It's very relating but I had it as a very young kid as well. All the way back when it launched in 2000. So many cool and legendary memories playing it alone, with friends or my brother. Played it probably for 9 years straight with loads of games being made for it. No wonder it's the top selling console of all time it's so nostalgic. PlayStation 2 for the win. There is this Icelandic show called GameTíví (GameTV) and my brother won once nerd of week with how many games he had for it and we got sent a new title to our house. It is called Katamari Damacy. @A Catchphrase I was fortunate enough to be...not older, but not a super young kid, so I was just old enough to figure out that with my allowance money I could rent a game I already owned but it didn't work, and swap the discs out. There was nobody being like "Hey you scratched this, you gotta pay for that!" It was just some 17 year old kid who wanted to get back to making out with his girlfriend and feeding his neopet. I went back to Walmart and, Fourth, I told the lady at returns that I bought the game today, opened it, it had the wrong disc in it, so I needed to return the game and purchase the correct one. She looks at my receipt and takes it, and gives me $50 cash, taking my second copy of Battlefront 1. Fifth, I buy my second copy of Battlefront 2, and Sixth, I go straight to my friend James' house and we play Battlefront 2. I tell him "I have a second copy if you wanna buy it!" and we ended up trading. I think he gave me a Blink 182 CD and Lord of the Rings Two Towers. It might've been Final Fantasy X though, I really can't remember.

@@Orpheusftw But the PS2 era was more enjoyable. Not just because of nostalgia or general life being better but because you grew up with it and played it a lot on your own, with your friends or family. When you get to adulthood people move on to newer things so everyone is just trendy instead of revisiting the past. It's by far the greatest and most legendary computer of all time. So many great and original titles were build for it something that's lacking in today's gaming age unfortunately. The library for PS2 was crazy about 4000 games which excels every other console by a large merit. Not everyone is so lucky to still have it. It only exists in memories for some.

