Evening gents, I believe that the sword handles you found are actually off cuts of railway track. The rippled burr on the one face is caused by flame cutting.
That saves me writing the same thing. Yes it's when they've had to trim a rail to the correct length.
@@philyew3617 I agree. The profile looked like a piece cut off the track rail and the grooves looked like a cutting torch was used. I know nothing about this stuff, but was guessing. USA
Very much deserved likes for a good explanation and solving a riddle 👍.
Where is your sense of fun and imagination ... It's a sword, anyone can see that!!🗡😜
Thanks for the spoilers
YOUR BACK!!
It’s so great seeing the family back on the canals again. Dad’s looking good after his sad ordeal. Mum’s back behind the camera and of course there’s the world famous George.
All happy and making treasured memories as a family. I just love it.
Did not know Dad was sick. So happy to see him better and that you are all back! 👍👍👍 Dang, George just keeps growing! Wow, how tall?
At 2:45 that looks like a slice of railroad track, I have one I found in my grandfather's old metal working tools. It was common back in the 50's to use them as small homemade anvils around here.
There is definitely a feeling among your followers, myself included, to see your back in the SWING of things once again !!! I had no idea you were not feeling well, only that you were not making videos. I am thrilled that you have recovered and feel well enough to carry on the legacy that is "Magnetic G". Your smiles, and the excitement you feel at the treasures you pull out of the water have been much missed. God bless your family with renewed strength and health...welcome back from a fan all the way from Fryeburg, Maine 🦌
I'm not sure what happened health wise?? Just glad you are doing ok and and that you're back.
Were so happy to see you guys back in action ! Glad to know your father is doing better.
Please let the camara lady know she dose a great job too.❤🎉🥳
It's an old crank handle
So tickled this morning to wake up with a notification from Magnetic George. My and husband and I were eager and excited to watch you guys again !!! So thankful your dad is feeling better and hopefully actually not having a lot of pain from the accident. You all take care and Have FUN !!!
So happy to see you back, not knowing what happened to your Dad, it's wonderful he is well. May God bless all of you. Edited:on one of your videos your dad found a double cannon ball. I have one that I found here across the pond, I thought it was a weight lifting device.. hence..it was checked out with a historical society and found to be a double cannon ball.. thanks to you both, I learned it was worth a good pound/ dollar.
That T shaped iron George pulled out looks like a slice of railway track.
It is a slice of RR track. I had found several while working at a metal scrap yard for 12 years..
I’ve used a similar longer piece as an anvil for years.
i think it is tooo
Ahh, my favorite Magnetic fisherman from across the pond! Great to see you out there cleaning the waterways👍
Same here!
So great to have you both back and to see your happy smiling faces. Great video and a fantastic haul. 👏. Do hope to see more videos in the not too distant future. 🙏
Great video George, really good to see your dad back and recovered.
I absolutely love watching a father and son work, and have so much fun together. Brilliant!
Glad you enjoy it!
Thanks for watching 😊
@@Magneticg Sad to see this return was a one of....I hope nothing terrible has happened?
Happy to see you all back. Hope dad continues to recover. Thanks to camera lady for the recording and happy to see you gentleman out recording again.
The long thing with 4 holes @ about 20 minutes is called a Fishplate. It's purpose is to join 2 track lengths together with through bolts. There would be a Fishplate on each side if the rail, so the rail sections are sandwiched between. The flat item with the recess and 2 bolt holes is called a bed plate or pedestal, which spreads the weight of the track over a large area of the sleepers. These are bolted down to the sleepers with long bolts. They are used in conjunction with those curly springs, which are called Pandrol clips. The Pandrol clips keep the rails clamped down hard to the bed plate.
I knew the clips simply as track clips, thank you for giving them the proper name John , Pandrol Clips. 👍
Solid info ! Thanks
Glad to see you both healthy and out together again!
“I don’t know what it is but I like it!” How many times have I thought that to myself when I’ve been rummaging in scrapyards, or just poking around on the beach at low tide!!? It’s a disease, but it gives you a lot to talk about. Enjoy yourselves, you’re doing a great job.
Fantastic thanks for coming back missed you 😊thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Glad to see you are back online. Missed you here in the US.
More to come!
Glad to see Dad is back out swinging the magnet again. I sure hope he tries to clean up that sword blade and handle (if that is what it is and updates us on it when he has time. That was a really, really cool find! Look forward to seeing more videos of you guys again soon.
Welcome back guys. You've been missed by all of us.
Thanks we’ve missed you all too
Great to see you both back on the river, I hope Kev continues to improve after his ailment, What a find, outstanding.
So happy to see you two back. Thank God for your dads healing

Ive missed you two! Good to have you back!!! Hope to see another video soon! Take care of yourself. ❤ your friend from Oregon 🇺🇸

So very happy to see you back out because that must mean Kev is doing better!! I literally was just looking yesterday to see if you had posted any updates. Hope all is going well for you!! Great work camera lady!! Love from DeeAnn 🇺🇸
Great to see you back and looking well. That's a bit of a haul you got, at least no ordnance.
