It’s an amazing example of show don’t tell that I personally love to death.

@@izendale I loved that level cause the whole time that Sarah is trying to contact you over the coms Cooper doesn't even try to respond. I like to imagine he's just too fuming with rage to focus on anything other than getting to Slone and Blisk to have revenge.
Truly the hidden gem of 2016. Had quite a lot going against it, and still does, being that EA decided to sandwich it's release between their own game(BF1) and Infinite Warfare. Seriously don't know why they chose to do this, but it nearly jeopardized the entire release of the game.
Allan Costa they wanted BF to suceed, and didn't wanted TF to gain too much playerbase, as respawn can and will free itself from EA if they have enough funds
Allan Costa titanfall is their IP, EA don't own it, partnership wiht respawn was just so they could build 2 games to sink one, so if one failed (lets say, BF failled for some wierd reason), the other would suceed. a bad jugment from them was that EA thought they could streal IW playerbase before COD was out. it was a terrible mistake as COD buyers are not the most aware buyers on this planet. if only they had waited 2 weeks for the popularity of COD to drop bellow farming simulator 2K17, they would have broke reccords. the problem is that the previous game was popular but very short lived, this one is realy good but customers are now realy cautious about the game. even if all critics praise this game, they will still go the easy way and buy MWR, even if it means buying a realy bad and overpriced game in the process.
I agree with your point. EAs thought behind this was most likely to get a direct rival for CoD in their hands. Seeing that titanfalls multiplayer gameplay is more fast past and especially pilot vs. pilot feels more CoD-ish than BF-ish. Though thinking that this year they even need a rival for IW was most likely their biggest fault. Instead they could have brought it out way earlier, drawing in those ppl being disappointed by the IW trailer and those who are still waiting for BF1s release. BF1 that way would have still sucked away alot of the playerbase, but this way there would have been a chance to get a stable playerbase thats bigger than now early on. Still the effort respawn put in and the end product we got here with its high quality may be good enough to stabilize the smaller-ish community it has right now and keep on growing especially with oncoming support and future updates being supposedly free.
I feel like this theory is more likely given recent information It honestly seems like they intentionally screwed Titanfall 2 over to force Respawn into selling out which is honestly sad. But if the company sticks to its values of free dlc and amazing content in its games with next product hopefully it won't turn into a Battlefront fiasco again.
Free dlc maps, weapons and new titans and pilots and purchasable cosmetics and camo...what more do real gamers want.. I'm getting this game with out hesitation.. thnx respawn and the TF2 community
The Geneva convention I know I was just joking. On the internet TF2 usually means team fortress 2. Hell if you google search TF2 team fortress pops up.
quality over quantity my friend always and i rather play a campaign that is 100% interesting than a campaign that have some shallow level inside, that will stop me to play it.
mansuy adrien ea didn’t really set a deadline. Respawn decided to go against cod and dice happened to have setbacks that pushed battlefield 1 to its present release date. Sucks how unlucky respawn was with the release
i know it could have had an even bigger following but to think that a "failed game" had 15 thousand players online a few days ago (on pc) makes you wonder what couldve been.
Why is your last name so badass? Feels like someone could write a series of books around you or start a franchise of movies. "Chronicles of Raycevick" or just simply, "Raycevick"
Its fine. The time manipulation level is cool but its pretty short and the mechanic was underused. The campaign is alright (some of its great; some of its just dull) but the people comparing it to Half-Life are high off their meds. The Titan fights were way too simple (beaten in around 30 seconds to a minute most of the time on hard difficulty), MOST of the gunfights themselves are pretty standard and never really force you to wall-run or do anything interesting (probably not as good as a lot of the earlier COD campaigns to be honest) and overall, it was just WAY too easy. That beings said, it delivered a few well-implemented ideas/concepts you wouldn't usually see in a standard FPS and its a good game.
@@BroodierLily296 I wasn't exaggerating. I think I still have footage of it on my PS4. I typically play games very aggressively. Kevin Boylan that is what the first boss said. Good memory. Also, I want to see the video of the bosses if you can. To be clear, I’m not a person that needs evidence for everything. something I loved this year is the renewed focus on level design, from the Cause and Effect level in Titanfall 2 to pretty much every level in Dishonored 2 (especially the clockwork mansion, Dust District and Crack in the Slab) it's been awesome to see

