Excellent questions by the interviewer, and excellent responses from the director. Hats off to them for making a brilliant sequel to SM1 and, especially after this interview, I'm very much looking forwards to seeing where they go with SM2.
I doubt he will see this but one thing I thought would be cool and isn’t that big of a change is team executions, imagine downing a boss and all the boys climb on it to rip it apart or duel take downs like from the short animation, one space marine knocks the enemy down with a haymaker and your duo uses a rifle or pistol to finish it. I think the executions are probably the best part of the combat I really hope we get more animations for em
^^^ btw i know everyone constantly team executing could sound op since everyone gets shield and to remedy that make it so you can only team takedown when both people are completely out of shields or make it damage based if both players do a certain amount of damage to an enemy it should credit both of them the ability to initiate a team takedown I think it would turn big fights into a spectacle for the boys
If you had the apothecary he could get 100% bonus from stims, also if he picks the stims up he can heal players with 100% more effectiveness, thus people need to manage items.
I think sniper as is should be split into a scout class and a sniper class. As he is now he either sits in the back and one taps you or appears out of nowhere and grenades you. Every other class fits one role, sniper is the only class that can deviate so much I think they should just make it into two separate classes lol
@@Adrastium definitely would love a Terminator armored Marine, but there 3 problems to keep it simple. First the Primaris doesn't have a Terminator armor currently, there definitely could be one coming tho. Second the Terminators would be a can of worms themselves cause there's different patterns and "classes" they serve, which would be melee which would be thunder hammer, power claw, power first and shield. Ranged which would be anything from a storm bolter to a auto cannon and lastly the missile equiped which let call em arty, which they could be either. Last problem is how slow and tanky Terminators are, keep in mind Terminator armor is heavier and more protective, but it has it's problems as there's only 3 or 4 canon character that can run in it. There's been also moments in books where the weight gets in the way of the marine like falling through a floor. So I doubt we'll see them in the game.
@@paytonkraft7564 oh man, how much do I want Genestealer Cult in this game!!! As a new faction they would be amazing and add so much, theyre a really nice close link to Tyranids aswell!!!!
The Tyranid invasion is underway, so Genestealers would already be getting devoured along with the population. I wanna see more Tyranid units, Deathleapers, Winged Primes, Tyrant Guards, Swarm Lord, Norns, etc
My guess for the "new enemy", if it's Tyranids, is a Screamer Killer. If it's Chaos/Thousand Sons, then a Vortex beast or some kind of minor daemon. Even though Oliver didn't clarify, given his response that it will "definitely not be just a hormagaunt with a gun" makes me think it'll be a boss/majoris type enemy.
@@cnut7383 why does it have to compare? He just said it's new, not chaff, and you need to change up tactics. I mean sure, it could be a Hierophant but that doesn't seem likely.
@Green_Phos i was just asking what the difference is. i thought screamer killers were similar to carnifex. maybe they could act as a large regular enemy, we have gaunts and warriors, something bigger but not quite boss level could be cool variety.
@@cnut7383 no worries, I understand. Yeah, the screamer killer fills that boss-but-not-quite role nicely. It's close in size, bigger than the lictor but smaller than the carnifex so I'd be surprised if they made it a full on boss battle but it's def a majoris enemy. If you look up the trailer for 10th edition 40k they have a screamer killer in that to give you some idea of nasty it is. Plus it's one of the original "big bad" monsters from old school editions of 40k. It's been around as long as Tyranids have. edit: here's the trailer I was talking about... ruclips.net/video/X98ImCbhjnI/видео.html the screamer killer comes in at 1:32
What some people really don’t understand about the tyrannids is that in the story. It was just a splinter fleet it’s not even the literal fleet of leviathan. So assuming like the director said that the tyrannids are magically gone is blasphemy because again the main fleet is not even present lol
plus you kill off that splitter fleets Norn Queen in like the very first non tutorial mission, so the head was already cut off and the fleet lost its ability to replace its higher level synaptic bioforms within 3 or 4 days of the invasion starting XD
When did you kill the queen? You kill the tyrant later which gives relief to the ground forces. If the queen dies, the tyrant would not have a synaps as would all the others
@@Cannon6969 Norn queen are the source of the fleets hive mind or if you want the longer version, when the Norn queen of a hive fleet is killed it sends out a psychic death scream that triggers the start of a process that mutates the largest remaining bioships into new Norn Queen which will break away forming splinter fleets aka the one big bioship we kill with the ground plasma cannons is the Norn Queen
This game is hands down game of the year for me. I don’t recall a game that has released in the last few years that is this good. I would love to see Necrons added, and I would also really love to play as a Chaplain! Their armor is so badass
I'll admit it. I was cheering in my chair for a number of scenes in the campaign. I think the main one being the banner stand mission. We've all seen Banner stands depicted in artwork, in the novels, the sense of pure unrelenting determination to stand your ground and survive was captured damn near perfectly within that mission. It legitimately gave me Crimson Fist vibes in many ways, and sent chills down my spine well after the mission ended. So I thank Saber and Oliver for giving us something many of us have been wanting to see outside the pages of a novel or just static artwork.
