  • On this episode of INFLATED!!!
    On this episode of INFLATED, I have a Zodiac Futura Mark 2C that has come into the shop for some major repairs. This boat is turning into a Restoration Rescue where the previous repair shop tried pouring epoxy into the transom to prevent it from rotting and falling. It did prevent it from doing that, but now the boat leaks water around those areas of the transom, while putting a hole in the tube from the sharp edges created after the epoxy cured. Now that the floor and transom are out, New transom can be installed. More cleaning and installing. Enjoy!!!

    What material did you use to make the new transom? Looks fantastic!.. another quality job!

      Used the Quicksilver material for this repair. Zodiac was on backorder. Wood was Marine Fur soaked in epoxy with a gelcoat shell.

    can i use about 250ml can of 3026 Adhesive, 10ml bottle of 3965 Curative two part glue to the whole bottom and transom on a 11ft dinghy or do i need more?

    • @gashopperinc
      @gashopperinc  7 месяцев назад +1

      Never used that glue here, but if it's a 2 part glue for PVC or Hypalon Material, then I don't see a problem. You may need more than 250ml though. We usually go through 1 and a half cans of the Z7096 for a complete job like that. (Floor and transom) The Z7096 cans are 750ml.

    What glue do you recommend for gluing the floor to the tubes on a 1999 mk2c. Do you still have your Skyline?

    • @gashopperinc
      @gashopperinc  11 месяцев назад +1

      Zodiac Z7096 Plastomere Glue or UK-148 Glue from Stabond.

    At my boat the fiberglass floor has come off completely. What are the glue options? I rather use one that I can buy anywhere local.

      @gashopperinc  Год назад +1

      Not sure what you mean by the bottom has fallen on a fiberglass boat, but for PVC use Zodiac Z7096, Stabond UK-148, or Weaver 3001, if Hypalon use Zodiac Z7098, Stabond UK-148 works as well, or Weaver 2001. Unless you have a inflatable dealer near you or you live on the Coast, might be hard to find local. We ship from our shop if you need.

    Whats the glue your using?

    • @gashopperinc
      @gashopperinc  3 месяца назад

      For PVC Z7096 or Hypalon Z7098. Stabond UK-148 can be used for either. But make sure to use a 2 part glue either way.

    what grit sand paper do you use gashopper

    • @gashopperinc
      @gashopperinc  Год назад

      Depending on what needs to sanded, but generally 80 or 120 grit is sufficient for whatever prep is needed. Just have to be a little more careful with the 80 grit.

    Hey Man Great channel !!!
    I have a question ON what glue do you recommend to use to re glue PVC to a fiberglass hard bottom dinghy ?? its a West marine PVC Rib 310 Model .. I bought it used and LOl its a mess Im going to have to glue both seems inside and outside ...
    I’ve never glued up a inflatable boat before lol
    Im very good with Fiberglass work on Boston whalers .. but never messed with these boats lol
    Ive been watching a lot of your videos to get an idea and I’m starting to feel much better with this project lol ...
    I don’t know what it would cost for a professional like your self to do this job ... I’m really tight on free time at the moment but a little bit after work might do it saving the weekend to start the glueing ..
    are you located in MASS by any change lol

      Great question, Zodiac Z7096 for PVC Fabric is what you'll need. Can also use Stabond UK-148 Glue for that process. Just take your time and do small sections at a time, and you'll have great success.
      Make sure you fit the tubes inflated on the hull to get everything lined up before doing any Glue application. Start at the front to make sure it's snug and work your way back.
      We're located in Manitoba Canada. No other locations at this time. But maybe in the future. If you wanted to send it this way, we'd love to help you out. If you need assistance, contact us directly, and we'd be more than happy to guide you.