ruclips.net/video/QYZieOZAFig/видео.html This is very nostalgic. In my opinion the PS2 had the most memorable menu screen. Something magical about those orbs floating in those patterns This was my edit 👌🏼
In memory of my uncle who passed away this year, he bought me ps2 in 2004 with GTA San Andreas, I was 12 YO back then. This song compilation woke me up very strong memories with him and also ps2 gaming from that period and I can definitely say it was a golden period of my life. 😢😢😢 ❤❤❤
I don't know if it's because I'm getting older but man oh man, games just were better then. The PlayStation 2 was such a fantastic system. Nearly every game for had its fun parts, had no dlc or microtransactions and didn't require a day 1 patch. Not to mention several hundred gigs of free space on your system. Developers made what they wanted and not what they were told to. Graphics blew us away even if they were garbage. Nostalgia.
She is still a fantastic system. I still own 3 of them, just for the Silent Hill Games..... This music here is pure Dope.... 🙂 Reminds me of simpler and happier times...
32 year old here, never played games but considering getting a console since i've been getting into this ambient music and coding at the same time and i know videogames are a good application for both. probably will be the ps2 since im not gonna spend hundreds on something im not sure about (yet)
I think it was more the people, honestly. PS2 games were meant be shared and almost all of the experiences I had with the PS2 were of that nature. The world of the late 90s and early 00s was only starting to feel the overwhelming evil that was to come with the turn of 2001 and then with the turn of 2013. Objectively there have been modern games that have renewed my sense of what can be done and what is possible, in much the same way that people don't really play sidescrollers anymore, I feel like the PS2 genre and era of games is now giving way and will be giving way to something much more encompassing, that people will find ways to be amazed and entertained again, but it will be less interpersonal in some respects.
Boy do I understand where your coming from brutherrr feels tho even with all that happy holidays friend i hope you have a good Christmas morning and may the new year bring you better luck :]
My family is the same unfortunately. I'm the only one who treats it like a regular holiday. Everyone else in it sees Christmas as a competition or something. It's really annoying and frustrating. Well thankfully the worst is over. This December was rough in Iceland it's been so cold and snowy. Been a very stressful and an emotionally disturbing month. But I'm glad it's a new year.
I lost my father due to complications from cancer and COVID around 3 months ago, it's been hard living without him, let alone finding the motivation to continue living myself. This ambience kinda encapsulates how I feel right now: just wanting to go back to a better time but knowing things can never be the same.
I wish you peace. I believe I understand what you are trying to say, like you want to teleport and retreat back to your memories. Like they're a safe haven. Those memories are part of you and your dad lives on through you, forever
Did you know: the hypnotizing dance of the white LEDs has a complete rotation cycle of 60 seconds and complements the other part of the geometric menu which is in fact a clock!
Edit: So the video existed for a mere 17 seconds and it has been copyright claimed by Industrial Strength Records and The Orchard Enterprises for using a song called A Thousand Eyes by The Teknoist. This in itself is perplexing as Konami Music Entertainment Inc. does not license its soundtracks for commercial use. Soooooooo Industrial Strength Records and The Orchard Enterprises get a free pass for using a sample without permission. Along with the RUclips bot not even correctly recognizing the Soundtrack. The Soundtrack is called The Day Of Night from Silent Hill 2 and is the entire three-hour loop within the background. I don't really care about it just thought it was amusing that people who do need the RUclips algorithm money can get fucked over by a bot that doesn't work all too well and by record labels who also exploit the same protection system on RUclips for soundtracks being uploaded with full protection. Yes, I understand that in Teknoist's song that the sample is used for the entire duration of the song but because they made a full production song that uses that one sample now anyone who wishes to upload anything with The Day Of Night even if it isn't even uploading the song in its full length nor using a small sample without any context with no intention to use it for monetization profit is now at risk of systematic abuse thanks to a clearly abusive copyright system. I am not throwing hate at Teknoist in any way. Nor are Industrial Strength Records and The Orchard Enterprises the only ones who do this shit. They are just a small part of a huge problem within the RUclips automation system.
Thank God this got reuploaded. I missed the original so bad. Thank you for this! This music always puts me to ease, as does a lot of beautiful nostalgic video game music and orchestra/symphony. It's literally timeless and so calming. I feel like I'm entering another world or something listening to this the PS2 era was something else entirely. I'm so grateful that my childhood got invested in it. So many good and fond memories of my favorite console of all time. Can hardly believe that it's 22 years old, time flies fast. Things were so much simpler back then. I would give anything to rewind back time and play with my brother or my friends on the PS2. A world without drama. Greatest experience as a gamer.
Thank you for sharing the experience. I still have my working PS2 and enjoy a quick game now and then and I love the startup ambience like the first time starting the console.
Glad I saw this comment, for me it not only puts me at ease, but it instead also transports me back to that time. When I hear this music my minds eye transports me to that era. I feel lighter...it's almost as if I was in a large tank suspended in body-temperature water. Asleep and eyes closed. Balanced in a stasis...
I loved games more than anyone but I can see how they were detrimental to my upbringing. It's like giving a kid drugs that disrupt their developmental process. All I thought about while at school was games. Even now you can see urself wanting to go back... idk man shit feels wrong to be so invested in something fake
Silent Hill 2 is an emotional masterpiece.. Beating that game is like facing your own deep-seated trauma and finally releasing it. I haven't found another game that makes me feel that way, and it's been over two decades.
