She walks onto the stage looking like she is unsure of where she is. Perhaps it is because Bach is sitting right there as 1st violinist. But once she sits down, its pure Yuja Wang magic. Love the dress, too.

Only Yuja would pick this Prokofiev sonata movement as an encore. Not only the creativity of her choice, but she plays the "pants" off it.
She is definitely one of the best out there and she is playing more and more with orchestras all over the world.
Right now, she is the "queen of the piano." God bless this vivacious, brilliant, and gifted young lady!!!!!

@@vaxx2007 When I said "Only Yuja would pick this Prokofiev sonata movement as an encore", it was meant as a compliment, not criticism.
If you read the rest of my comment you would have known this.
Yuja is a unique pianist because she plays the obviously most difficult pieces in the literature and plays them as if they were easy.
As I said, "she is the "queen of the piano". Please read the comments to the end before you make your generalizations!!!

I love the way Wang is an unabashed entertainer with her sexy dresses. Why should the rockers have all the fun. People have this weird notion that classical music is this solemn religious rite: that's not how the composers conceived it. Its first about pleasure. She gives a lot of that to the audience, and you can always see the pleasure she takes in performing on her face. I don't really care if Richter with his grim face and meat hooks played it better 50 years ago. I'm glad that the ideal performer isn't Heifetz anymore: a guy who never missed a note and always looked like he was singing a trust deed.

    Wonderfull. Yuja Wang
    Tal qual furiosa aranha
    Mãos ágeis
    abatem, certeiras
    as alvas teclas
    daquele piano.