For real! When he said about people complaining about adding a helmet for lore reasons I'm just thinking BS, literally no one would complain about it harming the lore when the whole thing about 40k is customisation. I have a whole army of primaris with mark 7 helmets. Just like firstborn, why wouldn't primaris add older marks over time? As relics or salvaged pieces, or just heirlooms, etc. We all want these things and the game will suffer long term if they don't leave us with what we want by the end of it all. SM1 will live longer, I'm calling it now. Don't even get me started on chaos customisation, and the excuses they gave behind that. The game is great, but still rushed and lacking in areas, THAT THEY REFUSE TO FIX FOR US. So I'm a bit disheartened, even if it's the only game I've played the past 20 days
@TurbanCatMccoy There's constructive criticism and then there's unnecessary rage disguised as constructed criticism. You do realize this game had like at most 4-5 years of development right? Most good games usually have around 7-8 years of development, don't forget the fact that they had to come up with a completely new story with nothing to go off of except for the ending of the 1st game. There are a lot of shitty and scummy game companies but I don't think Saber Interactive is one of them and I don't think they deserve this anger. (Also the game hasn't even been out for a full month yet man cut them some slack)

I would love if the bots would default to using whatever customization you've done for the class that the bot uses. the fact that you lose out on team perks and so much fire power makes playing with bots on higher difficulties a real slog. It would also incentivize people to level up all the classes so that whichever bot they end up with is capable of pulling its own weight.
Tbh having an exalted sorcerer boss that was more about demon summoning, spawning waves of horrors, flamer flocks, and some screamers. Probably a thousand sons equivalent of the hive tyrant in decapitation. A big fight at the end of the level.
My problem is GW is being pedantic with the armor customization. In the newest lore and even old Spacemarines either firstborn or Primaris can wear the older suits of power armor. Marks 2-8 are all still usable. The chapters hold on to these ancient suits and still use them in combat because of the effectiveness and legacy they hold. Wearing the old armor is an honor. Yes you wouldn’t be able to mix all the armor together nor should you but the old armor have no lore reasons preventing them from being a full body armor preset like the champion armor’s already in game and the chaos armor. Primaris armor can use the Mk.7/8 Aquila and the Mk.6/10 Corvus helmets in the tabletop in official box sets. Nothing fan made about it, as official as it gets. Lens customization is also a needed thing. Many chapters canonically use different lens colors like the salamander who use yellow. It’s in games workshops animations they produce even.
Gw doesn't do this for lore reasons, they do it to "force people to like" the primaris models and buy the new boxes they don't want people buying old boxes with old armor
@@ΩΜΣΔ Or you can have both ? The Primaris Helmet is inspired by a older Power Armor Version. I dont see any resone why there shoudlnt be more versions of Helmets etc. ANd People have more options for there Marines.
Chaplain and Librarian are definitely both desirable. That said, while, watching this, it may be outside of their constraints, I'd love to see Eldar featured outside of an rts. Given the Ultramarines are the protagonists and Chaos one of the antagonists, Yvraine's crew might be a good fit for an expansion. I suppose that depends a lot on GW and how they wish the lore to flow during the present time. That said, it definitely seems like a Striking Scorpion would be crazy fun and a decent fit for the style.
there are Necron ruins and artifacts in the game, its not unreasonable to be disappointing by their lack. As someone who’s known of warhammer but has never dived into it I’m super happy for the fans of the universe that this guy and his team are taking it super seriously and not using the ip for their own agenda
Those ladies and gentlemen did an awesome job in immersing in the lore and the models. It was a great investment doing that, you made a perfect game. First game in a long time which gave me chills! Thank you.