@@SilentChaos713 absolutely not. Silent Hill 2 isn't some apocalypsed world where 'monsters' just kill people. In SH, its people that hurt others and the town is a representation of guilt, pain, anger, injustice. Especially SH2, which tackles the effects a terminal illness can have on the sick person and the people around them, sexual frustration and abuse, suicide, mentally unstable people pushed to the edge by things as simple as bullying, and all the murder that took the lives of so many innocent and guilty alike, including children. The Walking Dead (at least the first season of the Telltale games) is great, and deals with plenty of issues like how desperate people turn to cannibalism, children trying to survive with what limited knowledge they have, for mindless zombies dont know mercy, and losing your family members/friends and knowing you have to shoot them or they will walk as an undead. There are similar themes such as mercy killings to murder, but TWD is a kill or be killed world. One bite and you're done for (most of the time) and the world becomes a fight for survival among feral people who will do anything to stay alive. There is no zombie apocalypse excuse for the things people in the SH franchise did. No mindless monster threat caused what Alessa went through, just the beliefs of a mad cult. No kill or be killed scenario that made Angela's father and brother do what they did to her. James didn't do what he did to Mary to save her from being a walking corpse. These were regular people, with no outside influence, just doing things on their own judgement. We will never experience TWD, zombies are fictional. But people all around the world experience the trauma shown in Silent Hill games every day. Thats why these two are not comparable in the slightest. You can have your own opinions on whether TWD/SH is good or better than the other, I respect it. But TWD will never be as emotional or traumatic as Silent Hill, especially Silent Hill 2.
The ps2 was released in 2000 but I was born in 2004. I remember my family was poor when I was very young up until my teenage years, as up until I was 3 or 4 I remember playing the ps2 because it was all we had. I was very young, but growing up in a rough household as a kid this definitely brings me to a calm place, being reminded of the solace I was able to take in video games as a kid. Many thanks for the ambience, and wellness to you all.
It feels like its recalling a memory where I where I got sick on a 12h trip in a sleeper car, not being able to sleep at night, snow outside, and getting off the train with masses of snow and fighting my way home in casual clothing, even though I'm certainly new to the sereis and never heard that ambience before (i love it ngl)
There’s probably a message by me someplace down the the detritus of coments, but I don’t care. I’m drunk, sad, and alive at this moment, and that’s all that matters. This brings back so many memories from times that I can now appreciate where much better. More innocent and pure times, but they also bring refflections of my present time. for some reason, this makes me think about all the sadness I’ve gone through relation to unrequited love. How many women I’ve loved with all my heart, and how many haven’t even the slightest idea about it. Is this just a dream of mine? O honestly don’r know why I am the way I am. There’s so much sadness in the world, and for me it is even sadder that in a world where there are billions of people, millions of us cannot find one single person to be happy with. And when we find that person, we screw it up, we mess it up, because of our idiocy, fear and ignorance. I know you will never see this, but I love you Paty, and I am so sorry for having hurt you the way I did. There is not a single day that goes by without me judging and kicking me for what I said to you. I am sorry if I hurt you, but I still love you.
Be strong pal', things are what they are, but they are not always defined only through our vision of things. Just advice from a stranger, but alcohol won't help you recover, even if it's a more docile way to give up. Me, on my side, I invite you to one day try to open yourself up again to the possibility that a love can see the light of day. And sorry for my slightly broken English, I'm French, but your comment alerted me! 🙏🤘🧡
I’ve long held that the PS2 is the best console ever. I’ve flip flopped several times between it and the Wii. Both amazing consoles in their own right. PS2, I have fond memories of Star Wars Battlefront 2, Spider-Man 2, Bully, Finding Nemo, Transformers, Road Trip, all of it. Love it. So many hours and precious memories with this console. Thanks for uploading this. I’m at college and far from my childhood home and my PS2. This reminds me of the good times. Have a blessed day.
Your very welcome my dude. Yeah I have alot of fond memories of Battlefront 2, I never played the PS2 version though, only the PSP one lol. Have a good day!
I remember playing the ps2 as a very young child. The ps2 was released 4 years before I was born but I played the ps2 probably up until I was 4. Even if I was only that young, I remember how much I enjoyed playing my games on that system. I also miss watching my Dad play the old Hitman games on it. That was a long time ago though. I am in college now too, and I hope it is treating you well.
@@farfetchedfarade3197 You were 4. Lol. I was 12 when the PS2 was released. Funny that you never experienced 2D games as your childhood games nor PS1 so probably you did not experience the leap in graphics that this era brought.
Man this console sure had its memories. I remember waking up early in the morning just to play games with my uncle.. only thing i looked forward to as a kid
I like to read pretty often, years ago I decided to put this on while reading and now I can't read without it. Reading in bed at night with this playing is like therapy, thanks for the upload
Thank you so much for posting this! I've been using this to help me write and finish homework for ages now, and I can't imagine trying to do either without this playing in the background!
You have no idea how happy I am to find this. I would play this every night to help me sleep and I was so devastated when it was taken down originally on zerofuturism's channel. I put other silent hill music on but it didn't help as much as this. You're doing the lord's work man.
I've owned a PS2 as a kid but never played Silent Hill 2 before. However, after listening to this song as well as a few others from this game's OST I now wish to buy a PS2 again and play this game. This music makes me feel lost, in a good way. I know I'm not the only person who feels that way.
Amazing how a sound can draw us to a memory we hold dearly...We can think about it as if it was yesterday....I remember my 1st day on the battlefield of genosis as a 501st trooper...it was hot sandy and nothing like the training modules back home on kamino...
I was sleeping and this video played on its own and I heard that iconic PlayStation 2 startup sound and brought back so many memories when I would play it at my grandparents house as a kid with no worries or playing with my brother just having a blast Thank you for this 🙏🏼
This is crazy there was another video with the EXACT music being played and it ended up getting deleted! Thank god you have this uploaded cause I’m seriously thinking about downloading this in case it ever gets deleted
The PS2 was amazing, My dad got it for me when I was little and it was a surprise. my first game was Ratchet and Clank, part of the reason got me hooked immediately and wanting more. The Emotion Engine for the PS2 was surreal back then. it made the console feel like it was alive and part of the reason for the sounds of how the PS2 makes. it was remarkable for its time and I was glad to be in the moment.
To think I would still be alive today is insane to me. Hearing this music has sent me back to when I was so hurt but gaming saved me. In tears I remember that feeling. This music is touching my soul.
It's strange to see how much of an effect art and music can have on us as adults in reference to our childhoods/formative years/times past. I was binging this song during a breakup as it just... kept me focused. Everytime I come back to look through comments I always think of my ex partner and hope their doing okay.
This track used to help me so much to sleep at night, thank you for rescuing and sharing this blissful ambience with us. Now I can rest easy and well again. 💤
4 night ago my friend died, found him lifeless. Surrounded by food and a water bottle. I cry constantly with this image etched into my mind.i need this.x
