  • How to disable the AC running all the time when using the defrost or defrost/floor vent positions. This is the procedure for the 2003-2010 Honda Accord:
Step 1: Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Step 2: Switch to the FACE ONLY vent mode.
Step 2: Turn the fan/vent knob to the OFF position.
Step 3: Turn the temp knob to the COLDEST setting.
Step 4: Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
Step 5: Hold down the RECIRCULATION and A/C buttons At the same time.
Step 6: While holding those two buttons, turn the ignition switch to the ON position again.
Step 7: Keep holding the buttons, until the led starts to flash.
Step 9: Keep holding them down until the light stops flashing/goes solid, then release them.
Step 10: Test it, if done correctly you will feel the AC compressor shut off/on when hitting the A/C button while in defrost mode.

This even works on Mercedes, though the only difference is to select defrost instead of face. Now whenever defrost is selected, I can turn the AC off manually via AC button.

It didn’t work for me, even when I put it on different settings, the ac won’t turn off.

AC traps the humidity on the evaporator to defrost your windows. If you live in cold climate i don't recommend turning it off.

The A/C will still automatically come on when you do this. Doing this simply allows you to turn it off if you don’t want it.
