I run Zorin on all my pc's even my Mac which is over 11 years old and it runs great, no lagging whatsoever. It runs so well on my main PC that I binned Windows altogether
I dunno if you do already, but the VM suppose to perform much better with GPU Acceleration enabled. Cheese handles Webcams adjust, apply filters to, etc and an old gnome staple, Brasero also an old gnome staple that let's you copy and write ISOs to CD/DVD's used it back in the day when I still had a DVD-RW drive.
On start-up Zorin does drive check up which takes 6/7 minutes. It can't be cancelled although Cntr+c pressed several time. This is the reason I don't use Zorin.
If it needs 8GB, that’s half my total RAM. Not going to experiment with this as I understand it lags Ubuntu considerably. At some point my machines will go to Linux. Windows has one more year to live max on my main system. Laptop with total of 8GB max may be first to make break.
I teach both Linux and Windows. When my students first hear Linux, they seem to get worried. Once we begin using Linux, most of them switch over to Linux on their laptops. I agree some of the distros are faster than others. I feel you have to choose one that works for you and use it. Thanks for watching.
I used it for a year as a virtual. Now I'm currently using it as full desktop OS. It runs great as full OS.
I figured it will run great on a bare metal machine.

Its not good in virtual machines, but runs fantastic on a real Computer.

I tried the 17.1 lite and got the black screen of death I couldn’t get back into the computer without hard rebooting the computer!!