CoD is now the Chinese bootleg version of itself, Destiny, Titanfall, Halo, and whatever other popular FPS game is out. Almost all complains were adressed and titanfall 2 feels like, finaly, a fresh experience for a FPS. overwatch is a thing too but when i picked up this game i Almost forgot about it. the mouvement is just too smooth, the gameplay so good, i just can't look away from this game anymore.
jaime ruiz yes and they would have continued to deliver quality COD products if activision didn,t starved them out by not paying them because they didn't wanted to cope with their bullshit
I've also noticed that! The game felt very reminiscent of Half-Life 2: Episode 1 and 2! The growing bond Cooper has with BT and their adventure reminded me a lot the journey Gordon and Alyx had. Whenever there was a segment where Cooper gets separated from BT, or Gordon seperated from Alyx, I was always glad to see the two characters reunite and continue their stories.
Hakan Frik true, i also got those vibes from HL2. the way the story is linear but still feel like you are in control, the fact they limit the cutscenes to a minimum, and that they chose a story that goes with the gameplay, not forced to the player like most AAA shooters do (halo 5 or newer COD for example). i had a "fresh" experience like i was able to experience when i first played HL.
I had low expectations for this game's campaign after playing Titanfall 1's "attempt," but I gave it a shot anyway once I remembered that this is from the CoD4 guys. They outdid CoD4 for me. I love that game, but this was just _fun._
This game is one of the best I've ever played and I play a variety of action shooters... this is definitely a masterpiece of nothing but thrilling action and a great memorable campaign.
the platform assembly line level was so absolutely unique and mind blowing that I played it 3 times over in my first playthrough. What an amazing idea and what a perfect execution of scale and worldbuilding and mechanics

Fast forward to 2020, and now the game is on Steam and has found a new life. The question comes will we get Titanfall 3 in the next couple of years (Apex is fine imo, but I feel the main TF conflict is something they need to revisit).
gotta say, just found your videos and as non native English speaker I find these videos easy to follow and understand. But I found something you have missed. not sure if anybody has told you yet but there is a option in settings to change titan rodeos. Not sure was it only that you have to hit e every time you want to rodeo or was it that you have to keep it pressed. 13:15
anyways, even if you had to hit button every time you want to rodeo, it helps you in such situations as we saw on video, jumping away from rodeo just to land on another titan. Tho if you don't land on it, you might just get stepped on sometimes.
I came back to this video just to see Titanfall 2 being shown some love, It is literally THE best story driven shooter I have ever played and the lack of people who have experienced it frustrates me

Thx to you, I just spent 5 hours and 23 minutes on the Titanfall 2 Campaign. I've had the game for weeks but I was hesitant to play the campaign because I don't usually play campaigns. It was really good, and I'm surprised I finished it in one sitting.
Your outros are so unique. You don't necessarily have a "set in stone" outro. More or less it's seen coming, but it's different every time giving us your last opinion on the game in a very thought provoking way. Superb content as usual. Wonderful.
Oh, Raycevick the Everwise, I've been recently introduced to your channel, and I approve your analysis and critique of video games. Thus, I must ask, would you ever do a "Years Later" of the Splintercell franchise?
This game is the Mad Max Fury Road of Video Games! A plot that is weak on the surface but is actually told through incredible action we've never seen before. Its an incredible game we need a sequel of!!
Another great video, you're very good at articulating your points. To the COD4-Titanfall 2 throughline I'd just like to add the 'Jump for it!!' moment that was of course at the end this time but clearly recalled the COD4 pre-title card end of mission. Playing both back-to-back is something I highly recommend, as the grounded yet frenetic pace of COD4 beautifully leads into the high-mobility power fantasy of TF|2.
Glad to see someone saw the same greatness in this game as I did, its really true the part about having to tell everyone to play this after trying it myself its addictive as hell and needs more attention
I watched a full play-through of the Tf2 campaign. Then I went and bought the game to play it myself despite already seeing the entire story. This is the only game that got me to do this.
I played the campaign for the first time a few weeks ago. And... yeah. It isn't often a FPS campaign makes such a great impression on me. I absolutely loved it, and my only hope for the future is that the campaign is longer. Titanfall has quickly become a favorite franchise of mine, up there with the likes of Elder Scrolls, and Halo, and I hope to God in Heaven that rumors for Titanfall 3 being released last this year are somewhat accurate.
I only picked up this game last week 21.04.17. I was blown away by the campaign and multiplayer. And this video sums up brilliantly the thoughts I had too. Thanks for making this.
The reason why Cooper can only use a cloak, is because the helmet has an Emergency Cloak, which lasts a shorter time. The other abilities either need a robotic body, or their suits can only accommodate one ability.
Phan7om1717 We are going to be the veterans among the hundreds of thousands he'll undoubtedly get at some point. I'd put him up there with Danny O'Dwyer in terms of care and attention paid to every line of text and every little clip.