I'm really liking the fact that this guy is genuinely aware of cosmetic things due to his own experience painting and collecting figures himself. I'm a new fan, but would honestly love it if they chose to be more freeing with the customisation. Can only ask for so much tho, don't want to spoil the lore as that's one of the reasons I'm beginning to become addicted to the 40k universe
Now I know why the game came out as good as it did. Great developer, level-headed and pragmatic. Respects the franchise and doesn't compromise when it comes to quality. All of what we need a developer to be. Cant wait to see whats coming to the game from now on.
This game is so good! Sadly i have only been able to play the campaign trough a friend, waiting for the game to come on sale and then i will certainly join the fray! Such a work of art, i truly love what Saber did with Space Marine 2, One word: Exceptional.
This interview was pleasant. Always been into WH only recently got into 40k a few year back, big up the fish people 😂 all through my life I've always found the space marines boring and bland but this game has made me love them & want to pick up an army. I've never pre ordered a game so quick in my life lmao. Director seems so involved & I think the future of this game is going to be brilliant. Feedback has been so good & I'm already excited for more. I would love a wave defence game mode - I saw a thread about it & someone commented saying between rounds should be able to purchase support from guardsmen or get a squad or save up and get a Dreadnaught to help. There's a lot that could be done but everyone's asking for too much too soon. I'm here for the long run I'm sure whatever direction they go down it'll be good. Oliver if you see this I appreciate everything you & saber have done & have to offer. I know there's no microtransactions technically but if I love a game I don't mind laying down some coin for support. This is 1000% one of those games & if there's DLC it's getting bought. Also great content Well played 👍🏻
I always love seeing a director who's clearly passionate about what he's working with. Compare this man with a Blizzard Dev interview like Aaron Keller (Overwatch 2) and the difference is huge.
Class Ideas! Chaplain and Dark Apostle (Word Bearer) Class, slightly squishier than a bulwark + no shield, they'll be slower in melee, but their inspiration does an area of affect that buffs ally damage slightly. Weapons would be an Crozius or power fist, and pistol weapons. Librarian and Sorcerer Class (Thousand Sons), weird analogy, but they'll be like a range assault. In order to use their powers they have to be elevated in the air. They are not extremely high up like an assault, but you can see them from a group of space marines. They could have 2 powers, a damage over time light continuous attack that maybe chains with near by enemies and a damage dealing single target attack with a cool down. Weapons include a (force) power sword, Force staff, and pistol weapons. Helix Adept and a Consortium (Emperor's Children), phobos armor, squishy, heals more than a bulwark, healing is individual rather than area of effect like bulwark + no shield like a bulwark. Has normal phobos weapons, no swords just knife. I feel like these could help and add some interesting options, is true to the lore, and doesn't out class or out shine the other 6 classes
This is a great interview! It answered some of the burning questions I had. I hope the next chapter of Titus is an expansion and not a Space Marines 3 tbh.
The game has so much potential for expansion. Imagine playing Librarians, Chaplains or Techmarines. Imagine a Chaos campaign! Or mass PvP with (I know I'm dreaming) a DUELING system. I so want this game to grow

I'd love a Space Marine 2 like videogame with Space Marines vs Necrons. Necrons are easily my favorite faction but Orks would be a blast also. I hope Saber can keep this momentum going. I'm all aboard the 40k hype train!
I would love to see Space Marine installments in the future branch out to follow protagonists from other popular chapters I.E. Space Wolf, Salamander, Blood Angels, etc….
When we were getting close to the end of the game I thought Necrons were going to show up, when they didn't show I thought maybe we'd be fighting Necrons and Death Guard in Space Marine 3, in a later update would be absolutely amazing.
