Worse than waking up for stand to is that rub on your shoulder as your getting some kit and a mate going it’s time for stag and knowing your going to have to sit down freeze your bollocks off and hope the enemy are not going to hit you
Either that or during basic it was the woosh of a shamooli and knowing you were about to be bumped and have to pack all your gear and do an exfil tab or relocate

We used to use the sleeping bag tote bag to hold our boots.
Turn it inside out and put the boots in then put it the sleeping bag with you and your clothes.
If your boots are muddy it will keep the inside of the cover clean for storing your bag the next day.

    1) Fill hydration system 3/4 water, 1/4 air. 2) Wrap hydration system with woobie. 3.1) If clothes are dry, put between sleep system and body if you are going to be changing clothes. 3.2) If clothes are wet, use inflatable pad for barrier between sleep system and ground, and put clothes in waterproof bag. 3.2) If clothes are dry, wrap feet with top, keep the rest on if not changing clothes. 3.4) If clothes are wet revert to 3.2 or you are SOL. 4.1) If no hasty movement expected and boots are dry, put under neck. 4.2) If boots are wet and no hasty movement expected, put in waterproof bag at base of feet. 4.3) If boots are dry and expecting hasty movement, keep boots on and loosen laces. 4.4) If boots are wet and expect hasty movement, loosen laces, line feet base of inside of sleep system with waterproof bag, and insert feet in bag. 5) Put gloves in crotch or in front pants pockets, makes them a little warm in the morning. 6) Try to find anything that can create a barrier between sleep system and ground. 7) Never try to be toasty, you will wake up in sweat and freeze. Try to be comfortable, less chances of freezing in the morning. -Just some of the things I've learned living in the Rockey Mountains as an 11B.

Rain, snow, sleet, wind or shine, that's what we lived in so I had a one person backpack tent and a down sleeping bag and that was home. Tips:
Do now wear full snivel in your fart sack. You will sweat and when you get out of your sack you will freeze.
Put one of your canteens between your sleep sleep system in extreme cold weather. Otherwise, you’ll walk up to a block of ice.
Put your boots inside the foot of your sleeping bag. Better than putting your feet in freezing cold boots