Damn dude your script writing is excellent. That 1000 cuts and focused bomb analogy, those ending lines of the video. I can really tell you put work into this, and I have noticed it on your other videos as well.
A single-player game that is popular for it's Multiplayer, putting effort into the Campaign... that is literally just a Giant Tutorial for Multiplayer. reminds me of "Bad Company".

Recently brought Titanfall 2. I've got no regrets :) The satisfaction of wall running then jumping though a window to slide across the floor, dodging a hail of gun fire and finally smashing an enemy in the face. Is like nothing I've experienced! Having never played Titanfall before, i had my doubts whether i would enjoy the faster game play. However soon after playing, i found my self at ease with the controls. I borrowed Battlefield 1 from a friend before i bought TF2. Although i'm an long term battlefield player, i couldn't bond with the game. Not sure if it's the WW1 setting or i'm just losing interest in the battlefield series. It's an amazing game don't get me wrong! Some of the best game design I've ever seen! But no matter how hard i tried, i couldn't 100% enjoy myself :/. However! i'm happy with my new home over at Titanfall :)
The quality of your videos is absolutely amazing. I like to play video games RPGs Grind or Grand Strategy games while watching youtube. I'm glad I can add you to my watch later list.
I think it's funny how Dishonored 2 had the exact same mission as TF2. >Go to abandoned and destroyed place >Find time travel device >Navigate using the device, fighting guards in the past, animals in the present >Listen in on conversation to learn about the next objective >Item is dropped and never used again
Wow man, just wow. You're video editing, dialogue, analysis, research, and insight is something that's really... special. You earned a sub from me with the second video and now that I've seen all of your videos I'm itching for your next one. Keep up the good work!
As I'm sure someone else has commented already, looking at speedruns and high-level movement tech, including the grapple or stim would be a mistake; or as you guessed in the video, a nightmare to build around.

