One of the things I love about this fight is that he has all of the spells WE gathered on our play through. So this fight will be wildly different depending on how much you invested in learning and gathering magic. Gideon was legit spying on us and hording the knowledge we gained for himself and it scared him so much what he learns he tries to kill us
I actually find it somewhat harder when you don't teach him the new spells. Scarlet Aeonia for example is extremely easy to dodge and opens him up to enormous damage, especially if you have ranged options. His most effective bread-and-butter options are his base Comet and Glintblade Phalanx, that spam can get ugly.
Gideon needs some kind of buff to his AI or something because in my experience he randomly goes static or just runs towards you for a hug! you can see him do the same here. Hes a pretty sorry boss fight even if you give him space, take your time, and get him every incantation, he's honestly on par with Soldier of Godrick lol!
The more big bosses u fight the more spells he/it have cuz he acknowledged from what u learn in the game if u get many spells I get is more harder to beat him
@DanteisntHere he has low poise so he couldn't even get a spell off between me and my ash tear. Doesn't help that you can backstab him while he's giving his long speech 🤣

I hate this stupid ass boss, there's just way too many bosses in elden ring, it's all quantity, only a few well designed bosses......I'd rather they had less bosses but much better designed....
He has access to any spell and Incant you have acquired in your playthrough, but he ALSO gets the spells and Incants of remembrance bosses that you defeated, so since Eso has defeated Malenia, he has the scarlet aeonia Incant you get from her remembrance. He also used Rykard's skull spell and Mohg's Bloodboon incant you get from their remembrance if you watch closely
The beauty of the "all-knowing" npc that tells you what to do showing up to steal your progress, and not only is he a pushover, but he gets wrecked because hed can't shut up. Bless you Miyazaki-san
this guy is kind of wrecking my shit atm...im level 75 and apparently the 5 spells i collected on my travels are the wrong fucking combination for my sanity...
@@taha51617 Gideon is the only boss I can't really solo. I can no-hit godfrey, radagon and almost Malenia if not for getting clipped by a small hit of her waterfowl dance about half the time. Gideon is just unbelievably cheesy and I can pretty much only kill him solo if I'm overlvled enough to trade hits and bash his hp down, but I usually just use the mimic tear right off the bat cause I don't care about boss fights that I don't consider fair. The spell combos he tends to have on my playthroughs are flat-out impossible to dodge consistently and my character often gets instantly burst down by the discs and delayed magic attacks that catch me in a single recovery animation.
I hate when people say shit like this dont get me wrong hes not all that but everyones experiences are different because they excel at different things i found most of the bosses people claimed are beyond powerful and broken easy but this guy felt tough to me im not good at spell related battles it took me a while to beat him and because i thought he was just an npc telling me something new i took no advantage of stabbing him from behind after that everytime i walked in he would automatically start throwing shit and compare to all the times he ran at this guy he would not run at me he just keeps spamming everything he got i cant go near him because he does some kind of move where he throw giant lighning discs around him along with other upclose explosive 1 hit ko spells and of course all the far 1 hit ko spell that he did not do to this guy he only used 2 of the ones this guy shows he was a real struggle for me compare to any of the greatest bosses ive seen people complain about not just cause all his spells are different but he did nothing of what he did in that video like run at me but im also not good at spell only related battles so my experience was not great i did win so that felt great but damn i could not see the easy for that kind of battle

@@animelover12261 Gideon is only easy if you have enough dmg/hp to trade hits and unga-bunga him down or use the mimic tear. It can also help for him to have certain spells in his repertoire that are not super-lethal because they ultimately create opportunities to hit him. With just his base skillset, for example, he is a brutally unfair fight that can be nearly impossible to beat solo without adequate stats and a lot of luck. I didn't struggle much against him on most of my playthroughs because I wasn't really fighting him by dealing with the mechanics; I just managed to spam him to death and ignore most of his abilities. When I fight him with a build that can't achieve that, it's just a disaster. I can completely bully every other boss in the game at this point after a few practice runs at worst-- I've beaten Malenia exclusively with dagger parries and curved sword parries, but there's just no way to directly engage with Gideon without getting overwhelmed with untimeable magic spam if you face him when he has a rough spell combination. The fight in the video had a relatively easy moveset to deal with and even then he had to spend a lot of the time running around at range. I find the fight to be the most insanely cheap when Gideon spams those golden discs consecutively while summoning those ice blades every 5 seconds.

What is weird is that in these videos he always gives you time to attack. In my case he spams me with such a ridiculous amount of spells it‘s crazy.

As a summon, Rollo (+9) did most of the work, worked very well against Gideon. Mimic tear sucked.
