But then how can the world go to shit if the military is acting competently? A) Have politicians be morons B) Have the Zombie Plague coincide with a major nuclear terror attack so that the nation is devastated C) Show the film taking place in an area where the virus has hit hard and allude to the military continuing to fight outside of urban areas. D) Or all of the above
Because the concept of zombies being able to overcome modern weapons is so laughably absurd that they have to add a healthy dose of incompetence for the plot to happen, I mean look what happens every time the main character gets ahold of a machine gun, they turn into a zombie-killing Rambo more often than not

I love how the daughter looks in the poster so confident and proud. When you see a woman like that in a poster movie you could immediately deduced she is a selfish and rude person who always managed to win or survive

Tig Notaro’s character was originally played by Chris Delia. They shot the entire movie with him in it. When his sexual assault allegation came out, the production distanced themselves and literally edited him out of the movie. Notaro is legit green screened over him in certain scenes.

Fun fact: Tig's character was originally played by actor Chris D'elia. His scenes were removed after he was accused of sexual misconduct. That's why Tig's almost entire performance was done solo, as all her scenes were reshoots. What few bits show her with others in the cast was done with CG inserts.
Imagine if they kill the Alpha at the start and all hell breaks loose, because it turns out, he was the only thing keeping the Zombies somewhat in check, like the Lich King in WoW.
That already sounds like a much more interesting film. Very sad that Snyder had to have his grubby hands in directing and writing, otherwise we could have had something nice like what you came up with.
Although that does sound nice. It doesn't sound doable to me with the established rules of the universe. You would need a great screenwriter to pull that off. If they kill the alpha and all hell does break loose. It would not be understood as to why. We wouldn't have enough time to get to that reason
They will still claim it is a master piece no matter how terrible the movie it. They did the same thing with the theatrical version of BvS and it was not until the announcment of the ultimate edition that they started saying that there are problems with the theatrical version
It was made for streaming service specifically. All movies made for streaming services has this kind of low quality. It is obvious he made it just to got some money to invest them into something better
That's exactly what I thought from the moment i saw the helicopter model figure.I mean...there's no way all these people and all these bags could ever possibly fit in this tiny helicopter.
The moment I saw the truck transporting the ultra "zombie" get desintegrated when crashing with a car and the two soldiers not using the perfectly safe humvee to escape, I knew this movie was going to be a total trainwrreck

The moment the leed humvee swerved away from the car and let it hit the protected truck you know movie is a convoluted crap. First thing the lead car vehicle has to do is to protect the main vehicle of the convoy. I stopped watching there to be honest.
I like that all the mercenaries use different guns and different calibers. In a realistic sort of take, seems like it would be a good idea for them to use similar guns and the same calibers so they can share ammunition, or have a team member as the big dude loaded down with all the excess ammo.

The thing is he allowed her time grow up a petulant child since he spend those years dwelling on himself and what he had to do. So she grew up none of the life skills he possesses or the critical thinking ones which tends to lead to either despair and I’ll do whatever I want (or have to) all the time or a savior complex to help everyone even though I lack pretty much any skill to do so and will likely harm others in the process of learning even the most basic things
Due to that situation the time constraints and knowledge of her character the best thing is incapacite or restraint her to avoid her harming herself or others until he got back.
But nope...if she'd have done that...she wouldn't be the strong independent woman that movies have to have. Better to make her the selfish, dangerous moron who gets everyone killed character...yay waaamen!

The "zombies" are alive with a virus so its safe to assume that if someone would have sex with the infected could in fact get pregnant. There are different types of zombies, like the rotting corpses that rise from the grave in older movies. What really ticked me off was when the girl with the bandana dies I mean she jumps through that window behind everyone, she's still alive, hasn't been bit yet but she's fighting off the zombies and everyone's just like "eh not worth it" and walks off and then we get this drawn out dramatic scene like tf literally she could've been saved but for the sake of creating a sad emotional loss they killed her in the dumbest way possible.
I mean there are earlier signs, for example when the car crashes against the military truck at the begining I had to pause and said "wtf that car must've been loaded with nitro".
Yeah, she should’ve been a manly they/them instead, right? But then you probably would’ve just complained about that also, so maybe just stfu and enjoy the movie for what it is?

