I believe those bent safety pins are for holding together layers while quilting.
MYSTERY SOLVED !!! Thank you! Though I don’t quilt (yet) That’s interesting to know :-)
i always wondered!!!
The curve adds a degree of flexibility to the pin. This means that the pin can handle slight movements and pressure without bending out of shape or breaking. It also allows the pin to hold together thicker layers of material more effectively
For that bat shaped corset, if it ends up being a lost cause, you should totally use it to make a pattern for some new diy pieces. You could find some cool thrifted fabric you would want as a bat corset or vest like that and make a new version! Would be super cool way to get some use out of it.
Ps I love how much you use up scraps and bits of old clothing/materials to make more fun things. So thrifty and sustainable and makes me want to make things out of all my little bits and bobs
My thoughts exactly
Back in the day before cheap throw away fashion, my Mum used to harvest buttons, zips, ribbons, elastic etc from dead clothing. She used to keep them in repurposed food containers. It used to be for economy and scarcity, now its great it can also be environmental.
Depullers are awesome 👍👍 If you cant afford one, a cheap body hair shaver also works brilliantly.
What I love about the alt styles is that nothing has to be perfect, and doing things yourself is so fun, and I adore making things anyway, so i love doing anything like that, and I wanna make some more pieces cause the only times I have a reason to are for cosplay
the bent safety pins are used for basting quilts! they're really nice for thick fabrics
Each day I learn something new 🥰 thank you ! ❤️
i love that u threw in the material haul it was my favorite part 🥺 so smart to pay attention to all the tiny bits & think of all the possibilities for repurposes. i also love how when u for example talk about something u took off somewhere & put it back onto something else u would cut a clip of the previous piece, thats such a small detail but an extra minute in editing &, at least to me, helpful while watching. i feel like the way u pay attention to detail is something extremely admirable & as a viewer i can totally feel that in everything u make, from ur diys to lookbooks to how u edit ur videos, i just love how u go about everything being so mindful about the smallest things
My roommate had two sweatshirts that he loved but had to have cut off due to a situation that landed him in the hospital and I decided to sit down and sew them back together. The first one is done and took about a week of me sewing my entire shift at work (I work night shift at a hotel) and I was so proud after it was done. It's not perfect, and there's some spots I need to try to fix because they're itchy, but I'm so happy I was able to fix it instead of it ending up in the garbage.
I love cinema strange! Been listening to them since 1997 when I started going to goth clubs in San Francisco. 🦇
whats your favorite song by them?!
Aboriginal Anemia! I’d dance to that song in my room when I was a teen in the 90s! 💜 that song brings back so many memories! I have so many bands that I ❤️ I listen to all types of genre but goth is where my 🖤 is
@@NataliaArtistim listening now, thank u! def my vibe.
idk if you like Hot Hot Heat, but their first album REALLY sounds like this! before they went corporate.
i love this style, so raw and just pure creation
the black and pink corset looks loads better in my opinion!!! the finish and fitting makes it look like its a lot higher quality :)) you could probably get some latex conditioner if you want that shine back though!!
We need a makeup tutorial! You're makeup is always so stunning! I'm so jealous!
Ah Rabbit, you are brilliant. My fave is the stunning red & black ballerina dress. 🤩 Gorg! So Alexander McQueen. Your creativity is spectacular. Also, Walter was mesmerized at the end with all the harvested scraps and ribbons. 😸🧶 -xoxo Kada
I absolutely LOVE Cinema Strange! Ever since 2009 when I discovered them. I own a couple of CDs and a vinyl of them. I love anything done by Lucas Lanthier, honestly. The Deadly Ensemble is great too.
I'm just getting into sewing due to quilting, and i honestly LOVE seeing how easy it is to alter your clothes. You did an amazing job with EVERYTHING.
hi!! i just found your channel, and it's inspired me to keep going with an abandoned DIY project of mine. i've been hand-sewing as i watch this video ^^
I love how you could find almost anything in a thrift store
Maybe the harvested doc marten part could be a choker-collar? So much potential 🤩 always love your videos 🤍
I love that even in a 'simple' update kind of video you explain your process its great diy insight
Ok, I'm only a third way through the video but the emily the strange hoodie??? Insanely cool 🌟
Aww thanks so kind! Thank u!!🥰
Hehe ofc! Also I'm wondering with the bat corset you might be able to make a pattern... That way you can use a sturdier material? Also watched the rest of the diys and you are so talented woah!!
@rsaunders you’re so sweet! And I was considering the same thing tbh…. We’ll see in the future ! But once it falls apart fully I think that’s a great plan 🥳
@@RattusRattusI'm excited to see what happens! And the lookbooks 👍
Aghhh! I've fallen in love with your videos! I love your vibe so much and you give me lots of inspiration every time i see you uploading a new video! Love the diy mindset
Your DIY videos have been very helpful to me as an alt sewing enthusiast. Thank you!