Good to see you out and making videos again. I don’t care what those guys are saying, you found a sword 🗡️😂. Never lose your imagination. Life would be boring without one.
Hi George and Mike!
I so happen to be a railway enthusiast. I enjoy railroads/railways from around the world even though I'm from across the pond. You found some neat stuff.
The heavy curled metal rings are Pantrol clips. They are used to hold the track to the sleeper using that big screw-bolt. The railway workers use a special machine to install those unlike the olden days when a gang of trackworkers using shovels, pick axes and mallets to clip the rails to the sleepers. Today, the process is even automated more with big rolling machines that not only place the clips, but also screw the track into place. Following behind are other machines that will ballast the track (the stones), and align the track to ensure smooth running.
The big flat metal plate with the ridges on either side is used under the rails as they clip to the sleepers. A thinner piece of heavy steel with about 4-holes in it, that would be a fishplate. These are used to hold the rails together when they butt up against the ends.
That big T-shaped piece of iron is a cut off piece of rail. The trackworkers must've trimmed a piece of rail to make the rails fit together not unlike a model railway except much bigger. The smaller piece of rail is most likely from the guide rails used on bridges. These are smaller weight rails that are placed inside the track to catch a train and prevent it from going off a bridge. (They don't always work but mostly do!).
That handle-thing appears to be a turnbuckle. On your railways, you use chains to link the rolling stock (wagons and coaches) together. There is a turnbuckle to tighten the connection to ensure that the coaches and wagons are tight against the buffers between them. Here in the US and Canada, we use a different coupling system that uses big hooks that connect together. They are actually much safer than the chains.
20:53 fish plate on the side of the loch. Great to see you guys back!
I love you guys. Been watching you two for years. Please make sure to make many more videos
Glad your back!! Look forward to seeing more of your videos! Like seeing father and son doing things together.
Oh wow! Brilliant to see you back. i look to see if you have posted every day, i was getting worried. Hope you are both ok. Missed you two. George has grown so much! Really made my night. Great to have you back, try not to leave it too long for the next one pleeeaassse. Thsnk you camera lady too, you do a grand job. Thank you for the video, take care xxx
So glad to see you back. I've been watching for your return. Great work! Sending you wishes for continued recovery. WELCOME BACK!
When making approx 1million of the wiggly bits in 1970 at Bredbury Steel in Stockport, I never imagined they'd end up in rivers and canals, rather like scaff clamps. Glad to see you back.
@ 3:45.
It's a cross view of a rail track. That's been cut with a cutting torch. That's what made the lines on one side.
I enjoy your videos so much. I’m a new viewer so I went back to see earlier videos. We see George and Dad but how about Mom? Come around with them and say Hi 👋🏻
Miss you guys-best videos, son and father so kind to each other, and your son SO well spoken. Will keep watchng for any more recent videos.
7:42 Looks like a some sort of control handle - the blobby end - with a square drive to engage in a mechanism. Off an old lathe or machine tool of some kind.... perhaps. Bit of a wild guess, to be honest. 🤔 It would seem that the railway maintenance people have a few questions to answer, judging by the amount of presumably scrap stuff that has been just dumped in the river.
Thats what i think - 1 side fits in a slot nobed side to turn wheel to open/close up/down or right/left like a lathe😎Cool find
Very glad to see you all back. Didn't know dad was sick/hurt???? So happy all is well. George you must be so happy to be back as you can hardly wait to throw ur magnet back in the water not even listening to ur dad!!!! Ah, to be young again!!!! God bless all of you and keep you safe. Love from Kentucky!
Welcome back. I hope all of you are feeling better. Very glad to see you back.😊😊😊😊😊
Great to see you guys back out again, some great finds and interesting finds too. Make sure you let us see what you end up doing with those track clips! Stay Safe & Keep Pulling!!
Welcome back guys good to see you back and good to see kevin better glad the videos are back
At 24:13, that T handle George found looks like the valve “t-key” we have for water in the US
Good to see you back ... the straight piece of metal with the 4 bolt holes that Dad picked up around 20 mins is a track joining plate, where 2 lengths of rail meet.
So excited to see y'all again!!!❤
thanks
Wow it's great to see you both. Can't wait to see what u find.
So glad you two are back...enjoy watching your videos..thank you very much..😊
Thanks for watching!
"Bout time you guys posted..!! Great to see you again. Keep videos coming! Hello from Central FL!
Nice to see y’all back at it. That plate George first pulled up is used to join two sections of rail
3:00 is a slice of a rail and all those twisted bits of metal are hooked in to hold the rail down to the ties. It appears you are in a canal of some sort that probably had tracks on each side for pulling cargo through.
So great to see both of you again. Glad you both are doing well.