I love this game it’s been like a light in the dark for me ik it’s got its problems but I really love this game it brought back some of the joy I had back in my childhood
I had no doubt Blood Ravens would be a chapter available to customize as, was super happy the second I realized I could out of the gate customize my magpie. as a Necron main I was beyond excited going through the ruins but I really wish there was at least a small section of warriors coming up you had to deal with. I could easily see them adding pink horrors, blue horrors, etc. I think a wonderful mode would be a Space Hulk which could also allow for randomized titlesets but I think that is beyond the scope of what they'll do for the game. Maybe SM3 will have a wider scope. I'd love to see a beaky helmet option and also something around the idea of a Sternguard Veteran that allows some of that classic look (helmet specifically)
I know it’s a Space Marine game, but I’m brand new into Warhammer and have been building an Adepta Sororitas army and I’d really love to be able to play as or just with them in the game.
It makes me confident for the Kotor Remake, Saber is moving up a gear and has competent people with heads on their shoulders, it feels good seeing that in this industry full of corpo just chasing trends and hiring the wrong people for the wrong jobs, there is some devs doing their jobs with passion and respect
So happy with this game and the direction the developers intend for it in the future. I very much appreciate that anything you pay extra for is just cosmetics, but honestly if they'd want to do a paid for expansion of a new faction in a year or two I would definitely be up for paying for it.
I hope we get Von Ryan Leapers as Majoris enemies, as well as a Malaceptor Extremis enemy. It'd be cool to down a Mutalith Vortex Beast in an Operation as an Extremis keystone fight similar to the Hive Tyrant battle, with a Chaos Sorcerer blasting away from on top of or behind it.
It’s important to remember that GW games workshop have and will limit things saver can do in game as they like to keep the story going in real time with the tabletop universe.
I believe the future of Space Marine 2 is in good hands and sets an example to follow for other Aspiring studios whom want to create a unique 40k/fantasy experience in the future. Who knows, maybe we'll get a 3rd/1st person 40k open world Rpg game where you can play an Ork boy evolving into a Nob then a Warboss by gaining XP through fighting, a Space marine Neophyte becoming a Captain and given special wargear as he rises through the ranks - have the option of choosing which progression path such as Apothecary, Tech marine, Tactical, with tons of customisation options and execution/glory kills! Or we can have a simple top down 40k tactical shooter with squad based elements and possibly light building mechanics like Rift Breaker 🤔

Yeah, but we really need those helmets. GW are stupid for forcing the primaris only look when mark 7 is literally in the game and looks cool as hell with the templar cross on it
If they do this with the show, it will be bigger that GoT.
Just care about the fans… That’s it.
I already loved the game, but the passion behind it and your passion during this interview really pushed it to a new level. Bravo!
Warhammer 40K fans are some of the most passionate fans in the world for any franchise that exists but these guys did everything right and literally even took a deep dive in the universe they decided to work on and completely submersed themselves into another world to the point of obsession. The result was what i consider to to be game of the year thus far. They have showed everyone that making a nearly-flawless game is possible and pays off and they have even proved to Games Workshop that the fans were right. We love Warhammer 40K, we want MORE of Warhammer 40K but it has to be done right!
Considering we will now face the necrons and how unique Titus is, I hope Trazyn notice him and attempt to "collect" Titus for his museum
Either he dies fighting a daemon primarch or he gets his own dreadnought
If Trazyn made an appearance, there will never be a Spacemarine 3😂
@@anonprada203 If you think about it, enough shenanigans happen at Trazyns place that you could make a story pretty easily out of escaping it, not to mention get an opportunity to interact with members of every faction in the setting.
Sorry, but where was this confirmed?
@@anonprada203 Nah, it just takes place in the 42nd millenium
this is my first entry warhammer 40k experience and man i am happy that the community is so incredibly passionate for such a badass universe
Please add a librarian! It is the most unique between apothecary, chaplain, and tech marine! They could have psychic powers in place of grenades, as well as the obvious psychic ultimate ability. Maybe even psychic staves
Especially since weve gotten to see it in both games now
dont give them guns, just let their gun slot be a psychic power slot, same with secondary gun
@@brightestlight9462 swappable psychic power primary, pistol (inferno pistol??) secondary.
Tech marine nah I feel like we need a Terminator instead 😂
Would also be the most logical because they already have the Chaos variant ingame (Thousand Sons Sorcerer)
Excellent questions by the interviewer, and excellent responses from the director. Hats off to them for making a brilliant sequel to SM1 and, especially after this interview, I'm very much looking forwards to seeing where they go with SM2.
