Maybe try placing the words you want to emphasise * inside a pair of asterisks * or something similar, even if it won't make the letters bold/italicised *like this*. I know asterisks can be used like that during roleplay over text, but I'd like to think there would be enough logic to know when it is or is not for roleplaying or something like that.