Im genderfluid and finding my style in the genders is has been a journey to say the least. What I found comfortable and nice looking has changed ofc, but the biggest part that has changed is my care about what people think of my looks and having to pass in a cis gendernorm conforming society. Im afab, so I tried to push the femininity side in all kind of directions, but ESPECIALLY cis-passing, which I didnt do for myself. Over time (and especially the last 6-7 months) I experimented with masc outfits aand masc presentation and I really found a great style and vibe for myself and Im excited to see where its gonna go. That being said, I had stopped presenting femme (kinda), which was weird because I still felt like I needed to fit the societal norm, but now I’m ready to start with that progress too. Thrifting and diying/crocheting is something I found I really enjoy doing, because the process is slow, but the excitement of the finished product or what Ill find thrifting is so worth it (and I dont harm the enviroment as much, which I also like the feeling of)!
Anyways, because my style (especially femme) has felt lost, I love looking at fashion videos and yours inspire me so much and the femininity in alternative fashion is something I really like. Your style is so cool, and your diys inspire me to look at things I didnt think Id like but I actually love them!
(Im sorry for the rambling but you look fabulous!)
Hi, I'm genderfluid too! (I'm a genderfluid transguy). It's nice to read about someone going through a similar experience to mine. I relate to finding my style in different gender vibes, for a while I was also exploring (and still am) more masc outfits and presentations. They feel great, but now that I'm 3 months on low dose T (and the weather is getting slightly warmer where I live) I'm starting to feel more comfortable in my body and drawn to fem styles again. My goal is to be able to dress as fem or masc or androgynous or genderf*ck as I want while having a masc/neutral body & hairstyle, so that when I dress fem people are like "oh a boy in a dress" or "a ??? in a dress". And there really is something so freeing and creative, both aesthetically and genderwise in alt styles. Watching Rabbit's videos has made me feel inspired and more comfortable dressing fem while being trans
Another video with Rabbit 🖤 loved this video!!
Yay! Thank you!❤️
Rabbit video on a Sunday? Hell yeah!!
YAY rabbit diy video!! I love the non-diy stuff because you're adorable and fun to listen to and I love the diy stuff because it gives me inspo!
Don't beat yourself up about the first vinyl piece, it definitely has a different vibe without the glossiness but I think it looks lovely. The second vinyl piece I agree you should leave it as is! I don't think the cracking looks bad personally, it has charm and looks well-loved, no worries unless it starts peeling imo. The grommet change and strap fix did wonders on their own! My DIY depiller growing up was a hair razor loll it works but can thin the material if you go overboard. The harvest haul made me feel so seen lol
Gaaahh this made me want to sew!!!
Wooo!!! I was watching the last vid in small portions every day and i finished it yesterday! I was hoping for the second part ❤❤❤
K im a few min in and im genuinely so amazed by that pink and black corset revival. That is something i would never have the patience to work on something like that.
the vinyl corset would be so cool as a prom/formal dress. just add poofy skirt and spikes!
So true !!!
your style is so different than mine but these are still so fun and inspiring
you mind of the best 1980's movies pretty in pink when Annie Potts broke the fashion trends and I love you that fashion diy stuff-DLH
You can use super glue if you are afraid of losing your studs! It helped me a lot but ofc there's no way to cannibalise them for a new project once the glue dries
I wonder if doing a few thin layers of modpodge or some other kind of varnish might help stop the surface from flaking on the bat corset top? It would add gloss too. It's a really cool design and it fits you well so if all else fails, you could take it apart and use it as pattern pieces to make new tops of your own - imagine it in velvet! 🦇🦇🦇
I absolutely loved that ballerina dress, gonna give it a try to some tank tops I got!
Could you do a tutorial on square necklines I’d love to learn how to do that ❤
....now im convinced to get a depiller. Could be a game changer for thrifted stuff
Highly reccomend!!!!! 👌
I couldn't focuse on the topic of the video because of your amazing doll collection 😱❤🔥 So many adorable monsters aaaaah I'm dead
The bent safety pins are quilting pins to hold your blanket layers together
You can fake a "sreamer" by setting your iron on steam and holding it an inch or 2 above the garment on the ironing board, and smoothing the fabric a bit til you get a proper steamer
Ooh good to know! Thank you ☺️
19:50 that cardigan needs jack o lantern buttons!! :))
These are great practical ideas that can used in all styles. Thank you for sharing.
Yes,
Those are absolutely guilter's safety pins.
I always change my purses few times. 👍😊🤟🏾🖤❤️🦇📱
WASHERS on the spikes you are a geNIUS! My spikes keep opening the holes and falling out!!!
Just found ur channel again after two years!!
Welcome back!🥰
i've been mending some stuff myself, it was nice to have this on while i patched over some holes in my leggings :)
Oh how I missed your diy vidoes!