"Re-check the definition of 'Shortcut.'" Or something along those lines. For a freaking text that's only in a loading screen, that was also pretty funny.
I don't get it
He's 50% in love because he only have 2 of the 4 things mentioned.
@Danni Felix I don't see how that's funny at all.
I personally preferred the testing dome to the “effect and cause” mission. I love the mystery of what is being build around you leading up to the big reveal of the twisted murder game using you allies to test the IMC devices. It’s an amazing example of show don’t tell that I personally love to death.
Both are great, it just goes to show the developers creativity in putting interesting gameplay mechanics that enhance the story without feeling like a train on a rail
See for me the most memorable level was the revenge run with the smart pistol. probably cause of the emotion running in me...
@@izendale I loved that level cause the whole time that Sarah is trying to contact you over the coms Cooper doesn't even try to respond. I like to imagine he's just too fuming with rage to focus on anything other than getting to Slone and Blisk to have revenge.
Yea it’s pretty cool but come on, who doesn’t love time travel
Truly the hidden gem of 2016. Had quite a lot going against it, and still does, being that EA decided to sandwich it's release between their own game(BF1) and Infinite Warfare. Seriously don't know why they chose to do this, but it nearly jeopardized the entire release of the game.
Allan Costa they wanted BF to suceed, and didn't wanted TF to gain too much playerbase, as respawn can and will free itself from EA if they have enough funds
mansuy adrien Probably. Thing is, if Respawn separates from EA, they likely won't get to keep the Titanfall IP.
Allan Costa
titanfall is their IP, EA don't own it, partnership wiht respawn was just so they could build 2 games to sink one, so if one failed (lets say, BF failled for some wierd reason), the other would suceed. a bad jugment from them was that EA thought they could streal IW playerbase before COD was out. it was a terrible mistake as COD buyers are not the most aware buyers on this planet. if only they had waited 2 weeks for the popularity of COD to drop bellow farming simulator 2K17, they would have broke reccords. the problem is that the previous game was popular but very short lived, this one is realy good but customers are now realy cautious about the game. even if all critics praise this game, they will still go the easy way and buy MWR, even if it means buying a realy bad and overpriced game in the process.
I feel like this theory is more likely given recent information
It honestly seems like they intentionally screwed Titanfall 2 over to force Respawn into selling out which is honestly sad.
Did you like the game
Yeah, oh and don't forget to buy 14.000 jags from the mann co. Store :))))))
What did the team fortress 2 community have to do with it?
@@sage7149 titanfall 2 not team fortress 3
The Geneva convention I know I was just joking. On the internet TF2 usually means team fortress 2. Hell if you google search TF2 team fortress pops up.
My biggest complaint is the campaign length. I was actually quite sad when it ended, as this was one of my favorite FPS campaigns to play.
Greyson Mills yep, but they had to respect EA's deadlines, and with the quality of the level design i can frogive them
quality over quantity my friend
always
and i rather play a campaign that is 100% interesting than a campaign that have some shallow level inside, that will stop me to play it.
Greyson Mills better to play a good campaign that's 3 hours long 3 times than 1 that's 9 hours long that suck
Greyson Mills play it in master it's very VERY fun sliding around trying to avoid getting hit it's awesome
mansuy adrien ea didn’t really set a deadline.
Kenshi0909 Ha I agree, it also seems like a Russian soldiers name haha
A beautiful young elderly man Truuu
Another great Canadian surname is Barlow, or Matychuk.
Even more badass than Riddick. "Chronicle's of Riddick", "Chronicle's of Raycevick"
Plus he sounds like Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop.
A kid in my school said the campaign was bad. I took his panini and threw it accross the hall.
@@idakev you must be really good at the game if ur saying that the boss titans were ONLY 30 secs long.
@@BroodierLily296 I wasn't exaggerating. I think I still have footage of it on my PS4. I typically play games very aggressively. I don't play games much anymore though because I have tenosynovitis in my left hand so I'm not really bothered checking.
I think I played the game just under 2 years ago now. My younger brother was watching me play and laughed at how fast I killed the first boss. I think it was because the boss said something like, "You don't stand a chance" and then started screaming and blew up shortly afterwards.
Kevin Boylan that is what the first boss said. Good memory.
Also, I want to see the video of the bosses if you can.
To be clear, I’m not a person that needs evidence for everything. I just like seeing enemy bosses die quickly. It would probably be the fastest boss kills in titan fall2 that I’ve seen. I’m gonna see if I can beat your time.
@@idakev if you say it was too easy then you clearly havent played it on the highest difficulty... THIS IS A NIGHTMARE! It took ages to complete it
Super glad the RUclips algorithm is leading me to greater channels like this, from one month of weird ass 7 year old videos to one month of weird ass 7 year old videos with a couple of hidden gems

JojiniChazz i noticed that RUclips is leading me more and more to good channels recently. at least until they realise they get less money from it and revert the changes
The RUclips algorithm is really weird, one day it sends you to the worst channel ever, the next day it can send you to the best channel ever.
It's often based on both your current subscribed channels list, liked videos list, disliked videos list, watch history, and, most significantly, what videos you've watched recently. So if you watch a lot of Raycevick's videos, you'll get recommended more videos like his. ;~D
All hail the all mighty algorithm!

The Vengeful 'Vadam You will immensely enjoy it, very few games can make me cry, laugh, rage and feel truly satisfied when I finish the story and Titanfall 2 was one of them.

