Apparently I'm not normal cause I know when I'm dreaming often! I actually play and make things appear in my dreams once I realize I'm dreaming.

Ive had sleep paralysis now my whole life im 50 now just had one , i get them almost twice a week i have experimented in my paralysis as i know im in it , Its still terrifying and or amazing levitating to the i can't breathe choking , One thing i can say is my blood pressure is spot on right after and Hart rate , but i have had them last 22 minutes how i know i fell asleep tried to wake up and a movie was running , when i finally got out of paralysis i rewound the movie i had never watched and remember all the parts from what i heard trying to get out of it , sometimes they last much longer than all the professionals say trust me im a vetrin of sleep paralysis 50 years now . Yes it has injured me several times trying to roll out of the bed or couch and have falls on to the ground is usually when i finally started winning , but with injuries i can't do that anymore , yes i can finally get turned off my back and on my side still in paralysis and make a decision to drop and when i hit the ground im always out of it instantly now i don't choose the drop i just keep fighting tell i finally win my movement back , if my wife comes in the room all she has to do is lift my arm up and im out of paralysis ,

Sleep paralysis I thought has been declared your muscles just not responding while shifting REM too rapidly… I get SP. the chest pressure for some would be explained by just the persons reaction of moving their chest first when along or trying to “get up” as they normally would … bc when I get SP I use my arms to wake up but my SP I remember my arms are extremely heavy and I can’t move my arm as it’s so heavy like there weight on it…… I can eventually even move My arm in SP since I realize i am in SP and I do this focusing thing eventually allowing my heavy arm to lift which then re activates our brain motor skills for the rest of our body… I am able to realize when i am in SP and get out of it since I learned how to stay calm…. As scary as it still is .
I also astral projected during one SP but not like this professor. I just was screaming “help,” while trying to move my arm and I even thought I got up out of my body but my muscles kept shutting down . My gf helped me get up and said I had dead weight and said I never even screamed she just saw to come help me bc my eyes were fluttering … but I swore I was screaming enough to the point i at least was able to mumble

One more share I have cried while in paralysis with tears coming down when you finally get out of the nightmare the tears are on the bed and face , I would be a good test subject I could get in the paralysis easily in the day nap after a couple beers 😂 man what a nightmare but I'm used to the torcher now

Thanks for your sharing, such a wonderful presentation, very informative and interesting. I have some personal experiences to share. Years ago when I was in high school, my study life was very stressful, I encountered several sleep paralysis. In those scenarios, I would hear very loud human or objects noise around me, and sometimes I could feel my body's circling around. Later I learnt a technique to wake myself up easily during sleep paralysis, that's to concentrate my brain on moving a toe (I focused my mind on moving my left thumb toe), as long as I could move that toe, immediately I would wake up. Since then I rarely have any sleep paralysis, if I did have one, I would be very calm in dealing with it in that state.

Congratulations for the great lecture! I find these topics really interesting. Unfortunatelly the opportunities to study them are limited where I live since the investment in science is still low. I really hope you can help the world understand better the misteries that lie under our brain, Dr. Jalal!

It is fascinating to see lucid dreaming and/or sleep paralysis when observing a sleep study. I’ve seen patients, who claim significant sleep paralysis, and I have been able to surmise the point at which paralysis may be occurring. It’s only happened a couple of time in many years, but I was correct on both those occasions when I asked the patients if they had experienced paralysis. The EEG changed-extra theta waves-and eyes appeared to open (open eyes are common in pediatric patients, in all sleep stages). Higher incidence of such reports in sufferers of narcolepsy. This is a wonderful presentation. It put some things together for me.

I really like your style of lecture and you have a very comfortable and Cristal clear way of explaining things! This is my first vid. lecture of you that I have seen now, im looking forward to the rest to see. Sorry for my bad English gramma, im from the Netherlands. Greetings from the Netherlands :) Don't you stop being awESOME! ;) Just keep it coming ! ;) Namaste Brother. Thank you for this!

Loved the video it was very informative. I have suffered from sleep paralysis since high school and did not understand what was going on with me, I was afraid to sleep. I tried to tell my doctor at the time and she kept telling me it was probably sleep apnea which was very frustrating as the symptoms and experiences were completely different. I have always believed in the scientific reasoning to why this happens and I think that's why I have never really visually hallucinated. However, I do hear things. I have heard dogs growling, ocean waves, people talking all at once but can quite figure out what's being said, radio noise like it's in between channels, and my least favorite, people outside my room discussing how they are going to kidnap me as I lay paralyzed. I once even felt my hair being pulled. As I get older it has become easier to control not all experiences have been bad though. Thanks for sharing your research on this, I hope to continue learning from you.

