Hi everyone, thanks for watching our episode! It's part one of a two-parter on the magnificent Phantom Menace. Let us know your thoughts on the film, its place in VFX history, and your memories of seeing the film back in '99! - Ian
43:19 I have no clue, but it could have been some sort of sattelite link. Like live newscasters/reporters in the field. It might not have used the internet at all, in fact I'd probably guess that it didn't.
The film was fun. It was Episode 2 when that moment where C3P0 turned into a toy cartoon and fell off a cliff in that factory scene I was like, "oh no, what is this?".
Actually, the first DVD of The Phantom Menace does not contain the theatrical version. Especially obvious during the podracing sequence there are a lot of added shots of racer introductions and even parts of the race that were NOT in the theatrical version of TPM. You can easily tell because of the VFX which are lower in quality and resolution. I think only the VHS has the closest version to the theatrical release. Lovely podcast, btw!