14:28 “so that was a fucking lie”
- Tyler the creator
While I don't always agree with your statements, I LOVE this channel, and the commentary is top quality. As someone studying game design, this content is amazing and I'm actually adapting some points made in these videos to work for the games I help with.
TLDR: This channel needs more subs. I'm showing this to my coworkers
Caleb Olds It isn't even long lol
11:11 Holy crap I just played Frontier Defense with that Philly_Cheasteak guy. Small world
something I loved this year is the renewed focus on level design, from the Cause and Effect level in Titanfall 2 to pretty much every level in Dishonored 2 (especially the clockwork mansion, Dust District and Crack in the Slab)
it's been awesome to see
Amr Sabbagh ideed, it love good level design in games and the last titles realy proved thzt good level design can make a good game
You may have Dark souls to partially thank for that
During the singleplay, I threw a grenade near a bunch of enemies, and I was shocked when one of them jumped to the grenade so that his friends could move on.
I never realized that could happen, that’s incredible
This game absolutely shits on cod. I hope people realize this game is much better than infinite shitfare.
Cod is now the Chinese bootleg version of Titanfall.
Greg Rothschilds I agree
CoD is now the Chinese bootleg version of itself, Destiny, Titanfall, Halo, and whatever other popular FPS game is out. You can bet your fucking ass that there will be a CoD with Overwatch-esque hero characters sometime in the future. I remember when every video game, even games outside of the FPS genre, copied shit from CoD. Now CoD rips off everything else.
Greg Rothschilds It shits on most other FPSs put there right now, honestly.
Why did this make me laugh so hard? and why is it so FUCKING TRUE!?!?!?!?!?!
I remember beating ash in 10 seconds with scorch, it was so funny because the game hyped up the fight for like two whole levels
well that might have happened because you were on an easier difficulty
i used brute, and when she closed in on me, I just used my flight core. I flew up and filled her with rocket salvos, was pretty funny as she just stared at me.
@@ironkight3648 same thing happened for me and i was on hard, the gap between hard and master is huge, becaues on master you will just be instantly blown up
This game has a campaign comparable to Half-Lifes... Only if it was a bit longer.
Antenman interesting comparison
indeed, like half life in it's time, this game strive to inovate, to do something new. a lot of games enjoy the safety of half backed gimmics they call new features, while hiding behid the good stuff from the previous game. titanfall not only learn from the previous game. it acheive near perfection in gameplay and crushes all things i had to say about the predessesor. Almost all complains were adressed and titanfall 2 feels like, finaly, a fresh experience for a FPS. overwatch is a thing too but when i picked up this game i Almost forgot about it. the mouvement is just too smooth, the gameplay so good, i just can't look away from this game anymore.
jaime ruiz
yes and they would have continued to deliver quality COD products if activision didn,t starved them out by not paying them because they didn't wanted to cope with their bullshit
Hakan Frik
true, i also got those vibes from HL2. the way the story is linear but still feel like you are in control, the fact they limit the cutscenes to a minimum, and that they chose a story that goes with the gameplay, not forced to the player like most AAA shooters do (halo 5 or newer COD for example). i had a "fresh" experience like i was able to experience when i first played HL.
I got BF1 after this and simply can't get in to it in the same way, and I've been playing since BC2. TF2 is taking up my multiplayer time and that's a real testament to Respawn's skill.
UNSKIALzPSN for real. Ive been playing Madden pretty much exclusively because its simple and fun. Ive played BF Fallout Gears Forza SWBF and nothing peeled me off but this did.
UNSKIALzPSN Ironically I only got this game because it came with BF1, but I ended up loving Titanfall 2 much more.
@@dominicscreativefilms same picked it up about 2 weeks bf1+tf2 for 19$ and holy shit i didnt think that i would be so much more into tf2 and the multiplayer is pretty active into every game under 1 min
Yeah I can still play battlfield for a while but then it gets a bit boring because of the lack of mobility
This video encouraged me to play Titanfall 2 and I'm so glad I did. What a blast it was. Short enough to leave me wanting more but not so short that I wasn't satisfied at the end.
Just "that level" and all people who have played the game new what glorious thing you have mentioned
Fast forward to 2020, and now the game is on Steam and has found a new life. The question comes will we get Titanfall 3 in the next couple of years (Apex is fine imo, but I feel the main TF conflict is something they need to revisit).
I love your videos, man! Your points are always so eloquently expressed. Keep it up.
Thanks, Liam! Can't wait for you next project!
gotta say, just found your videos and as non native English speaker I find these videos easy to follow and understand.
I came back to this video just to see Titanfall 2 being shown some love, It is literally THE best story driven shooter I have ever played and the lack of people who have experienced it frustrates me
As this might get buried with the flood of other RUclips comments - Never before have I been this impressed with the time, energy, thought, and passion you pour into your videos. I have never donated to anyone via Patreon and you have changed that. I love it and keep it up.

well the ai was designed for multiplayer so it shouldnt be really a surprise that the hard mode here feels like normal mode in other shooters
Daxter yes, because there is no hard mode in MP. on a side note, i love running around on the first half of the map hacking spectrers and build a 25 Man army
Their actually difficult to fight against if you play on master mode, they are then more powerful than their multiplayer counterparts.

