Hi guys! My hubby & I have watched all your videos, just recently. We’ve been boondocking for 6+ years now. We took our awesome DIY Nissan 2500 campervan to Alaska for a 3-month trip a few years ago & enjoy revisiting many places thru your videos. You have inspired us to check out the Winnebago 4x4 Revel down here in the Midwest. It was as awesome as we thought it would be! My hubby promised we were just “looking.” However, that was a bust! We are now proud new owners as of yesterday! Have a great New Years at the Arctic Circle “campground.” (Don’t forget to top off your fuel!) We loved it there-all by ourselves, in late September. Let us know if you see the Northern Lights!
What an amazing comment! We are so happy that you have enjoyed our videos and we hope you love your new purchase as much as we do. We fell into the same trap "we are just looking." Join the Winnebago Revel 4x4 facebook group if you haven't already. So many helpful people there to answer all of your questions as they arise. We are also always willing to answer any questions you may have. Congratulations! Happy New Year!
He just "got got". Wow! That is cold there for sure. How cold? Even Ember won't get in the water 😂. No fair going to Banks without us. ❤️. Jim, love the haircut. Bad time of the year for a sheer though isn't it? Ember looks like "what the crap are you putting on me dad?" That is precious. Our Jake did the same kind of "marching" when we put boots on him. 😂😂😂😂❤️❤️. I think she likes them. Camp Wal-Mart looks cold. Can you hook up to their electric? Hi guys. That's cool to hear our voice in the video while you're watching. Love you two, three very much.
You guys mean more to us than you know. We didn't have our cords with us to plug in lol. Happy New Year and our hearts go out to you! Much ❤️ Miss you. 😘
Ember is so cute in her boots. She seems to like them. It’s nice to hear you talk about growing up in Alaska. You’re not rookies to this, with or without a van. Looking forward to what’s next. Stay safe.
Ha! At least your fur baby adapted quickly to the booties! Angel rips them off and then complains with her paws up... She also hates her winter coat ... but that is an entire other story. Good to know that the Revel insulation and what you added holds up to that weather.. we have that sometimes in Montreal.. although freezing rain for us is more dangerous. xoxo Thanks for another cute video.
Watching Ember with the booties was hilarious. Recently bought some my lab Remi and got the same results the first couple of time. Now she loves them.....
Yes! They allow for her to stay out longer for sure. She still doesn't like having them put on but once they're on there's no stopping her. Thanks for coming along! 😁
TV in the background, the football game Cowboys and EAGLES. I bleed green for the EAGLES. Good to know I can watch them when I go up. Amber and her booties, so cute. She knows what's good for her paws. I will be on the road in about a yr. when pension kicks in. I love watching you guys. I want to come to Alaska and hopefully stay for a while. I want to experience your life within that beauty. Hopefully, you and Jim are still out there and I can come up to meet you and hang for a little while. I'm not sure what I will be buying for my travels, no doubt I hope the Revel 4x4 will be in the running. Thank you for the time it takes to make your videos and for bringing us along for the ride. It is New Year's eve, 10:12 PM on the east coast, on the Jersey shore. The beach is beautiful. Happy New Year and I can't wait to see your video of the Arctic Circle. Come on pension...I can't wait.
Thanks for the update, didn’t think we’d see ya till next year! Ambers reaction to the new boots was hilarious. So cool for a native Floridian to see those arctic conditions, so beautiful. You guys really are bringing novel content , thanks! 🐾🐾
Hi Cynthia and Jim! Just wanted to let you know I watched another old video where water broke at a lake and they closed a road off and you went another way to get to where you are going. And you were putting in little boots for Amber. It was so cute I showed my mom and sister and they loved Amber walking in them. I love Amber and you and Jim. Real nice people. You looked nice and cozy Cynthia. Hope you got some rest that night after it being cold. Can’t wait to see next video. Stay safe! Sherri
You're so sooo sweet. We did take a break from releasing a video this past Sunday. Mostly because we want to continue our Current quality but we also just spent 5 days without cell phone service, so knowing you're catching up with us and sharing is heart warming. I think you'll like the beautiful place we're at now. The lake is crystal clear and the leaves are golden and red. Stunning. We look forward to seeing you next Sunday. Stay well. xoxo
Aw Ember is the sweetest:) I just found your channel! I've watched a few but was really excited when I saw that you were headed to Fairbanks. I also lived in Fairbanks for 3 years, 1977 - 1980. I went to Lathrop HS & yes I've been to North Pole several times:) Thanks for sharing 👍
BRRRRR!!!!!! lol it looks cold there right now... Glad to see ya all Im so excited to get camping again we are home closing up and so we can go to Arizona:) wow alerts and all river broke thats not good ....looks like Amber loves the winter and those boots lmao love your fur baby:) another great video my friends so cant wait to meet you are you still coming down in May you can park at our house lol safe travels take care
No curveballs in this video, but you had me rather concerned when you said the river broke! How on Earth do you guys manage to break a river!?!? 😂. You're gonna need a bunch of Duct Tape and Super Glue to patch something like that up. Does Alaska State have Home Owner's insurance? Call them up, "Hey, the river broke." In all seriousness, because people were adversely affected by it, I hope everyone got out alright. Listening to Ember run around in those boots was hilarious. If you turn the volume up it sounds like a horse running by! Glad to see she likes the boots. Do they come in the cleated variety so she wouldn't slip all over the place? So glad to see that the van is serving you well in that cold weather. Have you noticed any issues with fuel consumption when you're running the heater? Keep up the great work on your videos! You guys rock!