The bent safety pins are for quilting
I love your oversized long sleeve shirt
I wish i could steal your whole wardrobe, Rabbit🖤🧡❤️
With the bat wings you could make a harness type thing
Absolutely love your DIYs ❤
The bat wing corset style top.. maybe when its lifespan is reached you could take it apart and use the pieces as patterns to make similar garments.
Raven Digitalis wrote a book called Goth Craft and it mentions different types of goths and their aesthetics.
@@elizabethlynch6544 that sounds awesome I’ll have to check it out !
i love the cropped hoodie with the chains and the the fishnet top. GENIUS! i love wearing tank tops but want a baggy ..partial cover up. i never thought about doing the cropped thingies. also i like how it makes like a peekaboo shape on the chest
I cant believe I missed the notification for this! D: I'm excited to watch now though!! Your diys are always the best and inspire me so so so much!!! couldnt thank you enough for your videos 💞
I'm so happy that i randomly found your channel. Right in the middle of a closet declutter/ overhaul. Love your style and your own custom designs. Watched some of your videos while painting patches for a battle jacket with a nature/ insect theme 😆
I always love, love, love these videos! You are so inspiring!
Thank you so much!!🥰❤️
Oh amazing I love your outfit clothes. Be careful with pins. Your clothes are my favorite. 👍😊🤟🏾🖤🖤🦇🦇📱
so much fun! this gives me a few ideas for styling and doing mods on my own stuff
You're so talented Rabbit!! ☆ I always love seeing your new creations and DIYs :")))
i love watching your videos, so inspiring! i also love doing little modifications here & there to my clothes and harvesting all the nice leftover parts is so much fun!
HOLY SHIT THE WASHERS IS SO SMART THANK YOUUU
I know right! You can thank my carpenter dad for that one 🥳
videos like these make me very happy and inspire my brain~🥰✨ i really love the Emily Strange kitty hoodie!!! also those corset tops, when they've run their course, you could take em apart and trace the pieces to make a pattern! 😋 alsoalso i know there are probly videos on this already, but i'd love to see how you go about dying your fabrics! (if you haven't showed that already and i either missed it or forgot😅) alsoalsoALSO i recently mended a whole pile of socks and i have a bunch of sock bits now too for a sock top! another inspiration courtesy of you, thankyou!🤗🖤✨
You are very talented and creative! I will be watching more 🥰
Thank you so much
All these outfits are super cute!
Ty so much! 🥰
U can use those bat wings to make those shoe wings , that have gramets and u can lace them on ur shoes
Wow, you’re so talented. I especially love the dark ballerina dress and the Emily the Strange hoodie. So fun and inspiring 💕
This was so inspiring!
Love your style.
Thank you so much 🦇🖤🦇
Love your DIYs and outfits. Very inspiring ❤
Thank you! ❤️
how do you store/organize your scraps/sewing/crafting supplies? i'm so curious! can you make a video about orginizing those or room tour kind of thing?
Thank you so much for inspiration to mend or redo clothes!
I love that dress from the red top, you did amazing on all these projects!
I loved the video and the outfits!!!!
Cinena Strange merch is so hard to find much like their music. YT seems to have the most in my opinion. I used to love bandcamp but I've been burned multiple times so I don't download from them anymore. I digress...
I love your videos. It really gets my crafty creativity flowing. Thank you for the beautifully chaotic inspiration.
May I ask what you mean by getting burned by bandcamp?
Sooo beautiful! It's really impressive!
Thank you so much!!!
Beautiful!
You are so creative and inspirational! You have one of the best alt styles I've ever seen❤ I also deconstruct pieces and keep all the bits for future diy projects haha I need to get around to fixing up a lot of clothes soon!
You are very talented. You did an amazing job transforming the clothes🦋
Thank you so much 🥰
You are so talented! I wish I lived in your area! We would be making so much stuff!!!!!! I love how the corset came out! You always brighten up my day! I suffer from severe PTSD and depression and I snuggle up in my celestial satin silk pajamas (the exact one you use for your wizard looks), my mom gave me that actual pj set, and I snuggle up with my yorkie Maltese (who is always rocking Halloween spooky 👻 sweaters all year round! We love October, Fall and Halloween in this home! We celebrate spooky season everyday ! Everyday is Halloween 🎃!
You could use the relief 3d paint from acrilex to “make” de layer like vinil in your corset. I don’t know de name of the in English, but in Brasil we say just “tinta relevo 3d BRILHANTE”. i love de effect that it makes like a nem piece of leather
Looks awesome
U are sooo talented!! Hoping i can get like this someday!!
Gosh you’re the coolest person ever
🥺🥰
YOU ARE SO SO COOL!!!