Early in the movie it does say that the U.S military took heavy casualties, most likely due to them guarding the walls construction and dying while fighting the zombies. Though who the fuck was the dumb ass that thought sending in paratroopers was a good idea? Because yeah a slow descent into open areas with zombies was such a good idea.

If like D-Day, you know the numbers and you know the Americans won. Unless you like history a lot to go into the details (like my father) then know the time/place/who died when,where, and why, it doesn't matter
To be fair on this point it is Las Vegas in the middle of the desert where temperatures without armor can be fatal. I didn't have much problem with that part considering the setting
Well why would they? We see the alpha bite through the layers of gear the MC was wearing and infect him, but yes, you’d think that they would have some level of anti-shambler armor like leather, can’t do much against the smarter alphas

@@satsubatsu347 it 100% is, if you haven't seen how those troops prepare for combat in those environments then you should look it up. It's fking brutal. But you're comparing highly trained and equipped soldiers facing long range ordinance to a group of civilians expecting to face unarmed shamblers. There's plenty to pick apart about this movie but the costumes are the least of them.
This film felt like it was adapted from a mediocre comic book. None of the characters behaved like normal people and the plot was as holey as a slice of fine Swiss cheese. I barely managed to sit through it and only by completely switching off all critical thought.

Also why was the trailer more colorful than what we actually got? Like come on for movie set in Las Vegas it certainly doesn't take any advantage of its location.
Snyder is simply demonstrating that zombie movies are tired and overdone. They’re basically cringe now, relying on gratuitous violence as a well-worn crutch. It was interesting when zombie media, like Dawn of the Dead or Walking Dead, had actual substance like thought-provoking commentary on matters including consumer culture and tribalism. Now zombie media is stupid. Cheap thrills for the masses. But it gets views, so it gets pumped out ad nauseum. Yawn. Soulless and an insult to the viewer.
One of my biggest irritations of the movie was zombie animals. As soon as that happens there's no quarantine that could possibly be effective. As soon as it hits rats and birds then there is no chance of containing the infection in one location, especially when there is a massive camp of people just outside the wall of the zone.
@@JadeRunner Just because someone doesn't understand the implications of their decisions and doesn't include them in their story, it doesn't make those decisions good. It makes them poor decisions and shows gaps in the knowledge of the writer.
You forgot about the most important part, that this whole trip had only one goal: Head of this zombie Alpha. So they could cut the bullshit and end movie after 45 min.

When he said they needed a safe cracker to get into the vault I thought the twist was going to be that it wasn’t actually Japanese guy’s vault and he just convinced them to steal for him. Seemed obvious to me, but I guess he just forgot his passcode..?
No one is talking about the truly frightening element to this movie... the fact that they are now able to digitally remove actors from movies and replace them. Like they did with the one guy and substituting him with the thespian "comedian"... I could care less about that guy's whatever that got him kicked out of the movie, but wait til they start going back and removing "problematic" classic actors from films. Mel Gibson will just disappear from all the Mad Max movies now and be replaced by Seth Rogen.