This is my favourite ambience. Despite owning a PS2 in this era, I never played Silent Hill, so I don't know why this makes me so nostalgic. Still... take me back in time. Please.
This brings back the memories of when I had a scratched disc and hoped it would work, then when it doesn’t you sit there feeling upset.. but all of a sudden it doesn’t matter because you’ve just become lost in the background ambience
I miss these times so much, you have no idea how much... or maybe you do. I would give anything to go back in time and experience this part of my life again...
thank you for composing this wonderful nostalgic getaway, so that my mind may wander and retreat to happier times in my childhood when things weren't so divided and tomorrow didn't seem so scary... thank you for helping me clear my mind so that I could dream and welcome the new day with ease
i’m a freshman and i would always put this video on and listen with my headphones in my 1st hour class bc my class had apple computers n stuff and i always felt relaxed with this playing and sometimes i would get high so the feeling is much better and today was my last time being in my first hour class because the school year is coming to a end and i will never feel the feeling of listening to this early in the morning at school again it just felt different man.
I'm probably not alone on this: Upon seeing this menu now, it feels like a desolate void intially... But those orbs + ambience suggested a ton of life's experiences that are long gone, inserting any 💿 triggers the life of these worlds that you want to play... Once it gets turned off however: There would be nothing there again, just the same things that accompanied it before... Or also just the memory cards, slabs of cosmic memories that no matter how unconventionally unorthodox, keeps track/progress of said worlds... I have these memory cards to this day, however there is doubt if my actual PS2 works anymore, I don't know where it is... Thankfully we have become technologically advanced to conserve them in PC's, and such methods being furthered in the long future.... But even then someday, all will be just a void once more... Now someone's gotta replay our life's for a change.
This takes me to a weird place, like a time capsule but it’s hard to describe. It’s like an influx of technology and spirituality coming from a timeless place Edit 3 months later: this was the video that introduced me to silent hill. First this video popped up in my recommendations, then I seeked out the soundtrack for silent hill 2; i ended up playing it a few weeks later just because of how much i loved the soundtrack. I ended up completing both SH2 and SH1 within a couple weeks of each other, and currently I'm playing SH3! I'm lucky to have gone down this trajectory because it's immediately become one of my favourite games + soundtracks. I love the whole Lynchian/dreamlike atmosphere.
I've yet to actually play a Silent Hill game. I was only ever introduced to it though of all things, Little Big Planet 2, as alot of people used to remake the games soundtrack through the in game synths. That's what really got me into this type of music. Little did I know many years later that I would be reuploading a video with music I listened to non stop as a kid.
To this day I still cannot believe a human being composed this…It’s absolutely otherworldly and Zerofuturism’s done it so much justice with the PS2 ambience. Thank you for reuploading this treasure which has no doubt helped many in times of need…
Even though I've never experienced this in my childhood during the time this was out, but somehow I can say while watching/listening.. it brings me nostalgic vibes.
Little detail, but I like that you waited to have the SH ambience fade in gently rather than others who just have it start at full and blast and throw off the vibe. Good on you! 👍
Thank you for bringing this back bro. Heard this a while ago and was confused when it was removed from youtube. Decided to try my luck and found that it had been uploaded. Great work on giving credit to the OG uploader as well. Thank you again.
Your very welcome my dude. Yeah Zerofuturism's channel was getting hit with takedowns so they sadly had to remove it. I think they reverted that decision though as they have some other mixes back up on their channel like the Poolrooms and Hospital Core ones.
I grew up on the PS3 era but I vaguely remember playing a bit of PlayStation 2 back then. I was a bit bored on Black Ops 2 (I know dont hate me) and so I decided to bother my dad for something to do (I think I wanted to go to an arcade or something like that). Fortunately he said no, and instead he showed me an PS2. I was baffled at its size, I never even knew there were other versions of the console. Starting it up felt strange. I was hoping to hear the orchestral theme of the PS3. But instead it was a loud entrance followed by waves. I admit I was a little shocked at what I was using. Just dots floating in an empty space. Like I was staring directly at its heart. Had some fun memories playing star wars battlefront 2, twisted metal black, and crash bandicoot (only games I had for this system) Now here I am about to get a PS5. I grew up on the PlayStation 3 and it was my pride and joy. But I'll never forget how strange the PS2 was compared to the others.
I grew up on Ps1, and I remember getting my Ps2 for Christmas with a handful of games. You can't really understand unless a Ps1 was truly the best there was. At the time, that was it...a dpad and 4 buttons on the other side, start/select, and the L and R buttons. Dualshock wasn't new, but it was now the standard, you didn't have to shell out extra money to get it. Dualshock 2 shipped with the Ps2. Not to mention the astounding jump in graphics. Nobody had ever seen a reflection in a video game until the Ps2 came along. There were some interesting attempts, but nothing like the Ps2 graphics. It was an incredibly powerful machine. The original Ps2 was a bulky beast. Not quite as big as the Ps3, but much larger than the Ps1. Everything about the Ps2 was mystifying. Huge memory cards existed for them, 32 whole mbs, that was so impressive at the time. Open-world games with huge maps were coming out. The scope of games changed. You had Shadow of Colossus which was just...mind blowing. To this day there are die hard fans of that game scouring every byte of code and inch of the game looking for secrets within it. GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas, of course, was a game-changing string of releases. The Sims, the NFS franchise, Madden, and NBA...So many excellent memories.
Dude the way that Silent hill music fits perfectly with the PS2 ambiance, maybe this franchise has a place in every console platform, but Play Station it´s his home
That’s awful that they would take this masterpiece down. Thankfully, I was able to get a copy of the original video that I can still listen to in peace. I have been thinking about uploading it for a short period of time so that others can do the same because I get how awesome this track was. Would anyone be interested in that? (Ofc, all credit goes to Zerofuturism who made it 💚)
Can you feel it? Something is very bad with this world. The time... gone. Are you listening? Those shattered memories... Take me back... Those afternoons... What we are...?
I remember my big brother and I would wake up early n go on the couch he’d play his game or watch a movie and I would be next to him snuggled in my blanket and watched him play his games, he’s autistic but he’s the best big brother always taking care of me🤍
Thanks
No problem man. Anything to keep your content alive and well.

