The worst tour in the history of The Lions. Awful provisional matches against teams thrown together, a South Africa A game where both teams dipped their hands in soap before the- match, and 3 dreadful tests. Truly a forgettable series. 1997 and 2009 were legendary tours.

@@sakabula2357I think that’s what really sapped any interest or joy from this series. As a lions supporter it could be argued that the result was why it was forgettable but the 2009 series which we also lost is very memorable. Covid made this feel like a warm up tour but nonetheless South Africa were deserved winners.
@Gramscifreedom yes it was a terrible time and everyone was down during covid..I'm just an armchair critic but I would have postponed the Lions series..but that's looking in hindsight..the 2009 series gave me such memories..I was at Loftus that night..the emotional roller couster that night was unbelievable and it's something I will never forget...and if one day I can get a girl interested in me I will tell my grandchildren about..The Lions supporters were gutted but so gracious in defeat..met a Irish fan that night who I still talk to twice a week at least..Best luck to the Lions team..a legacy I will always admire and respect..Go Bokke..Go Lions.
@@sakabula2357 Thanks for your passionate reply! That 2009 Test Series was one of the greatest test series I have ever seen. The second test in particular was just awesome. South Africa have always been very gracious in both defeat and victory. For anyone at the game you mentioned, they were privileged to have seen something truly special. I think the last series proven that sport without fans is nothing at all. I read an article from a former Irish international who said too much money had already been paid by TV companies for there to be any chance of that series being cancelled. I'll be an old man and retired in 2045, but if I am still alive and there's still a Lion Series - I'll be there! I am going to blow all my retirement fund on rugby. Stuff the Grandkids!
For god's sake, how the hell are you supposed to watch this stuff when that bloody music is going on in the background and is louder than most of the commentary