He owed Zach an I don't think he came off looking bad in this. He showed emotional range as a broken man with sad dreams of a future being rebuilt that he had to kill.
LMAO that was the first thing I thought too... "Hey we have this literal zombie outbreak contained, time to nuke it to sanitize the place, oh wait let's wait a few days and risk it spreading via the super smart advanced zombies or dumbasses sneaking in/out." Lmao
Funnily enough that was the reason why they didn't nuke the place. There was a news report earlier in the movie that the nuke was originally scheduled to drop on July 4th because it's the best day to celebrate wiping out the zombies of all days. Of course common sense started to kick in and the government decided to nuke the place ahead of schedule.
Hell in Avengers 1 and Batman vs Superman they only decided to nuke a city like less than an hour after the fight went down with little time to see the situation. Even the Resident Evil Apocalypse government nuked Racoon city less than 24 hours after the virus hit.
To be fair, Aliens has three disposable Marine characters in it (Crowe, Dietrich and Wierzbowski), two of the played by stuntmen rather than actors. But it did a good job of investing you in the others by featuring six of them up front and making them all seem like real people. You had the Three That Survive the Hive (Hudson, Hicks and Vasquez) and the Three That Die to Raise The Stakes (Drake, Apone and Frost). And Cameron was careful to make sure none of those six got any more screen time than the others before the hive scene, so that the audience could get to know and like them. So when Frost gets the old napalm bath, and Drake gets a face full of acid, it matters to you.
For Me that was A Classic Film n a Perfect way to End the Alien saga! Also the Aliens references, ripp off was Badly executed! Gutted coz I thought this was gonna Be a good film! How Wrong was I.
But notice. You know who Crowe, Deitrich and Wierzbowski are. Snyder's characters are so forgettable we can't even remember Dave Bautista's character's name.

@@whosaidthat84 Haven't seen the movie yet. Sounds like some hack writing. Not a talented screenwriter myself, so if budget allows for shooting a couple of short films, I'll hand over my humble ideas to someone who can come up with a decent screenplay.
@@truefilm6991 as you probably guessed, you're not missing a whole lot. I'm an aspiring writer myself but I learned long ago that you need to invest everything into your current project. I used to force in all these little nuggets and clues that would set up future stories but if those aren't done right, they quickly become distractions. I tried to shut my brain off for this movie but it just didn't work.
@@whosaidthat84 just so you know, I'm a lifelong film buff, shot a lot of stuff over the years and I am mainly a cinematographer (guy that runs around with a fancy vintage film camera and does the editing) and a director, actually coming from music production. So I'm fine with bouncing off ideas with people who know how to write. Too much cheesy CGI nowadays and for the last 20 years. Currently watching some Bergmann. Great faces, great acting, themes and screenplays, great images, there's a good movie.
The focus issue must be what happens when you let Zack Snyder be his own cinematographer. You really have to pair him up with someone like Larry Fong, as in 300 and Watchmen, to properly execute the "Snyder" visual style.
I learned from the RLM review that the shitty focus was on purpose. he actually went to some kind of camera graveyard and found 2 cameras with dead pixels and a set of ultra fish eye lenses.
Thought about starting a drinking game where we'd take a shot for every plothole and inconsistency but we'd be dead from alcohol poisoning within the first 25 minutes.
I think I had the ultimate confirmation was when they set up an abandoned Huey helicopter to ferry out: 1. $500 MILLION 2. The team itself Uhm, NO. There's barely enough room for HALF the team, and they're going to haul out about 20-40 duffel bags worth of cash? It's like they expected maybe two or three to survive... ...okay, in that context, it makes more sense, but you'd think Bautista's pilot would ask, "Uhm, WTF?"
I swear to god, I GMed this game using Gurps. I set it up to my RP group like this, Casino Heist during a zombie outbreak. I even had zombie tiger from Siegfried and Roy. PLUS a bunch of lions from the MGM.
the whole movie wasnt nonsense though. there was that one part where a dude figured that the whole mission was fucking stupid and suicidal and instead chose to leave.

