying locks. I've only worked on Schlage and have a decent collection of those size pins.
      So Abus/American/Master all use the same size pins?

    Brilliant! My whole adult life my brothers and I always had a shed and in most cases literally, it was actually a “man cave” or smoking room so I relate to your channel name lol good luck

    Just subscribed Pete. Nice demo of how to pin these. Would you call that a challenge lock, even though it doesn't have hand made pins?

    • @peterestall
      @peterestall  7 лет назад

      Thanks for the sub, and glad you liked the video.
      It's not really a challenge lock, it has standard bitting (that's a factory bitted key) and standard American pins, the American locks can come with a mixture of pins.
      The only real difference with this one is having the spools or serrated pins matched to the bitting.

    You forgot to put the bypass wafer on the core. Make sure if this lock is going to be used for security it has a wafer in it.

    Pete, I was wondering how to decode American lock keys on the master lock part of the 5 in 1 lab key gauge?
    It has 9 key heights to on the master section to decode and the normal master lock only has 8 key heights I believe, so do we deduct or add numbers to get the American key depth when using the lab 5 in 1 key gauge?

    Nice setup you have there. I guess you really do like American locks. Is it just the padlocks or do you like rim cylinders too?

    • @peterestall
      @peterestall  7 лет назад

      I'm into the padlocks, but never tried an American Rim Cylinder, if you come across any, stick my name on one :-)

      I haven't tried 1 yet either but there on Ebay pretty cheap sometimes, so that settles it, lol. I'll have 1 set aside for you.

    • @peterestall
      @peterestall  7 лет назад

      Thanks, it was from the US, about $25, the shipping is the worst bit.
