Just done a refurb on a 1992 CBR400RR which I used to run around on, brakes, forks, new screen, heal plates, bearings, ignition switch, battery, mirrors & can plus tyres, it's a belter and kept me busy for just about the whole month of June. Nearly as much fun as riding the thing. This is a good watch for people like me.

Something about doing suspension, which is super satisfying. A job I hate starting but love it when I get going.
Plus, you get to make lots of jokes with the pumping action and noises.

I love working on my bikes, almost as much as riding them, so I'm enjoying watching you guys resurrect the beast. Mention suzi header bolts, engine mounting bolts or rear suspension bolts to any mechanic and watch him break into a cold sweat 😁

Had my rear shock service by mct at 50k one bearing seized swing arm would not drop used motocross grease apparently helps keep water out !

That's one thing we don't have to get here in Queensland is an MOT under normal circumstances. You are required by law to maintain your bike in a road legal condition and woe betide if you get pulled up and the cop finds a fault. But if the bike falls out of rego you do have to get a certificate of roadworthiness register the bike.
Beautiful, I've seen bikes with far less journeys than the Beast in much worse condition. One stripped thread and one self welded screw is still a pretty straight forward rebuild. My fingers are crossed that it stays that way.
But all in all nothing a sweet talk and a big hammer can't fix. If neither of them works there is still a torch somewhere. It can't grab to it if it's liquid 😂. Next video please. 😄

I had exactly the same suspension problems on my VTR a few years back. Used arm from eBay and fresh linkages from the states sorted it.

Oooh, a mobile MOT service would be so convenient! I hope he's able to work something out with that some day, 'cus all you need is a mobile version of the rolling road and headlight checker, it's not that hard to get moving if they let you 🤔

This isn't really a rebuild as such, so far anyway lol but still liking it 👍
For the subframe, it might be better to remove it and get the bolt holes welded up and redrilled and tapped, but you'd need to do the same with the frame holes too, which wouldn't be a problem if this was a refurbishment job.
The engine, although running very well for it's mileage, definitely could do with at least a refresh too. Piston rings will almost certainly be needing to be changed, cam chain and tensioner probably too, and potentially some bearings and seals.
Almost certainly will need a few gaskets as they will be perished or just old and hard (rubber gaskets), especially for the spark plugs, mine were gone on my 2000 ZX9r with only 23k on it.
Always milk last!
The GSXR will need a nice ceramic coating, when it's finished.
His answer to all problems is a match and petrol !

Already asked Pete if we could ceramic over the top to keep her in this ‘state’, but he said it would just wash off the dirt anyway on application 🤦♂️
I’m dumping WD-40 all over the bike so everything comes apart easy then cleans it at the same time ❤

Sjaak Lucassen and Nick Sanders have both ridden around the world on R1’s and Fireblades, and Sjaak’s R1 has over 500,000km on it now I think

milk before tea NO NO NO you are so wrong !! it has to be boiling water on to the tea bag , brew for 3 to 5 minutes , remove tea bag THEN add milk . looking forward to seeing the GXR on the road 👍

I watch all these bike programs and they seem to sail through things. But in reality bikes with their limited space are a fooking ball ache. Usually a long line of bodger's have been at them. Also metal bolts into aluminium has some chemical reaction and are an absolute twat.

The arguments went had at home over this. It's always milk first i think. I've always made it like this but other people put it in after. If you put milk in after you get a layer of ... scum build up. Milk first and you don't get this layer and get a better mug of tea.
