First time viewer here. I REALLY wish i had seen this review before ordering this yesterday. Even though i paid about $70 for it i feel like i should have researched more. It might be getting sent back to Amazon. Great review btw.
Very informative video Andre. Reminds me of the GoPro Hero+LCD from years ago with the built-in battery. I had one for a while and never had issues with the battery. I have had the GP 4 silver, the GP 5, and the GP9. Also the Akaso V50X the Osmo Action 1 and now the Osmo Action 3... Out of all of them, the Osmo Action 3 is definitely the one for me. I love this camera.
Great review. Yeah I don’t think I would spend the money. For someone that has never use a action camera maybe. But I’ve had my GoPro hero 9 for awhile now. Have gotten use to that. But even with the 7 at it’s older technology you can tell to difference. Even though GoPro has its quirks. I would still pick the GoPro.
Help - just used this camera for the first time and the screen completely froze when I tried updating my settings while it was plugged in to my computer. How do I reboot it? The power button isn't working so I can't even switch it off...
Please advise: Looking seriously at the 4 Elite (New) to a used Gopro 9 at $290Au ($196US) (local pawn shop). Same price for both....... Worrying that the Gopro 9 will freeze/out of focus as per your review. Regards Mark (Downunder)
I apologize, I had too many window open on the PC. I had seen your break down on the lens assembly and I literally shuddered at the thought of me doing that for a repair. May I assume that the Gopro 9 even used is the better buy than the 4 Elite at $196US? This would be my first action camera mainly for touring clips. Action is out at 69 years old.
@@markstevenson3880 Yes the Hero 9 is MUCH better than this camera, as seen in the video even the Hero 7 is much better. Only issue with the Hero 9 is the audio has popping sounds for the 1st few minutes, I would recommend getting the Hero 8 or Hero 10 if you can as the 10 is a super solid camera.
Great video, even proves that these budget cameras can't even keep up with the Hero 7 should say it all ! Built in battery and memory as just headaches in the next 6-12 months when they fail.
If it was DJI making the built in battery, I would have more confidence , but since it's Akaso and they're known for cutting corners, time will only tell. I "might" do a 6 month follow up on if this camera survived lol
4:33 😅 that happened to me with a GoPro at a restaurant. I got lucky because it shot across the table and landing on sometimes hand, rather in their salad! 😯🤣
6:40 the photos seem decent (just watching on my phone) but action cameras are mostly made for video. If I'm going to take photos, my phone would probably be better.
It appears to have one more advantage over Gopro cameras (from Hero 9 an onwards), Live View to a phone or surf pad when recording. Something that I would appreciate if you mentioned when reviewing action cameras. We have stopped buying Gopro cameras since they suddenly disfeatured Hero 9 and onward models.
I doubt Akaso would ever want me doing reviews for them. The last one that I did was for the Brave 7 and I was really disappointed with it due to the sound issues. It seems like they have sorted that out with this offering but it really is over saturated. You can sort that in post I know but for that price I want one that just does the job with little to no messing about. I don't think I will be spending my money on it.
Everytime I try to edit my video in the app and add music the software just freezes they're just a spinning icon that goes on forever until you have to shut the software down
I never use the apps for any action camera, I always take out the sd card and off load to my computer for editing, no glitch that way and better resolution
Very nice looking and a solid camera. However image stabilization compared to the GP 7 is not good sadly, GP H7 kills it hands down.. Also, i am not a fan of built in battery and memory card. So in ending, not something i would buy. Nice review Andre. 👍
Hey Glen ! I agree 100%, even the old GoPro Hero 7 destroys this camera and I'm also not a fan of built in battery or memory as those can fail and not being able to replace it makes this a no go for me. Hope you're doing well !
I actually like the built-in battery/storage, it's going to be the way forward for more and more devices in the consumer segment. Pity about the image quality. The garden looks neat !
If it were from DJI with the internal battery and storage I would have a lot more confidence, but from Akaso, only time will tell if it can still be reliable long term. lol My wife has been planting vegetables and fruits all over the back yard and they are all growing great. Having a well on our property helps since it's attached to our sprinklers and we water twice a day, 20 minutes per zone..