I am happy to see Magnetic G is back! Yipee!
thanks
Great to see my first and best magnet hunters here on y t. Led me to a lot of lovely people to watch while its 104(40c). Be well and blessings to G, Dad, and Cam lady.❤
Glad to see yall back!!!!!!
Great to see you guys back. Been missing your magnet fishing. Tyler, Texas watching.
Hay welcome back. We sho glad to see yas. Blessings from Texas
Great to see you guys out and about, big hi to Kevin and looking good there George
@20:51 you found a "fish" plate which joins two pieces of track together when bolted
Glad to see you guys back at it , I enjoy your vids
Wow, amazing day. Track clips, track bolts, track chairs, track offcuts, fishplates, track clips and a track explosive. But keep hold of the track bolt key, not many come out the cut!
Glad you're back, stay well and keep fishin'!!
Thanks! Will do!
So happy to see you both back out magnet fishing along with the camera lady! Interesting finds! I've read several of the comments but I want to continue to believe the 2 objects "Dad" found are 2 pieces of a very old medeval sword!! Take care of yourselves. I look forward to more of your videos. USA - ILLINOIS.
Good to see you guys again!
i'm sure i speak for everyone on here in hoping u guys+camera lady are all fit and well..i know theres more to life than making magnet fishing vids, but you've all been sorely missed..would it be possible to have an update in the new year..thanks.. anyway, have a fantastic xmas and a new year 🤞👍
Hi Both, Great to have you back. The metal bar with 4 holes in, that's a fish plate holding the rail tracks together. The funny S shaped metal rings are the new style track clips. George was correct, the large long handled key, was for tightening track bolts into the sleeper.
Welcome back both of you hope dad is getting better 😊😊
Glad you're back! Great video, Gents. Cheers!
Glad to see you guys back, Pops you look great , looking forward to seeing your videos again
happy to see a new video!!! i think George has grown another 6inches since the last video! great finds
Glad to see your back !!!!!
@3.20 is that not an off cut of rail section?
yes i think so
Happy to see you two back!!!!
HEY DAD!! I don't know what it is but, I LIKE IT!! 😂😂😂😂 Love it!! ☺
So happy to see you guys back again. Reading the previous comments. I didn't know Kev had been poorly. Happy to see he's on the mend.
I don't care if "what you don't know what it is," is part of the railroad or whatever... I much prefer that IT IS a sword... 👍😁
Take care all 3 of you and know that you've been missed. ❤
//Solani
Oh and yes... Camera Lady is right, you need to weld a sheep out of all those curly thingies... 😉😇
Glad to see y'all back! Hope your dad is back to his old self!☺
20:17 it is a track joiner. There are two, one either side of the track lengths and they are bolted to the tracks joining them together and keeping them in line.
You are back, at last! 🤗 Great to see you again! 🤗
Hello gentlemen congratulations on your discovery yes as you said these are the rest of the bridge 😁😁 on the other hand a great sword to rework and restore 👍👍
good seeing you's again, glad your safe 👍
Thanks 👍
Welcome back! Kept looking for you.
I have been watching for a new video and was so happy to find one. ❤
Good to see you back guys
🤜🤛
Thanks
So happy to see you all once again !!!! Please keep making your wonderful videos !!!!! Happy Healthy New Year to you !!!!
Post more guys! Come back soon!
The long plate with the Four holes on are Fish plates, so called because they have oval holes to allow for track expansion in hot weather to prevent buckling, they are mobile connections that move with the track.
Those track chairs are modern ones, as the older types had Four holes.
Wow what a lovely surprise on a Sunday evening to see you both, and so pleased you are doing well, very interesting bits and pieces,l will be looking them up for you x
Glad you enjoyed it
Glad your back!!!!
thanks for watching
So nice, to have the both of you back 😊.
Great to see you 2 blokes again. 😊. 👊🏻
That sword handle is a slice of railway track..
I agree that the rings hold the rails to the ties. I’ve seen them used on tracks before. 👍🏻
Great finds, will need another visit
Glad to see your back out magnet fishing definately going to be a wicked video 😊
Great to see you back great finds x
Nice to be back out Susan, pleased you enjoyed the video 😊
So glad to see you all.

So good see you back and looking healthy
The link things you found are called 'pandrol clips'. They are used for holding down the track sections and are made in worksop notts......at pandrol!!
Great vid. Cheers....
Thanks for the info!
It's good see you again! Good job!
Had a lot of fun watching u two again, welcome bk dad and George, missed yr fun finds and today was no exception ! Tell George to stop pulling the bridge to bits !! 😂❤❤
Good to see you posting videos again. I hope your dad is continuing to get well. Did you keep the railway bolts? From watching a usa magnet fisher the one you found with the writing on top of the head are the ones most valuable. The other guy is always checking the ones he pulls out to see if there are any letters on them.
Great post. Peace be with you. God bless. Nora
That would be a nice weigh in by the time use two have finished , fairplay to you both George and dad 👍👍allott ov train track components,