Oliver is all class, the team is so passionate and capable, and the game came out gloriously. Awesome interview!
Cool idea
The 3 classes I honestly hope they can add in the future are librarians, Chaplin, and tech marines
What about apothecary too? I mean give me librarian and I'm happy but I think having apothecary in the mix would be interesting too.
If you had the apothecary he could get 100% bonus from stims, also if he picks the stims up he can heal players with 100% more effectiveness, thus people need to manage items.
Maybe there could be a Terminator too. the Traitors have theirs so we would have our own. Just a Suggestion.
A genestealer would be cool as a new enemy
Agreed. That could also tie into a whole new scenario for the Operations mode. Example: Genestealer cult infestation.
Space Hulk'ish horror operations?
I'm all for it!
@@RazorbackX99 Feel like that's an obvious choice for a new multiplayer mode down the line.
So nice to see how genuine the devs are and how much they love 40k
My guess for the "new enemy", if it's Tyranids, is a Screamer Killer. If it's Chaos/Thousand Sons, then a Vortex beast or some kind of minor daemon. Even though Oliver didn't clarify, given his response that it will "definitely not be just a hormagaunt with a gun" makes me think it'll be a boss/majoris type enemy.
how does a screamer killer compare to a carnifex?
Pretty similar in terms of scale.
It's been around as long as Tyranids have.
edit: here's the trailer I was talking about...
ruclips.net/video/X98ImCbhjnI/видео.html
the screamer killer comes in at 1:32
What some people really don’t understand about the tyrannids is that in the story.
@@mercurioslevin1877No we don’t? There isn’t even a Norn Queen mentioned? Did we even play the same game?
@@Cannon6969 Norn queen are the source of the fleets hive mind or if you want the longer version, when the Norn queen of a hive fleet is killed it sends out a psychic death scream that triggers the start of a process that mutates the largest remaining bioships into new Norn Queen which will break away forming splinter fleets aka the one big bioship we kill with the ground plasma cannons is the Norn Queen
Feel like you missed an opportunity to ask about chaos customization, each class's should get more customization options for their legion!
Thanks Oliver for giving us such an awesome game.
Also submitted for mk8 helmets on the ideas page, hopefully one day brothers.
The real threat in this game: STUNLOCK!
Extremely well coordinated interview, great questions and good vibes!
They need to add the ability to change lens colour and the MK 7 helmet and other helmets no matter what BS GW say
Well you heard the man, we must start a revolution and post about it on the forum so GW will give in to the demand. FOR THE EMPEROR!
The eye lenses is insane
Especially for red helmets
I'm going to be fully honest, more helmet patterns would also do customisation wonders. How else do I add the teeth to my Carcharodons?
After just listening to 5 minutes, You get the Feeling that the Creators are Pure Lovers of what they do!

Hearing This all makes me VERY HAPPY! Both as a Fan AND as an Indie Game developer!
The ability to change the weapon load out of bots would be fantastic.
It's difficult to Programm but possible. Ubisoft delivered that I think a year after release for Breakpoint.
@@listrahtes vermintide did the system really well
A Screamer Killer would be lush if we got that for Tyranids or seeing some Flamers of Tzeentch would be cool
Tbh having an exalted sorcerer boss that was more about demon summoning, spawning waves of horrors, flamer flocks, and some screamers.
Probably a thousand sons equivalent of the hive tyrant in decapitation. A big fight at the end of the level.
No please, no more flamers
Lovely interview. And the shout out.... ❤
Fascinating interview! A lot of interestinf details
it would be super cool to battle through the insides of a hive.
Actually having a conversation with the creator. Bless the onmissiah.
Im glad he understood it was one of the best Games for 40k for a wider audiences. That it needed to recaptured. Good move on them.
awesome interview!!!
my theory is the new enemy will be a horror, they've understood chaos was a bit duller and that would make it a good bit more fun to fight I imagine
Well Done Saber Interactive! My personal Game Of The Year.
Thank You.
Great interview, thank you!
Difficult questions to answer as a developer, but as transparent as possible. Thank you.
there are Necron ruins and artifacts in the game, its not unreasonable to be disappointing by their lack. Its obvious some parts of the game was rushed... so few Operations missions and so few multiplayer maps?.