There were 12 Marines that landed on LV-426. Without looking them up, name the Marines. Guess which ones die first.
@@thabreez456 I’m sure, but he was the main writer in this one, and I would imagine that regardless of whether he is or not, it’s only really apparent when it’s not one of his DCEU movies.
He is not the only one to blame here: Zack also co-wrote Justice League and 300, which had pretty decent scripts. This one, on the other hand, was also co-written by Joby Harold. And it is rarely a good sign when blockbuster-producers from controversial studios (like Simon Kinberg, who wrote several VERY shitty superhero scripts) get a hand in writing them.
Writer Room: We don't have a title for the movie. Finance People: Why did we hire this Army of the Dead to write this movie? Writer Room: We have a title.
Wait, you mean to tell me that the "strong independent woman" daughter character, who had no business being involved in the operation but insisted on going anyways despite several valid arguments against it, ended up being utterly useless and ended up getting basically the entire cast killed, and causing the operation to fail, yet is the only one who ended up coming out of it with any benefit? Is Snyder secretly a genius and he's just trying to elude to real life...
If anything, that character trope was only a wee bit refreshing. Prior to the current era of SJW, this was the most common portrayal of women in science fiction and horror movies going back to the early days of cinema.
Snyder more than likely was not in control of the film. Editing and special effects is were modern films are decided and it is unlikely that he had control of that section of the process. Casting was probably not down to him and he would have nothing to do with the script rewrites.

We motion captured the zombie armies in about a day. During the shoot at ABQ I looked in Zack Snyder's office and he was doing detailed storyboards. They were incredible and exciting, like Miyazaki-level boards. We all just knew this movie would be awesome. Now I don't feel like risking two hours to find out. I wonder what forces were at work undermining this movie. Seems like a lot of them.
The main forces undermining this film were primarily Snyder's inability to tightly develop a story and his complete lack of restraint when it comes to editing. As TCD mentioned, the run time is ungodly long for a film of this type. Snyder cared more about shoehorning in as many Easter eggs as possible to create some sort of franchise instead of making the audience care about THIS film.
This movie is probably one of the most densely packed compilation of everything that's wrong about the cinema from the last 15 years. Everything is incoherent and absurd. Characters are idiots, have theatrical attitudes (posers) far detached from the context of the film, or are simply there for identity or gender politics (one latino check, girl that look like man check, girl that disobeys and endangers team, check, white traitor with sunglasses check etc...). By the way, wouldn't you be scared to set foot in that kind of city, in the middle of those creatures ? I would. The people in the Dawn of the Dead remake were (very) afraid, and for good reason. And the atmosphere of total terror and despair in movies like Day of the Dead, Savini's Night of the Living Dead from 1990 or the original Dawn of the Dead is so sick you could slice it with a knife. What we have here is the first disco-zombie movie, where fancy boys, brainless bodybuilders and annoying girls all come to party in the middle of a neon lit arena filled with dry running-dancing bio-mutants that explode with digital blood. All that in an almost giggly vibe...I think George Romero turned around several times in his grave (I don't forgive Survival of the Dead but the other movies are legend)... And the last funny thing : considering the amount of clean up the small group of unprepared characters did in the movie, I can't figure out why a complete army wouldn't deal with that in 2 days without breaking a sweat...
What military goes with a fully containable, low casualty, incursion when NUKE VEGAS! I GOT A BONER, DO YOU GOTTA BONER BRO!? Sure, what is one more atomic bomb being dropped on Vegas going to do that hundreds haven't done already?
Savini's Living Dead is awesome, my favorite of all the versions of the movie. Snyder's Dawn of the Dead was one of the first zombie movies I ever saw so I'm biased a bit, I think it's pretty good. Odd to see Phil Dunphy as a douchebag tho.
This movie make me realize 2 things: 1-Snyder's crazy ass ideas doesn't work without a competent writter 2-We will never have a legit sequel for the Dawn of the Dead remake
The movie started annoying me when the habitable part of Las Vegas was almost a wasteland, but still somebody opened her mouth and said the government was concerned with targeting and killing abortion and LGBT advocates.
You right actually, i used to think “zack synder this will be cool” no i think zack snyder “eh ill get to it when i get to it, sure im not really missing anything”
The drinker must've really wanted to get this review over with. He literally just jumped from the the first encounter with the alpha to the end, skipping over the part where the suspicious guy kills someone in a room right next to the rest of the crew and no one notices and also the part where the daughter tries to track down her friend after the chopper flight time changes from 1 day to 1 hour. Or the plot where the vault owner lied to them about what they were there to steal. I don't blame him for skipping 90% of a terrible movie but I'm just impressed by how much more there was to rail on that was not mentioned. I guess the stuff he did mention trumped everything else.
No lie. You could spend 3 hours going over all the way this movie sucked balls, and still have plenty left for a 'snyder cut'! Garbage like this won't even become a cult classic.
Why go through all of that when its essentially the same thing? Lots of good ideas throw into the trash and not giving a damn about them later in the movie, the characters show no interesting traits and add nothing to the plot besides been zombie's food, all the plans and ideas are just stupid decisions like this was Prometheus or something like that.
when i was a kid, TVs still had knobs and we’d entertain ourselves by adjusting the color settings to extremes of wrongness. i hadn’t thought of those good times in years until seeing the palette of this film, so thanks, zack!
When I saw Bautisata as the lead actor, and a bunch of other no name actors I knew it was going to be bad. This is a movie worthy for the SyFy channel.
@@DarkPassenger 90% of the good indie movies that come out each year use fairly unknown actors and most are better, and include better acting, than most Hollywood blockbusters. Anyway, the main actors in this film were fairly well known, just cause you hadn't heard of them, doesn't mean they were unknown. And regarding Bautista, the main problem with Army of the Dead was the writing, he was very good imo.
for me the winner catchphrase of the day is "it is written in a way that does not make you want to shove two pencils in your nose and head-but the table!" Priceless! :)
I would've liked a movie focused around how the zombie's went from shamblers to an actual society; that intrigued me. And I wanted to see more zombie tiger. Like, he should've been a major component of the story that the team needed to kill.

