    MUX switches have been around for a while, it's just that before Advanced Optimus, you had to reboot to switch between iGPU/Optimus modes and dGPU-only modes.

    after talking sooo much and explaining the differences between Advanced Optimus and Optimus mode, he still failed to show where and how to turn on Advanced Optimus mode. I suspect the Automatic Select is the Advanced Optimus mode .... but he didn't really explicitly say sooo and leave the readers speculating ... This is a true demo of how to be ambiguous and a negative demo of how to explain and demo how to do settings ...

      Where does it say "how to turn off Optimus" and if you don't know how to access bios and read then that's on you. Literally in big letters on most BIOS "DISPLAY" with options of auto select, Optimus and GPU. And Optimus already has CASO which means that it it already will have advanced Optimus. Anything above 11th gen processors will automatically have it.

    Hey, so in my laptop there is a setting in the bios "Enable hybrid mode/advanced optimus (if availaible)" and even though I have turned it on my nvidia control panel is not getting the manage display mode option even thought it was there and I had also used it multiple times when I had first bought the laptop. Any fixes ?

      thats probably due to the internal signal routing. In general laptop brands only ensure proper Advanced Optimus for the laptop screen sadly. If you want best performance for external displays set your laptop in dGPU mode and reboot. (hopefully the ports dont depend on the iGPU)

    So you have an automatic switch built in but using that will cause 5 times worse response time, and switching manually it doesnt? Very bad implementation. Also doesnt makes much sense, since the gpu connection is still the same? Do you know if this is the same for external displays or only affects the laptop screen?

    So I have a question. I owned ASUS ROG STRIX G16 ( 2023 ) with advanced Optimus and MUX Switch supported. But as I learnt through researches and the above video, its performance is reduced by the iGPU if I do not use the two mentioned features. My question is do advanced optimus and mux switch work on the laptop build-in display or I need to buy an external monitor to make it work? please help to clear me out thanks

    • @xundai
      @xundai 8 месяцев назад +3

      Advanced Optimus is like a rebootless MUX switch, when it’s set to automatic it will switch to the dGPU and it will drive the screen and the signal won’t go through the iGPU.

  • @Talwyn_Wize
    @Talwyn_Wize Год назад +2

    If they could connect the MUX switches to thunderbolt ports as well, maybe eGPUs won't have such a big performance loss with internal vs external monitors.
