yeah, you dont pronounce the 't' in 'est', it's silent. That's just the way it works. just like in english with the 'gh' in though being silent. even the 't' in 'et' in french isn't really pronounced, it sounds more like 'é' or 'ay'. You just have to remember how these words sound, just like in pretty much any other language.