I get tired of repeatedly pointing out that 'Watchmen', '300', and even 'Dawn of the Dead' are technically not stories "created by" Snyder. He took existing material that was already great - and in the case of Watchmen and 300 - literally made movies that were frame-for-frame exactly what was in the original graphic novels (panel-per-panel). And with Dawn - every bit of dark humor and wit was from a script by James Gunn. If Snyder had written the script for Dawn - it would have ended up like Army: a non-sensical mess.

But then how can the world go to shit if the military is acting competently?

B) Have the Zombie Plague coincide with a major nuclear terror attack so that the nation is devastated

The moment the leed humvee swerved away from the car and let it hit the protected truck you know movie is a convoluted crap. First thing the lead car vehicle has to do is to protect the main vehicle of the convoy. I stopped watching there to be honest.
I like that all the mercenaries use different guns and different calibers. In a realistic sort of take, seems like it would be a good idea for them to use similar guns and the same calibers so they can share ammunition, or have a team member as the big dude loaded down with all the excess ammo.
What also pisses me off about this movie is the “giant saw guy” never uses his goddamn saw

Due to that situation the time constraints and knowledge of her character the best thing is incapacite or restraint her to avoid her harming herself or others until he got back.

Early in the movie it does say that the U.S military took heavy casualties, most likely due to them guarding the walls construction and dying while fighting the zombies. This film felt like it was adapted from a mediocre comic book. None of the characters behaved like normal people and the plot was as holey as a slice of fine Swiss cheese. I barely managed to sit through it and only by completely switching off all critical thought.

Snyder is simply demonstrating that zombie movies are tired and overdone. They’re basically cringe now, relying on gratuitous violence as a well-worn crutch. It was interesting when zombie media, like Dawn of the Dead or Walking Dead, had actual substance like thought-provoking commentary on matters including consumer culture and tribalism.
Now zombie media is stupid. Cheap thrills for the masses. But it gets views, so it gets pumped out ad nauseum. Yawn. Soulless and an insult to the viewer.

One of my biggest irritations of the movie was zombie animals. As soon as that happens there's no quarantine that could possibly be effective. As soon as it hits rats and birds then there is no chance of containing the infection in one location, especially when there is a massive camp of people just outside the wall of the zone.

No one is talking about the truly frightening element to this movie... the fact that they are now able to digitally remove actors from movies and replace them. Like they did with the one guy and substituting him with the thespian "comedian"... Mel Gibson will just disappear from all the Mad Max movies now and be replaced by Seth Rogen.