@@WORTHITORNOT My cheap Chinese USB memory stick sill works after 10 years, don't underestimate cheap tech :D Same for rechargeable batteries actually, they'll probably outlast the device. I have a solar powered golden buddha, he nods with the sun. Cost $3 about 5 years ago, still working like on the first day. Here in Guangdong province it's water world, it rained today after a few blazing hot sauna like days and my roof terrace (13th floor) is flooded 😅 But I guess water in some parts of Texas is a luxury. Although I fondly remember a speedboat ride on a lake somewhere around Dallas. Nothing tastier than homegrown veggies 👍
I am getting really confused with Akaso they create another camera with some fixture that is not what the customer will expect , i dont want a camera with just a one battery option or a charging magnet and so on , they are confusing a lot of peoples lol or maybe its just me
Ok, thanks for a great review again and again... No need to wait for this camera here in the Philippines, maybe I'll check for a cheaper camera rather than this... everything is proprietary for this release :(. Better to check for a GoPro 7
People think they need to always " upgrade " their action cams when the newest model comes out like cell phones. I am still using osmo action 1 and very happy with it.
I apparently never learn because I keep having hopes for these "budget" brands but when it comes right down to it, they're not as good as a 5 year old cellphone. Currently, I'm looking for a quality 4K action cam to donate to RUclipsr "Oleg Walks". This obviously isn't it. Thanks for reviewing this so we don't waste money on such things.
Me too, I am also waiting on the budget brands to offer really nice 4K or even really good 2K, good stabilization and audio at a great price. Well let's see what the rest of the 2023 has to offer. Thanks for watching !
This is where Akaso needs to work on really bad, IMAGE STABILIZATION. Do that and people will buy in masses. Oversaturation is okay and manageable but that shaky video footage kills it for me.
I've been dealing with this Kidney stone for the past 2 weeks, the pain can be unreal at times, I'm drinking a gallon of water a day, Apple Cider Vinegar and Lemon juice and LOTS of Ibuprofen. Yeah this cameras field of view is way too tight. GoPro is the king for a reason and the Hero 7 still performs well.
So when you're out and the battery goes dead you have to find the means to charge it AND hope you have that darn proprietary cable with you? No, thanks. And the image stabilization...just downright pathetic! Very nice review, thanks for telling it like it is. (Bet Akaso won't be sending too many more cameras for review!)
A proprietary cable? Is this 1990? Don’t even get me started on the fragility of flash storage. A built in battery too? What the H3LL is going on with Akaso?
I think Akaso has lost sight of the goal. That or I don't understand the target audience. Not a Vlogger's camera, not a great action camera, bad 1080p (Am I the only one who still wants good 1080p?), all day recording requires a power bank and a device to copy the files to. Oh, and nearly useless internal LED lights. If this camera were bright pink or baby blue and cost $79 I'd think it was aimed at young kids. But it's not, so who did Akaso design this for? Not me, obviously. I'm off to look for another used DJI Action 1. Thanks for the honest review!
You blew me away, love the racing stripes on your hemi 392. Yes this camera is shady because of the internal battery. Once it's goes bad that's it you got to be recharging and recharging sooner. So that's no good and that magnetic plug. Once you loose it your a goner. I will not buy this action camera thanks for your review. Thumbs up.
i will say it looks realy like a earth quake with all the movement in the image stabilization what ever cpu they put in this dose not seam like it can take the amount of data it is being given so yes i would take the gopro 7 over this or evem the first osmo action camera or the DB power action camera for 20 dollers
Great review ! It’s like these budget companies aren’t even trying anymore
Yup. Just wait until the GoPro Hero 12 comes out, it should leave all other cameras in the dust.

By far one of the best product review videos I’ve seen to date. Very informative. Very thorough. Very much appreciative.

👍 for the review. That FOV kills it.
Yeah it was SUPER tight even with an outstretched arm.
Hello friend I am planing to bay akaso V50 pro, what do you think? Thanks
I think you should watch some videos and then decide.
Allredy did,I think V 50 is the best option, but what do you think?