Some Single player defensive missions being nearly impossible on Angel of Death difficulty with AI and without player coop.

This is an awesome interview, and great to see rather than all the wild rumours that seem to go round about games now that are then taken as fact.
I think a good idea would be to reuse the pre Primaris Titus assets from the beginning of the game. And try to depict snapshots from his exile in the death watch.
Would be interesting
new operations in deathwatch would be amazing. there is already characters introduced in the opening that would work for all the classes
Not happening, not gonna work, wouldn't make sense. Stop suggesting crazy ideas that are impossible, you're just confusing the poor devs who have limited time and resources, when we really NEED expansions in customisation and basic operations
@TurbanCatMccoy you know thats what he was basically saying. new deathwatch cosmetics(which are already in the game) and operations related to that. just more stuff like the first mission.
Honestly, this game is fantastic. They have done such a great job setting a foundation for this game. Their is so much potential to make it even greater. Thanks for the fantastic game.
I wish the chaos space marines were more customizable but also a playable dreadnaught mode or dreadnaught class in operations
If I were in charge, I'd make it so that the bottom scoring player becomes the Dreadnaught to help them no longer bottom score lol
There is never going to be a dreadnought class in operations, it would break it. Cmon now.
Gamemode is likely
I'd also LOVE the opportunity to play as a terminator in the future. That or just give boltstorm gauntlets to the heavy
Such a great interview
Great interview, going to try and post this anywhere I can!
Man, librarian would be so damn cool to see with space marine 2's amazing graphics. Psyker is an amazing class for darktide
Honestly on the swarming expertise the devs have, bringing orks back with a massive waagh would fit
they should add a second and third loadout option like they have with weapons.
I love this dev team, thanks to all of those that worked so hard to make Space Marine 2 a reality, best 40k game to date.
Really good interview! If only Amazon could stay as true to the lore as Saber did!
Thank you.
Love this game glad they are taking care of it. Would love to see campaign missions over in operations because those maps are great as well!
What a great interview.
I dont know how itd go but some eye sight into Titus' time with the Deathwatch would be awesome. 100 years of unknown has so much room to work with
I'm really liking the fact that this guy is genuinely aware of cosmetic things due to his own experience painting and collecting figures himself.
Broooo... playable Chaplain would be insane ❤😊
I’ve been absolutely loving this game, thank you Sabre!
I cant wait to see what Saber does next. One of if not the Best current games developers right now.
I always love seeing a director who's clearly passionate about what he's working with.
Compare this man with a Blizzard Dev interview like Aaron Keller (Overwatch 2) and the difference is huge.
Man it sure would be nice to have more developers that are genuinely passionate or even interested in the I.P. they're working on.
They did a phenomenal job on the game. It had gotten me into the 40k universe. I’m like 3 audiobooks deep already since playing it
Class Ideas!
Seeing the tomb world was amazing and definitely a treat. Necrons deserve their own game don’t spoil it with an expansion
Space marine 2 is my favourite game of 2024.
What a friendly and wholesome Interview...i would love to have both Guys here as Friends :D !
EDIT: Grigorenko is now a Hero for me to stay of the Internet in these Times and still working his Ass off for it
thank you for turning me into a mad fan cant get enough of the 40k universe
Sorry, I've got some hearing problems and the combination of loud music and not the best microphone-quality - I've got some troubles understanding some passages.
Don't bother apologizing. 'Well played' is a company channel. They paid for the interview. Don't bother giving them advice.
They have a team that did not check audio. Nobody responds to messages because it's a faceless company. Read the channel description. There are no humans here, only memberships you can pay for.
Thank you for making this so good
I love this game it’s been like a light in the dark for me ik it’s got its problems but I really love this game it brought back some of the joy I had back in my childhood
I can’t stop playing this game. Such a fun loop
Dont try to please everyone if you decide to make Space Marine 3. You made a an absolute banger this time. Just do it again
thats so good! well played sir
Thank you Dmitry!!
good interview .
I think it would be cool to reveal one of the DLC’s Titus is actually a Grey Knight or became one that’s why he can resist the warp
Great video! valrak sent me!
Honestly if they want to keep the hype releade horde mode
Already on the roadmap
