God, if there was a way to mod this game (make the multiplayer gamemodes more robust, have team colors from the campaign and just make tank wars last MUCh longer than three minutes with gamemode customization cuz i wanna go an hour straight of tankwars), or give it the sequel it deserved to get out of that campy cliffhanger, this series would be complete. It's the best arcade vehicle combat game i EVER played and I can imagine World of Tanks having an arcade mode that feels like this gameplay-feel-wise.

THANK YOU!!! I've mentioned the world of tanks arcade mode to my friends before, and everyone looks at me like I'm stupid 🤣. I'm glad someone else sees it! This game feels sooooo good and has aged beautifully.

I'm sure at this point a quality of life Rom hack could be done for the N64 version, but unfortunately it hasn't been done. There is 3rd game in the game's universe for the PS1 and PS2 called World Destruction League: Thunder Tanks, it's a decent arena vehicle combat game.

I've never really gotten into the ps1 version, always n64, its what I grew up on. I still have fond memories of it and still enjoy playing it to this day, most campaign as I never have anyone to play with.
I'll have to try the ps1 version and give it a fair shot. If there is more content in it and having two sticks to move and turn separately thats great. I do wish they' remake this game or something similar. I've always searched and never quite found something that captured the entirety of what this game was. The setting, the combat, the variety of tanks, the campaign, everything was just great. I miss 3DO honestly. They had some good shit.

Yeah the n64 version is an absolute classic tbh, severely underrated and overlooked. I sorta just quickly glossed over the ps1 version for this video since it wasn't the focus, but I'll have to dive back into it sometime. Back when cross platform games were pretty different from one another lol. Thanks for watching!

There's alternate uses but it's dependent on your ammo as well. Grenades can be turned into giant grenades, teleporter will teleport you multiple times like something from dragon Ball z, small buddy guns I think they are called can be turned into Giant buddy/ turrets. I don't think the game ever tells you this.

Teleporter for Global Assault, the super Teleports the enemies by chasing them and when in contact with that portal will TP them off the map for a few seconds then TPs them back in a random location.

I remember renting this for the N64 and my best friend and I playing the split screen a bunch, and sometimes we'd go around hoarding nukes and at random one of us would yell "atomic picnic!" and we'd just spam em all into the middle of the map lol

Oh man, this game, this freaking game man. So a few months ago I was hit with a nostalgia bomb for a tank game i played with a few friends in elementary school. As It was my friends game, I didn't own it, so I had no idea what the name was, and I was unsure if it was a N64 or SNES game. Shockingly googling "N64 Tank Game," doesn't show much.
But man, so many memories playing this and Perfect Dark with school friends in the 90's.
Tank Wars was such a fun mode. Great times. Thanks for uploading this, so I could stop looking for the game.

I am glad to see someone on the internet talk about this game. BT:GA is genuinely one of my favorite multiplayer games ever and a crowd favorite whenever I bring my N64 to events. One of the best aspects (and most unexpected) of this game is the game feel. In an era where even fan favorites felt like sloths moving through quick sand (try playing Goldeneye in 2023) the tanks all feel buttery smooth, and even smaller aspects like the sheer impact of from firing. It's a miracle the game feels as good as it does now with the growing pains every other series was going through. I seriously hope we get a rerelease or even a remaster someday. Any improvements (like dual stick functionality) would be appreciated but BT:GA is solid enough to work nowadays. (outside of that delightfully 90s story LOL)

Speaking of, did you know that if you went into the settings and changed the controls to arcade, the tank would control like the one from Global assault? And the code LTSLTSGNGS would let you choose a faction in the campaign? You could play the campaign as the nuclear knights. Trivialize the entire campaign.

As a long-time BattleTanx player, I've honestly found myself disliking the PS1 version a lot. It feels slower, the graphics (as a PS1 title in general) have not stood the test of time, especially with the cheap feel of the fire effects, and as you mentioned, the view and frame rate isn't very good. The Nintendo 64 version will remain my favorite. But.. have you ever tried the Gameboy version? xd
