  • While this instance may be the extreme, it is always a good idea to keep the motorcycle in gear, ready to move, and watching behind you at stop lights.

Yep! I always leave my bike IN GEAR and ready to evade if necessary. I also keep an eagle eye on my mirrors until at least one or two cars have completely stopped behind me... let them be the buffer zone! 😉👍 --QM

Well, at least he used his indicator. Although, looking at how he ran off, it probably wasn't his indicator to begin with.

Always keep your eyes and ears open; on a bike, in a car, or on foot.
On a side note: the way that man ran off, that car was either stolen, suspended, unregistered, uninsured, he was either drunk/high, unlicensed, suspended or revoked. Take your pick...all the above is always an option.😉
    Be safe.✌🏾

Very true, intersections are the most dangerous place to be on a motorcycle! I try to slow early at a red light and keep as much cushion in front of me in case I need to exit either left or right based on the crazy stuff that happens behind you that you can’t control 😮

Looooved the music by the way.
What will we do with a lonesome rider?
Better sit back and watch McRider.
That's what we do as a lonesome rider,
    Early in the morning.

Looks like he was late for Doctor School. He did not wait around for the Police to show up. I have avoided being rear ended two times in a Chevy Chevette. One time at a red light . I dumped the clutch and proceeded through the Red Light as I had checked both ways for cross traffic.
The second time I simply did not turn left where I planned to turn at 5:00 PM on a Friday afternoon as it had just started raining and a Cement Truck was going full speed ahead in my lane.

I'd love to see you talk about what to look for or pay attention to when stopped. I try to follow your advice and check my mirrors at lights, but honestly to me darn near *every* vehicle coming up behind me looks like it might clobber me. Right now, even though I'm looking, I'm not confident I'd know when I really need to skedattle. Maybe it's just a feeling that develops with more experience?

Ever see the horrible one in LA where a dude on a Royal Enfield was at an intersection and got hit by a grey pickup truck that had been T-Boned? He is very Lucky to be alive but has bad injury's and a massive medical bill. Car which caused the crash was stolen and the driver died. Nothing the Biker could have done to get away from it. I won't post a link but search man gets hit by flying pickup if you want to see it.

Given the speed at which this happened, as with most rear-enders, being in gear would have made zero difference as you can’t get going that fast.