How do you wash stuff with safety pins and chains? I'm always worried about it possibly rusting
If possible remove before washing! Spot cleaning is what I will generally do on really heavily modified pieces (like jackets and purses); some metal is anti rust and I’ve never had an issue (like with grommets, aluminum chain,) but if you’re really worried / worked really hard, I’d just be safe and remove as much as possible pre - wash :-)
great video ^^
Lovelyy~~~
Thank you !!! ❤️❤️❤️
this is actually inspring, i never really did DIY because i cant sew but your stuff is so cool, i wish i could get vinted stuff and maybe create my own gothic clothes- like where did you get your stuff from?
New aesthetic, Vampire + pirate = Vampirate (?)
Yesssss ! There’s so much potential there! 😍
I have ADHD. Of course I have loads of partially finished (or not even started yet) projects 😂
Your video is great as always! Question - did you ever make a video for tips for using a sewing machine? I found your channel a couple weeks ago and saw you mentioned in a few videos that you'd do that if people were interested, but haven't gone through to see if you did that yet. If not, I would love for you to make one! I've found your channel super inspiring, and since I basically need to rebuild my wardrobe from the ground up bc of all the weight I gained the last few years, I really want to get one and alter thrift stuff (esp since I'm also 5'1 so my proportions are hella off -- like, maxi dresses are usually taller than I am lol)
You're so beautiful/handsome! I adore your makeup! ^^
Thank you so much 🥺🥰
16:40 if you don’t want the batwing corset i’ll love to buy it from you!! 🥰✨
😍
Do a project type vid, start with one piece and process of the diy ing
I’ve done many videos in that style! You can check them out here if you’re interested:

What black dye do you use bc I tried rit’s synthetics and it just turned grey for me:(. I love your diys! I’m getting so many ideas!
I need to get the lint depiller SO BAD where'd you get yours?
I know I'd get a lot of use out of it but ughh i want it for super cheap...LOL
What lint piller do you use? 🥺
I’m literally the same with small repairs CCC’:
Hi what dye did you use on the first diy and how did you get the hood color to match the tee color? Also love the leg warmer diy those 3 where my faves
The dye was rit dye in black but any black dye should work!
For the red Emily hoodie? The hood was part of it when I bought it :-)
Thanks! That’s very sweet 🥰
@RattusRattus ah in the before it must have been down....I have been loving your content you are inspiring me to push my limits of the few things I can do so ty been in a run with creativity
i'm so in love with the detatched collars but i was wondering how they are as a sensory experience? i'm someone that struggles a lot with things around my neck, like i can handle regular collared shirts (usually with the top button undone) but chokers/collars and turtlenecks/mocknecks are usually a no-go, so i was wondering if you had any idea where they would fall on that scale? Loving the videos btw!! I've also been trying to tackle some of my tears old diys lately 😅
Hi!! I think on the scale of chokers/collars/turtlenecks , a detached collar (especially when not too tight and made of a soft material like cotton) is much more like the experience of having like, a scarf or something than an actual choker turtleneck (at least for me!)
I’ve made all my detached collars either from cutting off the top part of collared shirts, or from just scrap cotton fabric so they’re all quite soft and comfy, and (at least for me) rest more on the shoulders than the neck so it doesn’t feel too constricting (but everyone’s different) it helps dull down the sensory annoyance when it’s layered in my opinion too (like with a sweater or shirt underneath/over top) so there’s more even distribution of fabric :-) also, the ones with ribbon ties are nice cause they’re much more adjustable and can be loosened (but I wanted to put some snaps/buttons in these ones for stylistic reasons)
Sorry for the long comment I hope that helps! Good luck :-) I also think “Dickeys” are a thing which is where the collar is like, attached to straps that go under your armpits (under shirts) so depending on your sensory feelings that could either make it much better or much worse - but something to look into perhaps :-)
Good luck !!
Also! No one asked but this video is really good for tutorial on making the detachable collars if anyone is interested ruclips.net/video/olbQI6yMJ30/видео.htmlsi=C7tJVka9qtNhBa1v ❤️
@@RattusRattus awesome, tysm!! i will definitely be checking that tutorial out then:}
Where are the dyed leg warmers from??? They’re so cuteeee
They were originally a skirt that I thrifted and turned into leg warmers :-)
8:51 I love the dress you paired with your DIY cut fishnet top. Where did you get it? Or is it DIY as well?
Thank you so much! It was a hand me down from my cousin! ❤️ but the tag says “divided” which I’m like 90% sure is an H&M brand :-) hope you can find a similar one! 🥰
@@RattusRattusThanks for answering!! Divided is an H&M brand from what I remember! I’ll be digging for a similar one for sure ☺️
Can you please tell us the name/brand of the thing that you used for the dress at 24:20? :)
It’s called a fabric shaver (or depiller)! I used the brand Conair and I got the rechargeable USB model :-)
@@RattusRattus Thank you! !
