I am Russian on my mom’s side and Cypriot on my father’s side . I haven’t ever been to Russia because i dont have any close relatives over there . My mom’s family lives in Riga . I really want to visit Russia soon . Ive been trying to learn more about my slavic culture and history along with the old slavic religions and way of life in the old times . This video made me cry because i never really knew how life worked in Russia even thought i watch russian television and speak the language pretty well. Seeing how the Motherland is truly shook me and i really want to go . Спасибо тебе большое за видео!!!! ❤️ Edit: i forgot to mention that my family is from a village in Novgorod
Haha, yes. Good stuff. I was like; damn these are some healthy disciplined ppl to come away from maccies with only fruit and veg. Then the burst of laughter.😂 Very interesting tour too. The wooden architecture was really something else.
You are the reason I am always inspired to keep learning Russian because of content like these that you keep posting. It helps us learners learn so much . Thank you for you effort!
When the lady was pointing to church door in that beautiful church was she referring to Alexander Nemski. Looks like a wonderful place to visit as it was relatively preserved from the Mongol hoard. Lol
The craftsmanship in wood has overawed me when seeing shots of Russia . The artwork inside that church . Breathtaking . I was reminded when you said about Novgorod holding out against the Mongols . Can’t have been easy. I am way out of touch because I thought you would be driving a Lada !!! We got heaps of them out here . The Russian fishing boats who operate and still do around here , they have a contract with Sealords for fish allocation, they used to tie up at the port of Napier and they would go searching for “B” series engines from Austin’s and take them back to Russia as the Lada engines were not so fantastic . The only other thing I know about Novgorod is the Spanish “Azule” division was stationed there during the war . Coming from Spain must have been a shock with the climate . The “peasant food” looked interesting. You don’t need several flavours on the 1 plate , for god sake !! I wonder how plain food would go down here ??. I have never heard of Russian restaurant in NZ. I suppose it may depend on the diaspora. Lol
Thank you so much for this vlog. When I was in Saint Petersburg in 2001, we went on a day trip to Novogorod. We saw the city, the river, the peasants' house, the wooden church, and many other things. It was a wonderful trip and I thank you, Daria, for refreshing my fond memories.
I'm happy I found your channel. Enjoying your videos. I'm always fascinated with "Americanized" Eurosia. Sometimes I'm embarrassed to see parts of American culture being embraced such as McDonald's. I did find it quite cute and endearing that you hummed the McDonald's jingle/slogan as you walked in. Greetings from Southwestern Pennsylvania (near Pittsburgh), USA.
You need to explain that not just Moscow has a Kremlin! Most people outside of Russia do not know this. Oddly enough, I don't remember a Kremlin in Novgorod, but I do remember the one in Pskov. It would make a good trivia challenge to search on the Internet to find what other Russian cities have a Kremlin.
I traveled to Novgorod. It's amazing. The Millennium is very interesting. The German army took the monument down and was going to take it to Germany but the Red Army re-captured it. You can see prince Vladimir holding the cross and Michael the first Tsar. Very Interesting
I would like to visit Мурманск. Why? Because they have Mc'Donalds there, the northernmost in the world. I have never eaten a Big Mac north of the Arctic circle before.
How do you pay road tolls in Russia? The last *cash* toll in Florida was converted to "Sunpass" this year. Now all toll roads in Florida are Sunpass (pre-buy a pass and place it on your windshield). If you don't have Sunpass it takes a picture of your car/tag and using your tag information mails you a picture of your car driving through the toll-booth along with a bill.
I just saw Elizabeth Olsen speaking some russian on Conan. When she said a little bit in Russian she said "цуцу" instead of "цутоцку" was she correct. Just curious
This format (everyday stuff) is очень хороший 🤗 и Москве, самому прекрасный город в мире 😍😍😍 я должен вернуться 😍😍😍😍 👆 I wrote all that without any translator app 😁
daria, if you could please give me advice on how to continue... I've been learning Russian since January 2017, for a some months, but I've taken a year long break since then due to personal problems and hard school work. I had a couple textbooks, and had been using online resources (whether it's real russian club, ru-land club, among numerous other helpful russian language learning channels!). please..how do I continue again? i hope this is probably a stupid question. i'm just depressed and angry at myself for taking a long hiatus. as for specifics, i would say i was around A1-A2 level. i knew about 500-700 words, and had a solid grasp on the cases and some of the grammar. However, I don't have any native speakers friends, or even a teacher like you two (and more). So, I was basically learning on my own (with the resources I mentioned above previously). Again, please, can you give me words of advice, how to continue? I shared my concern with another russian teacher youtube channel, but that was several months ago. and clearly, i'm undisciplined to do anything. and now here I am, asking for more advice like a clueless person. I'm so sorry... but if you could share stories or advice on how to continue , and how should I continue? What should i do? review what i've already learned, but most likely forgotten?? how much review? and how to progress? that would be appreciated. i hope you were able to read this message, and understand my feelings and thoughts. and i hope you can reply.
Hi if you still looking for Russian practice, i can try to help you. I'm a native Russian speaker and i looking for English practice like you. We could help each other. :)
It’s really funny how much Russians seem like Americans. Hop in the car to go on a long road trip and stop at mc Donald’s. I’ve never seen other Europeans do that.

"Здоровенный" have two meaning in Russian: 'most healthy' and the 'big one'.