I think time perception vary in dreams, sometimes it feels so long in dreams, and sometimes everything ends so abruptly and we wake up as 'oh how it ended so quickly'😅
And sometimes I feel we don't have any sense of time during dreams at all.. i personally remember many dreams with no perception of time in it ...
But I will love to read more researches on it..

With out of body experiences I don't understand how the visual aspect works. Is it proposed what you are seeing is a visual projection from your memory of the area you're sleeping in? Or are your eyes open and your brain somehow manipulates your visual field to view different orientations of space? I presume the former

I was camping one night with my girlfriend. It was a nice spot, full moon, no light pollution & great weather. The night came, she slept by my side under my arm head laying on my chest. The last thing I remember before going to sleep was admiring the beauty of the full moon I could see from the top of my tent. I fell asleep for what semt to be seconds. A mere blink.. Yet when I opened my eyes I couldn't move all. Desperately trying to move, looking around in complete fear for abnormalities. It was not the full moon at the top of my tent, but my girlfriend! I was looking at her as she slowly lifted her head from my shoulder. With her eyes rolled back making eye contact if that's even possible? As she was slowly moving her head up, she was whispering all kinds of jibberish in tounges. I was in complete fear for my life. After a good 15 seconds of this horrible experience, she put her head down very slowly. As if she wasn't trying to wake herself up. I'm going to be humble & admit I even cried during that moment. I looked at the moon I closed my eyes as hard as I could. Summond all the energy of the Gods inside me and I sprung up! Like if i was lifted from the dead & had a second chance lol. I threw my girlfriend off me immediately & asked her why she did what she did & she had no recollection. This story is 100% real, no fabrication, exaggerations, or lies. I remain sort of traumatized by this. I remember it as the most paranormal experience I have ever encountered......
If you could please decode this? Or try explaining it to me? It would mean so much.
Sorry for typos fixed as much as I could lol

    Incorporating surrounding to dreams
I use to doze off in physics lectures the professor had a tone pattern that keeps going to a smooth low tone
The lecture took place in a small room
He would be pacing slowly towards me I would kind of sleep when he confronts me I actually know what he just said
But difference is he just teleported from 20 steps to right in front of me
    Using sleep for problem solving
Rarely I might dream of a solution to a video game problem before we had Internet

I had found one person that said when you know your in paralysis catch your fear and try to enjoy it , you can experience amazing things , he was correct i tried this 3 times , i thought im in a paralysis this isn't real lets get rid of the fear , i literally felt a levitation the fear turned into something amazing i levitate of my back turn 360 and back down to the couch , i felt a free fall coming back down with ears popping its was amazing , only problem is i got deaper into that paralysis each time after that amazing part , and felt like eternity of having a chance to get up , so no more experimenting when im in paralysis there is a price to pay for me 😂 no way i have had one last 11 minutes and 22 minutes i have timed it and my eyes are bright red Everytime i come out of it and im awake i walk sideways trough the hallway to get something to drink it helps me to snap out of the after feeling of paralysis that is also horrible . Just wanted to share my experiences with sleep paralysis if i do have a couple beers and take an afternoon daily nap it triggers it every time , it very rarely happens when i go to bed at night to go to work . It also happens if i sleep good all night and wake up and decide to want to be lazy and go back to bed it triggers it almost every time , thats two ways to trigger paralysis for those who want to study it more

Try mixing sleep paralysis with religion. The dreams turn into dementions. The feelings are more real then here on Earth. Powerful demons can give you sleep paralysis. They are built off of energy. The next level is dementions after dreams. A spiritual way to travel through time

If cortex (responsible for logical reasoning and executive functioning) is at rest during sleep and how will I use my neural circuits to fight with a bear during sleep... I mean I can't use executive functioning or logical reasoning now, so how it adds survival benefit????

Thank you for breaking this down so I can understand. In my last sleep paralysis episode Friday night t 9:30 2 entities stuck my hands over my face trying to strangle me. They looked like evil little elves. I was trying to move my arm so bad but it was glued to the bed. They were laughing at me. Sometimes I am so scared I just want to not go to bed.

I could build a story line when my alarm clock rang in the morning. In my dream, I put the alarm off, and went off to get ready and exit my home for college. It felt so real, I actually felt rest assured that I did it, until I woke up and it was sheer disappointment.i felt tricked. But I could only recall the end of my dream, the beginning part was very difficult to recollect.