Nostalgia.
Shut up.
We pushing 30 bro we pushing 30😢 I miss adolescence
She is still a fantastic system. I still own 3 of them, just for the Silent Hill Games.....
This music here is pure Dope.... 🙂
Reminds me of simpler and happier times...
Listening to this on Christmas night. Holidays are always rough for my family and this helped me get some sleep at least. Many thanks man.

@@floofdoodles2535you too bro, happy holidays man

My family is the same unfortunately. I'm the only one who treats it like a regular holiday. Everyone else in it sees Christmas as a competition or something. It's really annoying and frustrating. Well thankfully the worst is over. This December was rough in Iceland it's been so cold and snowy. Been a very stressful and an emotionally disturbing month. But I'm glad it's a new year.
Nobody cares about the true meaning of celebrations like Christmas, they just use it as an excuse to party.
Sorry yo hear that Bro, All good wishes to you AND your family

Did you know: the hypnotizing dance of the white LEDs has a complete rotation cycle of 60 seconds and complements the other part of the geometric menu which is in fact a clock!
I didn't understand a word but i visualized every single move.
It would be cool to have a clock on the wall that tells the time in such an esoteric way.
how do you read it i cant figure it out
@@alexanderm8975 he found that on google and wanted to act smart, he doesn't know either
They are just a small part of a huge problem within the RUclips automation system.
thx for reposting the video I use it every night to sleep

Greatest experience as a gamer.
just a hint - if you dont want the fear of losing this track - there are youtube-to-mp3 coverters online... thats all i can say
I hate how RUclips doesn’t tell you what gets deleted

Silent Hill 2 is an emotional masterpiece.. Beating that game is like facing your own deep-seated trauma and finally releasing it. I haven't found another game that makes me feel that way, and it's been over two decades.
The Walking Dead comes close

The fact that I was able to sleep 12 hours with this proves that this is a masterpiece

I fall asleep to this almost every night. I stream it to my TV. Thank you for the many pleasant nights that you have brought me.
This takes me to a weird place, like a time capsule but it’s hard to describe. It’s like an influx of technology and spirituality coming from a timeless place
Edit 3 months later: this was the video that introduced me to silent hill.
Thanks for this! I listen every night when I go to bed, it’s a godsend ❤
