I finished this game for the first time in 2024. Honestly it's amazing and still holds up well today. I had to search for this track, it sounds so peaceful.
Wholesome to see all of you Silent Hill fans coming together so recently 😂 I just started on my first playtrough of SH2 and am excited to see what this franchise has in store
I remember when I played SH2 for the first time (it was in december 2001) : I literally fell in love with that song... I was so captivated that I stopped playing for several minutes just to listen to it.
This track plays in one of more chilling and relaxing moment in the game and yet...there is something very uncanny and sinister about it...Like for example how on earth Eddy was able to find digestable pizza in this totally desolated town?
I think that pizza was meant for Eddy to find, since he later reveals that he was always made fun of for being overweight. It's like the town knows he can't help himself and gave him an entire box.
I always had a head canon that whenever music played during a moment of peace in any SH game, was that the background music was coming from the portable radio the characters were carrying since there was no monsters around for the radio to detect and it was a completely safe area. I always thought that was a cool idea.
this track, you can sleep to it, drive to it, study to it and be afraid of it. I haven't played Silent Hill 2 since December of 2001, this track got me to play the game this year. Happy 15th birthday Silent Hill 2!
@@toastyblues06 I think there are like multi dimensions in silent hill and what u see in game is only the James silent hill and his own monsters but Eddie and the others does not see what James actually see
I havent finished the game yet, but so far I absolutely love the pacing of Silent Hill 2. The mix between absolute nightmare fuel and chill moments like the bowling alley sequence is what makes this game never lose it’s charm.
My childhood nightmares, were of a place much like silent hill. So when I first saw it, I freaked the hell out. Now I love it. Some of the best gameplay music ever.
Masterpiece Atmospheric Soundtrack Ambience... 🎶☯️🎶 The reason why Silent Hill 2 it became a classic is because eventually people began to see how unique, eerie, melancholic and authentic the game's atmosphere it really is, and took the time to enjoy its deeply thoughtful narrative and symbolism. To this day it’s by far one of, if not the most mature examination of grief, sexual trauma, suicide, and morality all combined. It’s an intelligent game that does not hold anyone’s hand and comes at the player with utmost confidence in itself. It’s fantastic stuff. The rest of the original 4 are great in their own right and have their own well written stories, but they don’t hold the same emotional weight to them. I think SH2’s maturity by comparison is something that a lot of people are drawn to. ☯️
If we assume everything created by the town comes from the town itself, Eddie may very well have been eating town. (Now there's a rare sentence for you.)
i got some bad news for you... look at the ost they just posted on konami's channel.. no alone in the town remake but honestly, the new ost sounds so much better than i thought it would, and the null moon remix is actually pretty nice
Where I live there's a mountain place called Cerro Azul sometimes it get's so foggy like silent hill, That You can barely see around I put on this music while walking around with my wife and it was such a great experience! Silent Hill 2 is a masterpiece sometimes I miss the good old PS2 , Sega Dreamcast days.
I've always seen this as good bar music, when the bar is nearly empty, or everyone there is just there to drown their sorrows. Edit: Either that or being alone in the rough parts of town in Shemnue at night with a lot of sailors and thugs that just want to beat you to death.
The way this song makes me feel is the exact reason why i think the remake wont hit anywhere near as hard as the original.. something about silent hill only makes sense to me when its in that ps2 aesthetic with lower fidelity music like this and not hyoer realistic graphics and action packed gameplay.. We'll see tho.
the sad part is that looking at the ost soundtrack preview that konami just posted, we will not be getting this song remade which is a shame, this was one of my favorites off the soundtrack for SH2, but the new ost sounds so good still despite that! akira yamaoka has always been the goat for video game soundtracks imo
This was an intentional, artistic decision: It composes the idea that James was imprisoned by his desires (Maria,) and that his desires were imprisoned by him. He buried his true emotions within himself, suffering.

Exactly the same
How can you NOT sit there and eat pizza in a town full of monsters when THIS track is playing, James???
How could you sit there and eat monsters?! This town is full of pizzas!

I love that, totally fits the crackly/kinda lofi aesthetic of the music too.
I drink whiskey to it playing, as the sun is going down between the forest at the back of my house. Such a vibe.

ahead of its time or timeless to be more precise. This game is a valuable piece of art.

not really, that's basically trip hop - already popular in late 90s