I liked Dave Bautista in Blade Runner 2049. I think he should take more roles like that, even if it's just to see if he can do it.

Funnily enough that was the reason why they didn't nuke the place. There was a news report earlier in the movie that the nuke was originally scheduled to drop on July 4th because it's the best day to celebrate wiping out the zombies of all days. Of course common sense started to kick in and the government decided to nuke the place ahead of schedule.

Hell in Avengers 1 and Batman vs Superman they only decided to nuke a city like less than an hour after the fight went down with little time to see the situation. Even the Resident Evil Apocalypse government nuked Racoon city less than 24 hours after the virus hit.
To be fair, Aliens has three disposable Marine characters in it (Crowe, Dietrich and Wierzbowski), two of the played by stuntmen rather than actors. But it did a good job of investing you in the others by featuring six of them up front and making them all seem like real people. You had the Three That Survive the Hive (Hudson, Hicks and Vasquez) and the Three That Die to Raise The Stakes (Drake, Apone and Frost). And Cameron was careful to make sure none of those six got any more screen time than the others before the hive scene, so that the audience could get to know and like them. So when Frost gets the old napalm bath, and Drake gets a face full of acid, it matters to you.
For Me that was A Classic Film n a Perfect way to End the Alien saga! Also the Aliens references, ripp off was Badly executed! Gutted coz I thought this was gonna Be a good film! How Wrong was I.
But notice. You know who Crowe, Deitrich and Wierzbowski are. Snyder's characters are so forgettable we can't even remember Dave Bautista's character's name.

I used to force in all these little nuggets and clues that would set up future stories but if those aren't done right, they quickly become distractions. I tried to shut my brain off for this movie but it just didn't work.
@@whosaidthat84 just so you know, I'm a lifelong film buff, shot a lot of stuff over the years and I am mainly a cinematographer (guy that runs around with a fancy vintage film camera and does the editing) and a director, actually coming from music production. So I'm fine with bouncing off ideas with people who know how to write. Too much cheesy CGI nowadays and for the last 20 years. Currently watching some Bergmann. Great faces, great acting, themes and screenplays, great images, there's a good movie.
The focus issue must be what happens when you let Zack Snyder be his own cinematographer. You really have to pair him up with someone like Larry Fong, as in 300 and Watchmen, to properly execute the "Snyder" visual style.

I swear to god, I GMed this game using Gurps. I set it up to my RP group like this, Casino Heist during a zombie outbreak. I even had zombie tiger from Siegfried and Roy. PLUS a bunch of lions from the MGM.

He is not the only one to blame here: Zack also co-wrote Justice League and 300, which had pretty decent scripts. This one, on the other hand, was also co-written by Joby Harold. And it is rarely a good sign when blockbuster-producers from controversial studios (like Simon Kinberg, who wrote several VERY shitty superhero scripts) get a hand in writing them.

If anything, that character trope was only a wee bit refreshing. Prior to the current era of SJW, this was the most common portrayal of women in science fiction and horror movies going back to the early days of cinema.
Snyder more than likely was not in control of the film. Editing and special effects is were modern films are decided and it is unlikely that he had control of that section of the process. Casting was probably not down to him and he would have nothing to do with the script rewrites.

We motion captured the zombie armies in about a day. During the shoot at ABQ I looked in Zack Snyder's office and he was doing detailed storyboards. They were incredible and exciting, like Miyazaki-level boards. We all just knew this movie would be awesome. Now I don't feel like risking two hours to find out. I wonder what forces were at work undermining this movie. Seems like a lot of them.

The main forces undermining this film were primarily Snyder's inability to tightly develop a story and his complete lack of restraint when it comes to editing. As TCD mentioned, the run time is ungodly long for a film of this type. Snyder cared more about shoehorning in as many Easter eggs as possible to create some sort of franchise instead of making the audience care about THIS film.

