  • Why use case, and choosing a standardized test platform is so important to C.A.T engineers developing performance suppression systems.

    So would it be accurate to say that WB performs BETTER than Noah on 5.56, despite less internal volume? Or do they perform comparably, just Noah is optimized for 6 ARC and is less efficient for 5.56, therefore the extra size isn't beneficial?

    • @specterscat
      @specterscat  Месяц назад +2

      WB is exceptional on 556 for its form factor.

    Will we ever see a CAT suppressor optimized rifle or handgun

    • @tristanfreel7774
      @tristanfreel7774 Месяц назад +1

      We already do. 5.56 is a rifle cartridge so a 5.56 suppressor (the WB) is rifle specific. The best example in their product lineup is the MOB vs SC. The MOB is for a PCC platform 9mm while the SC is for pistol platform 9mm.

      @@mutejosh You are right. I thought I wasn't reading it right. And I do have an answer for you. They have been teasing a suppressor optimized rifle that they say will release Q4 2024 or Q1 2025. But no pistol variant.

      Yep, AlleyCAT CACM is a full 556 + suppressor combo, out before end of year. 250 for civilian fans of CAT.

    I understand from the video that the performance will suffer but- my Cat ODB 718 (regardless of optimal suppression) will it work on a 308? or will it damage the suppressor?

    • @mattwilson7344
      @mattwilson7344 Месяц назад

      The ODB is their .30 cal call and is optimized for semi auto .30 cal variants like an AR-10 platform in .308 from my understanding. You should be good to go. The JL is a bolt gun specific .30 cal can from my understanding. The ODB should be fine on a bolt gun too.

      @@mattwilson7344 yeah but the description of the ODB on their website, says
      "762x39 (MAX 762 NATO)"
      but 308 has higher pressure than 762NATO..

      It will work, I've shot one on a 20" bolt 308, but it wasn't very quiet. It would be OK for reducing blast, and it's OK if you are taking a shot without earpro for hunting. But even with earpro, I would want something a lot quieter if I was blasting away with a semi-auto 308. Because of that experience, I'm pretty doubtful on the Dirty Dave's performance since it's smaller and louder than ODB. That's one can I'm staying away from.

      @PrestonS-t9j thanks for trying to answer. but I don't think they replied exactly what I wanted to know.
      I understand the DD is recommended over the ODB, my question is just if it will get damaged. But they tend to reply with " we recommend such and such" but not a clear "Yes" or "no"...

      Got to disagree dude, not one of us in the office run AC on a work guns, all IN718 or Ti64, and most civilians don’t need AC. AC’s are over engineered for Duty because of some department requirements they would never shoot. We’ll take lighter with good durability any day over extra ounces. Stay tuned for some new vids coming.
