Yesterday I saw the documentary ‘Nothing compares’. I still remember seeing this performance on Dutch TV in 1988. I Was stunned, and bought (one of my first) her CD immediately. The final ten seconds of this performance show two young women with a giant gap between them of non-conformism versus showbizz-willingness. The documentary showed me the years to come for Sinead, eventually leading to a dramatic climax (SNL and the Dylan-tribute) and her career going out of the spotlights. But she was right all the same about child abuse. I realise I did not forget her, nor the songs from her first album when I played it on spotify; as powerfull as in 1988. Integrity, fierce. Still an artist to admire.
I was living in Belgium in 1988 and saw this on tv. Like the audience l was just stunned by her. The first time I'd seen Sinead , such a powerful song and voice, and in a time of big hair as well! Even if she was lip syncing it's still her voice and I think people pointing it out should question their motivation. Probably jealousy you sad gits. She's amazing.
I remember watching this episode of Countdown as a ten year old. It blew me away and Sinéad became my idol. Now, 32 years on, i'm watching it for the first time again. I didn't know she was actually lip-syncing.
Thank you for uploading this! I‘ve seen it a long, long time ago and was in awe. For me, it still is one of the best live performances ever, by any singer. I don’t think it was play back, i certainly didn’t see the slight time difference back then, cause I’m very sensitive about that kind of stuff. Besides, I saw it in a compilation show of ‘so many years’ of Countdown. It was one of the favorites of one of the presenters. He remembered the audience never ever being so quiet and impressed. I can’t imagine he would say that of a lip syncing act. I think it’s just from uploading a very old video where the video and the sound just don’t match perfectly.
All your babbling and your dead wrong... Lip sync 100% It's the LION COBRA recording 100% Obvious as can be... Unless your deaf and blind in perception ability

Countdown was my favorite tv show back then. I remember seeing this at the time. I still get goosebumps from this number.

Never seen this before lip syncing but still love my Sinéad and we all know she can sing it live🙏
"I've got goose skin all over the place" 😀 Everybody lip synched before releasing their album so it sounded as good as what they were buying.
Que fofa . tinha 22anos na época. Pena que ela usou muita droga para suporta o sucesso. Mais é uma excelente cantora. Love Sinead.
is it lip syncing or lib sinking? hehehheh