I only bought the game to hear Matt Mercer's sexy voice
Me too, but I kept the game for glenn's (bt's) voice
Thx to you, I just spent 5 hours and 23 minutes on the Titanfall 2 Campaign. I've had the game for weeks but I was hesitant to play the campaign because I don't usually play campaigns. It was really good, and I'm surprised I finished it in one sitting.
Ouch, hurts to listen to the last part in 2021...
Officially my favorite RUclipsr
OpticObsidiaN Yep, mine too
Your outros are so unique.
Not sure if I have enough attachment to it to do a full Years Later analysis of it, but I'll likely cover them in some form in the future.
That Ending hit me hard in 2020...
Titanfall 3 feels like a distant fantasy now-a-days.
Ooo a lorerunner reference good tastes!
Agreed.

This game is the Mad Max Fury Road of Video Games! A plot that is weak on the surface but is actually told through incredible action we've never seen before. Its an incredible game we need a sequel of!!
You are one of my favorite channels. I really enjoy your analyses and they way you write them.
Thank you.
4:16 “next entry” unless they pull a space marine 2 I don’t think that’s going to happen
Another great video, you're very good at articulating your points. To the COD4-Titanfall 2 throughline I'd just like to add the 'Jump for it!!' moment that was of course at the end this time but clearly recalled the COD4 pre-title card end of mission.
Playing both back-to-back is something I highly recommend, as the grounded yet frenetic pace of COD4 beautifully leads into the high-mobility power fantasy of TF|2.
evklinken interesting
Glad to see someone saw the same greatness in this game as I did, its really true the part about having to tell everyone to play this after trying it myself its addictive as hell and needs more attention
I watched a full play-through of the Tf2 campaign. Then I went and bought the game to play it myself despite already seeing the entire story. This is the only game that got me to do this.

Just finished the campaign and... WOW. It was just incredible I can’t believe how underrated this game is.
Wow nice, I just recommended you make a Titanfall 2 video yesterday, and I see this! Great review and analysis, keep it up with the quality content!

one of my favorite sounds in this game is the sound that Slone Screams when she dies. NEVER shoot another mans titan
I only picked up this game last week 21.04.17. I was blown away by the campaign and multiplayer. And this video sums up brilliantly the thoughts I had too. Thanks for making this.
"The next entry..."
Oh...
I made myself sad.
It's having a resurgence lately, and it's awesome!
Also, let's also appreciate that Respawn doesn't crunch its employees.

That was almost a code karen
The reason why Cooper can only use a cloak, is because the helmet has an Emergency Cloak, which lasts a shorter time. The other abilities either need a robotic body, or their suits can only accommodate one ability.
For a channel this good, how the hell does he only have 7,000 subscribers?
Phan7om1717 We are going to be the veterans among the hundreds of thousands he'll undoubtedly get at some point. I'd put him up there with Danny O'Dwyer in terms of care and attention paid to every line of text and every little clip.
Phan7om1717 Mostly because he hasn't had Mich of an audience, until he out his Halo years later videos on cogconnected, so now he has a foundation of subscribers, and a lot of those people will share the videos, and it will just keep on growing
Wait so you're saying his channel only had 7000 subs 2 days ago? (For those who read this in the future and need some context, this channel jumped by 4000 subs in two days, currently at 11,000).

How did he get 13,000 subs in 4 days??
crazyjdog1 His Halo video blew up in the Halo community

It's back baby! TF2 is fixed and breathing great again!

I played this game for the first time a couple of months ago and loved it.

>Navigate using the device, fighting guards in the past, animals in the present
>Listen in on conversation to learn about the next objective