We haven't had any significant fuel consumption changes since we run the heater often anyhow. We thought the same thing but we thought it sounded more like a caribou :) . Kind of funny watching her get used to them. We didn't see any with cleats on them probably not very safe. These have a sandpaperish bottom to them so it helps when she isn't being clumsy!
Your dog is so much fun if she's not in the water she just seems happy I always enjoy your videos this one is making me cold I'm thinking about putting my coat on lol looking forward for next yr videos from you guys stay safe
do you have an "arctic package" on the sprinter ?? block heater .. battery warmer and so on .. where did you plug it in over night (for the engine block heater) do you drive with front grill covers ?? I used to live in the northern arctic of canada for many years and all these things were totally necessary when driving in -40c degrees ..
We do not have a block heater because we spend most of our time off grid. I guess we could use a generator but we did ok without it. We are planning to insulate the DEF tank prior to this winter and will probably get a bra made for the grill as well. Those two things would have been handy as we learned. Stay safe! Great tips :)
Just love the music you use in your videos. It seems to fit my mood all the time. Amber really got used to the shoes very fast. Stay warm out there guys. Cheers!!!
Hi Joe. it depends where we are. Sometimes we have some service but it is slow and sometimes we are just outside of a cell tower and have great service. Sometimes we have no service at all.
Thank you Andrew! We have had Labs forever and keep a close eye on their health. first time we have ever put booties on one but she seems to like them. She is a little princess with pretty tender paws lol. Happy New Year!
Am curious to find out how careful you have to be conserving the Revel AGM batteries especially during winter when there's less sunlight for topping them off while parked. Have you had any problems with keeping the batteries topped up? Would love to see a video on this -your approach to battery power management etc and your real-world thoughts, best practices and observations regarding van power. Thanks. Keep the vids coming. Happy New Year!
How do you handle diesel gelling? Do you use anti-gel, #1 diesel or straight kerosene? Or is it simply not an issue in the Revel (even at 30 to 40 below).
We didn’t have any issues throughout the winter with gelling. They do use additives in the diesel up here during the winter so it is a different mix between winter and summer. Not sure if that plays a part in it or if maybe we just got lucky. We will carry some anti gel additive with us this winter when we head up north though.
No. We don't have to leave the engine running. We turn it on in the morning for a few minutes to well...ensure it starts, but we have never had to leave the actual engine running. That's the beauty of our Espar heating system.
They do a wonderful job! That guy was going way to fast in those conditions! Crazy to see the river break free at such low temps. Sounds like everyone is ok from those floods.
Hi Andy, thank for stopping by. Once it get to a certain amount of cold it is just cold 🤣. The nice thing about cold is you can layer up for it. Much better than too hot. Hope you have a great week!
Great find on the boots, I had a different brand for my 140 lb Rottweiler, if he ran to fast they would go flying off. But very helpful for him in the -40 degree weather in Thief River Falls, MN. I enjoy the videos, I hope to travel more of Canada in the future.
2:38 when you said look at her and then a little later you said something about how interesting or whatever...... I looked and looked and looked, I can't see anything and I'm wondering what you're talking about?
That was a view of Denali. I refer to the mountain as a "her" for some reason. She's a rare sight to see because of weather patterns. On this particular day you could see the entire mountain but my camera wasn't picking it up as well as it looked in real life. Sometimes its sad when people come to Alaska to see Denali in the summer and they never get to see her. The best time to view the mountain is in the winter. I'm sure it doesn't help that our windows were so fridge dirty!
Actually, she really enjoys the boots... if you notice your dog lifting their paws awkwardly in the cold that means they are freezing. The boots extends the amount of time she is happy outside in these conditions. Thanks for watching!

Ember is such a sweet baby. I laughed watching her go through all 5 stages of grief with those booties.
I am sure she is excited to put them back on again soon 🤣
@@WingsandWheelsAlaska water forgives all transgressions. Never have I known a fur baby to love water that much. My heart truly melts to witness.