This movie is probably one of the most densely packed compilation of everything that's wrong about the cinema from the last 15 years. Everything is incoherent and absurd. Characters are idiots, have theatrical attitudes (posers) far detached from the context of the film, or are simply there for identity or gender politics (one latino check, girl that look like man check, girl that disobeys and endangers team, check, white traitor with sunglasses check etc...).
By the way, wouldn't you be scared to set foot in that kind of city, in the middle of those creatures ? I would. The people in the Dawn of the Dead remake were (very) afraid, and for good reason. And the atmosphere of total terror and despair in movies like Day of the Dead, Savini's Night of the Living Dead from 1990 or the original Dawn of the Dead is so sick you could slice it with a knife.
What we have here is the first disco-zombie movie, where fancy boys, brainless bodybuilders and annoying girls all come to party in the middle of a neon lit arena filled with dry running-dancing bio-mutants that explode with digital blood. All that in an almost giggly vibe...I think George Romero turned around several times in his grave (I don't forgive Survival of the Dead but the other movies are legend)...
And the last funny thing : considering the amount of clean up the small group of unprepared characters did in the movie, I can't figure out why a complete army wouldn't deal with that in 2 days without breaking a sweat...

Savini's Living Dead is awesome, my favorite of all the versions of the movie. Snyder's Dawn of the Dead was one of the first zombie movies I ever saw so I'm biased a bit, I think it's pretty good. Odd to see Phil Dunphy as a douchebag tho.

To be fair, dawn of the dead remake ended pretty conclusively. They found the island, the zombies were there and they presumably all died.

The drinker must've really wanted to get this review over with. He literally just jumped from the the first encounter with the alpha to the end, skipping over the part where the suspicious guy kills someone in a room right next to the rest of the crew and no one notices and also the part where the daughter tries to track down her friend after the chopper flight time changes from 1 day to 1 hour. Or the plot where the vault owner lied to them about what they were there to steal. I don't blame him for skipping 90% of a terrible movie but I'm just impressed by how much more there was to rail on that was not mentioned. I guess the stuff he did mention trumped everything else.
No lie. You could spend 3 hours going over all the way this movie sucked balls, and still have plenty left for a 'snyder cut'! Garbage like this won't even become a cult classic.

Why go through all of that when its essentially the same thing? Lots of good ideas throw into the trash and not giving a damn about them later in the movie, the characters show no interesting traits and add nothing to the plot besides been zombie's food, all the plans and ideas are just stupid decisions like this was Prometheus or something like that.

when i was a kid, TVs still had knobs and we’d entertain ourselves by adjusting the color settings to extremes of wrongness. i hadn’t thought of those good times in years until seeing the palette of this film, so thanks, zack!

Good old tube tvs that weighed a thousand lbs. Nowadays you have to jump hoops to adjust anything. Rather assbackwards, that. Killed all the fun, lol.
I work in one of the locations that they shot this film at. The dilapidated appearance of those shots are actually 100% how it looks even to this day.
This movie has the same energy as a lazy Resident Evil Multiplayer Game.
And the concept explained by the drinker is basically the same as fallout new Vegas without the interesting retro futuristic aesthetic

Anyway, the main actors in this film were fairly well known, just cause you hadn't heard of them, doesn't mean they were unknown.
And regarding Bautista, the main problem with Army of the Dead was the writing, he was very good imo.

I would've liked a movie focused around how the zombie's went from shamblers to an actual society; that intrigued me. And I wanted to see more zombie tiger. Like, he should've been a major component of the story that the team needed to kill.

I get tired of repeatedly pointing out that 'Watchmen', '300', and even 'Dawn of the Dead' are technically not stories "created by" Snyder. He took existing material that was already great - and in the case of Watchmen and 300 - literally made movies that were frame-for-frame exactly what was in the original graphic novels (panel-per-panel). And with Dawn - every bit of dark humor and wit was from a script by James Gunn. If Snyder had written the script for Dawn - it would have ended up like Army: a non-sensical mess.
