I'm planning to do a video on pre wiring rear entertainment in the future for the 2018 D560. If you don't want to wait, you can watch the video I did when I had my S550, installing the rear entertainment system from scratch by running all the wires.
I had to buy an aftermarket CarPlay unit for my 2017 W222 because it didn’t come with my vehicle. According to MB , CarPlay comes standard with w222 vehicles made the 2nd half of 2017 and later. Mine was made the 1st half of 2017. My CarPlay unit has intermittent connecting and playing issues SMH.
And that why I don't see the usefulness of it. I rather use bluetooth technology.

No, it doesn't. You still need the cable.
How do you like your 2019 W222 versus your prior W222?
There are more features packed into the newer model. The headlight do not fog up when it rains or washing the car. The headlight at night operate automatically which is a lot different from my previous model. It's hard to describe but better
