You will have a better imprint from the onion, if you let it dry out a bit first. the rings will show up better. have you tried Masa paper? you crinkle it and use water color, or perhaps very diluted acrylic, If you crumple, crinkle the paper, it breaks the sizing, and looks like batik when dry (( I have used watercolor with great results, but not applied thinned acrylic)) but if you use transparent colors will look beautiful and I will have to try the banana pepper, first to roll it like you did the corn, whole, uncut, the make different cuts for sizes. This cracks me up, for as soon as I hit comment, I think of more ideas. LOL Cut the corn off of the cob, let the cob partially or near completely dry out, then try for that print. woo hoo

I was immediately encouraged to sacrifice some fruits and veggies right after your video. My best results were from lemons and broccoli; the latter makes marvelous, irregular dots.

@@catrains.artist I’ve started to look at everything to see what kind of print it could create! Ha. Lately I’ve been attracted to patterns on placemats - their patterns work great with and without using a Gelli plate. They give me a really nice overall pattern. The fruits and veggies would give me a nice contrasting pattern! My list of types of papers to make keeps growing! Thanks for continually inspiring me and encouraging me to play like I’m a kid again. 😊

That was a fun video. Thanks! I have an idea: if you put your paper on top of a couple paper towels or on a gel plate when you print you might get more even prints even when the veg is not cut perfectly - there would be more "give" in your surface.

I thought I'd better try what I suggested, so I sliced an onion in several different places, and let it "dry" out HA ha! almost turned to mush, but I did get a few (half page) good impreints, I found the apple boring *LOL* The corn, I took a corncob and let it dry, not to bad, interesting marks. I thought well break it in half maybe get a floral/sunflower print, but it is hard to slice evenly. and the paint needs to be thicker? Maybe mix with some gel medium. I've got a whole corn out to dry out, I had nothing but a mess with the lemon. *LOL* Now just waiting for stuff to dry. I forgot to get the pepper. I liked that one you did. not so sure I want to mess with wet or dry corn silks.

Thank you for the inspiration. I'm always fascinated with your creativity, but now I have a concern: What happens with the prints after time? Would the organic quality of the things used to print end in decay of the paper?

    • @catrains.artist
